    What`s with the japanese fascination in robots? Why not use their technology to make cooler things? Like unmanned war planes...

    slim athlete.....

    I guess it might make a decent chess player with some additional programming....but thats the only thing even remotely athletic (chess as a sport? I am reaaallllyyy reaching here...) that this robot can do at this point.

    It`s 5 foot tall and weighs 85 pounds, and has face recognition and tracking.

    A lot of the beginning of this video they are showing off balance and co-ordination.

    im tired of seeing robots with the same robotic movement...why cant we seem to find/build any that have a more fluid movement like the robots we see in movies like I-Robot?

    that said i dont see the need to a robot to even be slim to begin with...

    Yeah it really didn`t do a lot. If he had thrown the ball and the robot caught it, I would have been impressed. Everything I saw there was probably easily programmable and could be done by the robot without any balance sensors. Simple coordinate commands for the robot to place it`s limbs.

    OMG A BORING ROBOT THAT RECOGNIZES VOICE COMMANDS!!!!!! TYHE END I5 NIGH!

    It`s a voice activated robot if it actually uses voice and not radio signals from a controller.

    And performing pre-programmed moves is as impressive as the TV volume going up when I click the volume up button.

    Maybe if they merged this technology with the rat-brain-robot technology....and a human brain.

    @Everyone who called this boring:

    Dude. C`mon. Seriously? It moves so fluidly, it balances by a heap of miniscule movements, do you have any idea of the effort required to coordinate that many movements? But no, you`re right, your robot is probably better.

    Batmanners, what`s impressive about this is that it`s bipedal, and can do complicated maneuvers like this. Not that they are pre-programmed or not. Baby steps.

    If the bigdog robot can catch its balance so well, why are we still making awkward, slow 2 legged robots? Get the guy who is best at robot balance, the guy best at AI etc. Get the people who do each aspect the best and get them together to make a proper robot.
