@ Tay-Dor: True. And the NEA needs to be disbanded. Today nobody could pass the 1895 8th grade graduation test. See barefootsworld.net/1895finalexam.html

Public Schools don`t need more money. They need to hold teachers accountable for the education of the students. Once they get tenure, they get a free ride.

Nice to see some people can recognize a flatworm.

@ FriiginMo

Wait a minute, I thought paramecium had flagella? And that it was microscopic? How would they be able to cut it? It`s probably just a flat worm or something...

@FrigginMo

Oh. I didn`t know that. Thank you. =-)

So no one here took basic Biology? This is a paramecium.

And for the record, it`s not "can not," but "cannot." Not "alot," but "a lot."

It`s a type of planaria (sp?) which is a type of flat worm.

"Just by reading your comments I could tell if you went to private school or a public school. Public schools cant afford Biology classes."

I go to a public school, and I`m pretty sure we can afford biology classes since its required to graduate... We didn`t do this in biology though...just dissected fertile pigs and a couple stray cats from the pound.

This isn`t that cool. It`s just worms. Didn`t you take biology in 9th grade? I went to public school in the south and we were taught this. If you are amazed by this, please realize the zoom and time lapse used. None of this is real time/1X.

@Namikaze

This: can`t = can not
or
that: Cant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the linguistic concept of a cant. For the Irish Cant (also known as Shelta/Gammon), see Shelta.
Cant is the jargon, argot or cryptolect of a group, often implying its use to exclude or mislead people outside the group.

Please note, I think that public schooling desperately needs more money; the ratio of its funding compared to military spending is too small.

Its a flatworm. We had to do this in Biology lab last semester. They`re much small than they look here.

Heh heh... It looks like a penis a few times...

Ahh, the simple things that amuse...

Also, with absolutely perfect timing, the song "The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth" by Creature Feature started playing while I was watching this...

Now all I can think is "Kill on and two more shall take it`s place..."

Aaaw, it`s just a little flatworm. I had one n Science class too. It`s name was Clyde, and we cut it part way down the middle so it looked like it had two heads :P

It`s like that film where those evolving cells continued to evolve and evolve. Then they evolved into living organisms like this which could be cut then evolved into many different branching species. I think it was called `The [Insert end of not so funny joke]`

The "Biochemical memory experiments" section of the Wikipedia article on planarian is quite disturbing :S I read it while the dramatic music of the video played back in my mind

The part that emused me wuz the part i read from wiki:
"In 1962, McConnell repeated the experiment, but instead of cutting the trained flatworms in two he ground them into small pieces and fed them to other flatworms. Incredibly these flatworms learned to associate the bright light with a shock much faster than flatworms who had not been fed trained worms."

wow,just WOW!

Planarium flatworm... no big deal.

What is cool is that you can train them (go to the light, go away from the light) cut them into pieces, when the pieces regenerate into individual flatworms they all retain the training. THAT is cool.
