Aww, this is old but still cute. The officer should have told the kid to go get marbles or blocks and do the problems physically, that`s what I remember doing as a kid.

And ddaq89, as some other people have mentioned, the kid is four. When I was first learning subtraction we read 8-3 as "eight take away 3," it`s a pretty common teaching method with really young kids. It`s usually easier to learn that way because then the kids understand that it`s as if they`re "taking away" three objects from a pile of eight.

@ddaq89

When I first started school and learned to subtract, we didn`t say `minus` or `subtract` we said `take away` and we learned how to do `take aways`. We didn`t learn the correct terms until the next two years or so. And really, he`s only FOUR. How is he supposed to know?

@ddaq The kid is FOUR YEARS OLD. I`m fairly sure that you wouldn`t have had perfect pronuciation of words and understanding of mathematical terms when you were four; jackass. Cute video :)

This is a good example of why our kids are getting dumber by the day. Takeaway`s? I think you mean subtraction. Once again schools are dumbing it down . That is almost as dumb as when someone is doing multiplication tables and says "six times it by 5".

"Noooo, I don`t wanna say!"

So cute!! I`m surprised that the cop stayed on the phone with the kid for that long. Maybe it was a slow night lol.

I don`t think the kids mom was even helping him, if you listen till the end, the kid was like "You said if i needed help to call somebody!"
"I didn`t mean the police!"

Clearly she`s a bitch and not taking care of her son...
probably hitting the bottle

Yeah, sat on their arses all day, chatting away on the phone. It`s about time they started pulling their weight.

"... I started first grade at 4"
"i was four when i started grade one also"

huh, I started it at 6, finished it at 7, and graduated high school eleven grades/years later at 18. That`s the standard in my experience.

@Luniz82

Okay, it`s clear that my wording has been slightly ambiguous. I don`t necessarily mean that the kid is stupid, but that it was a stupid act. Most kids that age know what an emergency number is for - that could have been wasting life saving time.

`Stop saying negative things`? The reason I reacted like that is because I don`t say negative things about people, not because I do it all the time. I know that you shouldn`t be annoyed about stuff on the internet, but I was kinda surprised by the response.

By the way, I`m 15, but I`m not sure why that matters. I was comparing the kid to other 4 year olds, not someone older.

There, I`ve restated clearly what I meant, hopefully everyone`s cool with it now. :D

@apj311 you are atleast 13 and you say a 4 year old is stupid? When someone sticks up for the kid and calls you a non nice individual you get upset cause he "came at you like that" REALLY? Maybe stop saying negative things about others and people would have no reason to say negative things about you.

as in call someone over the phone, or call her for help? if she really expects him to call someone over the phone for a math problem then shes just plains silly.

Well it isn`t really helping if they give you the answer now is it? That is called doing it for you not HELPING you do it.

Maybe I was kinda harsh, but he should know by 4 that homework is not an emergency and to ask his parents. It`s probably the parents` fault, but you didn`t have to have a go at me like that.

It totally makes sense to a 4 year old. "call 911 if you need help" and "do your math, call someone if you need help" .... yeah. Logical.

Normally I`m not bothered about reposts and old stuff, but this one is sooooooo old and I`m sure it`s probably been on I-A-B a few times before with different annotations.

Also, the kid is stupid if he thinks that calling 911 for homework help is a good idea.

Isn`t there a fine for something like this. And do parent`s not teach children what 911 is used for anymore? That`s ridiculous!

To call 911 for any purpose other than to report an emergency could result in criminal penalties. Each state has different penalties for 911 misuse, but in most cases, abuse can lead to jail time and stiff fines.
