I would lose my ish driving in Iran, fabarati. I`m guessing the driving laws are lenient, to say the least?

Davymid/Fabarati - don`t know if the Iranian drivers were the same as the Jordanese - but one +ve thing I did notice was an absolute lack of road rage. Once you got with the chaos it wasn`t so bad... except of course for the high risk of death. Saw the aftermath of a number of fatals during a weeks driving.
Iran has more - much more - than its share of terrible drivers as well. Standard practice on motorways is to drive between lane. So if there are 4 lanes drawn, there are 7 lanes of cars.
Feel your pain fabarati, been to Iran several times (Tehran, Qom, Esfahan). Lane marking are entirely optional. Best I can tell, "Luxury Cars" are those that still have wing-mirrors...

@AustinJay Of course you have never seen that, and so do I. There are a fev countries where people drive a bit more...daring, but usually it´s just like everywhere else. It´s like the "Americans are so dumb" videos out there, just misrepresentation.

I`ve been on the German Autobahn going over 100 mph with a student driver (literally first time behind the wheel)...but damn it, navigating the Italian Alps was the most terrifying vehicular experience I will ever have.

Italian drivers are the definition of clinically insane.

Nope. In England they do. The rest of Europe drives on the right side of the road.

Not sure whether they count as Europe, but drivers in the canary islands are demented, its as if they don`t have a speed limit, I was there 2 years ago and got a taxi to a foam party in the mountains, it was like being in the middle of a drating rally!!! We passed at least three car accidents in a 15 minute drive (probably a 25 minute drive with a sane driver).

I agree, there are sh*t drivers in every country. Come to HongKong and you`ll see what I mean. Streets are freak`n small, green light=yellow light=red light=go!, and pedestrians=put the metal on the petal.

I`d take issue with the silver beemer being cr*p driving. Looks pretty fine technique to me - maybe not the best place to demonstrate this technique - admittedly - but in a deserted area - fair play.

The rest were just you`re usual nutters. Though the jay walker and "gone back for the exit" made me wince. Kill yoursen - fine. Kill others - not so cool.

Scandinavians, Germans and people from the UK usually drive quite well. France, Belgium, Italy and Greece, not so much...

Male 1,240
Scandinavians are good... when in scandinavia. At least in Sweden, people drive fairly orderly, the traffic flows, etc.

Unfortunately (?) many people from here don`t adapt well to a more hectic driving style. If the traffic flow differs enough, they become the more dangerous drivers, because they drive like they do at home, instead of how people are driving around them.

@Mikeado - yeah of course there are poo drivers everywhere, that`s why Australia and US have shows like Police Ten Seven, Cops, Most Amazing Videos, etc. etc. etc. The rest of the world just doesn`t get to see much of Europe`s worst drivers.<opinion> From what I hear, Scandanavians in general are the best drivers in the world.</opinion>

As for automatic bollards... it`s a way to definitely STOP people going through after the `gate` would be opened to authorised vehicles. They`re not MEANT to mess up your car, but they raise again quickly behind authorised vehicles, so if you`re trying to rush through a NO ENTRY gate behind an authorised vehicle, and you get smashed... it`s your own fault, but I bet you won`t do it again.

What`s with the picking on Europe? There are poor drivers in every country that has cars, and there are probably some countries with sh*t camel riders too.

I`d be surprised if this is necessary, but I`d just like to say that not everyone in Europe drives like this. Most of them drive normally, thus don`t get filmed.

That last part reminds me of myself in the early 90`s though, I was never that loose with the lanes.
I once went from Detroit to DC, about 900 miles, in less than 10 hours with 2 fuel stops.
On the way back, I was stopped in Pennsylvania by a patrolman who was very polite, one of the most understanding I`ve ever met who said with a smile:
"Here is a ticket for 10 over but, the plane was having trouble following you..."
I got the feeling they were having a nice laugh about the whole thing.

I still fantasize of doing the Boston to Santa Monica Peer run. ("Cannonball! Cannonball!") I think I can do it in less than 30 hours. The last record I saw was 31.

"whoa was that a wrx pulling a semi?"
Yeah. Semi tractors don`t need a shi#load of hp, they`re built for sturdiness and geared for mechanical advantage instead.

In ideal conditions (very level ground,) the average four cylinder passenger car engine is more than enough to actually move a trailer load, in fact, somewhere around here is a video of a human pulling a 727 via a rope in his teeth.

The questions then are:
"At what rate will one accelerate with the load?"
"Does the human or even the passenger car weigh and be sturdy enough with enough friction to bring the laden trailer to a stop from 60MPH in under 250 feet?"

Train drivers try to set records going from the New England states to Maryland (down hill) about "how little fuel they use versus how heavy, at what rate."
Some have pulled very heavy trains 50+MPH with less than a gallon of fuel.

This may have inspired auto engineers to try hybri

The last guy will end up dead. I only hope he doesnt hurt or kill anyone else WHEN it happens.

I found driving in England (and Wales) pretty mellow except for London.

How traffic lights work in London:

Green = Go.

Yellow = Go very fast.

Red = Only three or four (no more than five or possibly six...seven on the outside) more cars can go.

But if you want to pretty much guarantee a fender-bender, drive in Tijuana Mexico. Nosing into the car next to you when changing lanes is the same as a turn signal there.

We actually constructed the english channel to stop the crazy European drivers from entering our country. It worked for a while but then the French got smart and built an underwater tunnel linking our roads with theirs. Since then things have got rather hecti- *KILLED BY CAR SMASHING THROUGH THE WALL*

to idiotfilter, 200km/h is 125mph. how about you know your stuff before you bad mouth anything. as for the guy at the end. yes, it is driving. but not impressive, anybody can drive fast down a road and swerve around cars. you know what is impressive, the guy who controlled the drift around that circle multiple times, that actually requires control and talent.

Most Europeans are good drivers, actually. The driving lessons and tests here are much more intensive than American tests. Just the French and Italians are generally impatient people, which also affects their driving :P

They need to make it so much easier to lose your license pemanently and get jail time for completely reckless driving, as it is it seems they`d rather let them back on the road in the hopes of giving them fines.

4:28 = a tunnel in Madrid.

The red car sliding down a hill was earlier this year when (by our standards) we had a once in a century winter. Whole road was one big sheet of black ice.

The porsche driver right at the end is an utter dratwit. He`s lucky the Autobahnpolizei didn`t see it, otherwise he`d be looking at thousands of euros worth of fines if not jail. Their road laws are ubber strict.

Those things that come up from the ground in europe always bothered me. They drat up your car big time from the looks of it. What`s wrong with JUST an automated gate like they do in america? Just because you didn`t pay a few bucks toll doesn`t mean they reserve the right to thoroughly drat up your vehicle.

And America should enforce MOT tests to make sure cars are roadworthy instead of allowing those pre-Pimp-my-Ride cars to be on the road.

And to be honest, there`s a lot more of those "AMERICA`S WILDEST DRIVERS!" type shows on TV, it`s not a `European` thing.
