Link: Making Holograms Using an iPad - What will they think of next? (Also, think about what this is going to do for the porn, um, we mean the movie industry.)

As this doesn`t produce images that can be seen without making a film of it, this is pretty useless.

BTW, nothing about this is comparable to a hologram.

    Not a hologram.

Is the qualification to have a link posted on IAB that you don`t know any science? Tell me what the trick is. I want to know why my submissions are rejected, then posted by someone else a day later.

duffy - I might have submitted it earlier than you; that`s what I assume when I see something that I suggest that has been submitted by someone else.
    I can`t remember when I submitted this.

@doug1963aaa: Actually this can process will work for still photography just as well. Your exposure just needs to be long enough to cover the whole word

On the one hand, they are taking an image of a 3-D lightspace. And a fun execution.
On the other, I`m thoroughly opposed to people doing something with an iPad as if it`s revolutionary when this could have been done 15 years (maybe 25) ago. Long exposure + Computer Monitor, this doesn`t necessitate an iPad.

its fake... they make it seem like you are creating a hologram by simply sliding your ipad across the room and then a hologram will just appear... its not possible... a hologram needs a power source and when you take the ipad away it would disapear (if it were even real) and the pictures we see are totally photoshopped... at 1:10 its SOOOOO fake

He said it`s a long exposure. It isn`t a "hologram".

Although i don`t know why a hologram should need a power source you are right that this can`t be defined as a hologram. The Ipad itself doesn`t create the end image it`s only a piece of the process and can only reproduce the end result if you play it as a movie on the Ipad.
This is just lightpainting v2.0. Nonetheless it is a nicely executed idea.

Wow, this has had a kind of crappy reception.

The idea is really quite original, I`ve been specialising in photography and computer animation for the last 5 years and I haven`t seen this implemented before.

Granted the video was a little slow, and it would probably benefit if they were to focus more on characters than so many shots of the words, but it`s cool and it`s creative.
