I deliver to a Walmart and I see literally every day one person who is so obese or overweight get on to one of those things to go and ride around inside...one woman I actually said something to about leaving the scooter outside the front doors in the rain. "F*CK YOU ASSH*LE" she goes to me...I walked away thinking...I wouldn`t drat you with your dog`s dick...

The same problems can cause depression as well that makes it even harder to get up and exercise and cause you to eat unhealthy foods. Im not saying its impossible to get better when you have these things its just a lot harder.
-------

This is part of the point I was attempting to make. Depression on top of your body already being drated up makes things about 1000 times worse. Like SillyBella said, it doesn`t make it IMPOSSIBLE, just about 10 times harder. That, however, doesn`t mean that people like this shouldn`t strive for a better lifestyle -- they should do the best they can with what they`ve got. That`s all you can do, really.

I completely agree except you forgot about thyroid and hormone problems that can make it extremely easy to gain weight and extremely hard to lose it. The same problems can cause depression as well that makes it even harder to get up and exercise and cause you to eat unhealthy foods. Im not saying its impossible to get better when you have these things its just a lot harder.

And for the record, I eat a lot because I like food. I don`t exercise because I am too damn lazy. And if someone calls me fat, I know I would be a hypocrite if I cried about it.

And let me say, as a fat person (not obese tho) You have to try REALLY, REALLY HARD to become obese. Seriously, it`s no accident. It takes a lot of dedication to become as fat as the 2 on the right. Especially the one too lazy to lift up her arm. I bet she was huffing and puffing the whole way from the handicapped spot that she illegally parked in all the way to the front door.
God forbid any of you stone throwers ever get fat.
And guess what? It will be their own choice. And if you try to argue me saying "no one chooses to be fat" Yes, yes they do. It`s a choice. THEY chose to eat like pigs while blobbing out on the couch watching TV. THEY chose the motorized shopping cart instead of walking. THEY chose not to exercise.

Being fat is a choice, like it or not. It`s the truth. (the ONLY exception is if you are under 16 and your parents are fat)

I have every right saying this because being fat myself, gives me the right to bash the fatty`s in denial.

Walmart - destroying our faith in humanity one isle at a time.

I was standing by the deodorants the other day reenacting old spice commercials when I overheard two women (one in the obligatory shopping scooter) explaining "dooshy" to a third woman. Try as I might, I could not escape.

Takeaway line: "You know, dooshy; it`s for your cooter."

As a 4-5 year old, all I knew was "Hey this tastes good, so I`m gonna eat it!" Yes it was wrong, I agree. I also think that when a parent notices this kind of behavior in their child, they should do whatever it takes to stop it, instead of giving in to it so they don`t "deprive their children".

I`m not so fat to where I can`t walk and have to use a scooter -- in fact, I think it`d pretty sad and pathetic when people let themselves get like that. I`m not saying that my lifestyle was RIGHT. It was wrong and now I`m going through the motions to fix it. But I did not choose it; I did not choose to have the metabolism I have and I did not choose for my parents to not discipline me when it came to my eating habits. People who haven`t grown up with a weight problem can and will NEVER un

I`m not sure what the caption means. Are you saying that because America is fat, people must use chubbo carts when shopping?
Are you saying that because Americans use chubbo carts when shopping, the result is obesity?
Please clarify...

I peronally think the fatties here in the U.S. should not be allowed to use carts or handi-capable parking spots.
In fact, if we give obese people necklaces instead of wheelchair stickers/plates, then force them to park FARTHEST away, they`ll either die on the way in, or lose some weight.

This entire problem would be solved if we put fatty foods upstairs, and for legitimate disabled people we would put in an elevator with a security guard.

Yea, it`s called calling it like it is. You don`t get obese by accident, it`s not genetic, it`s not a disease. IT`S A CHOICE. Like it or not, all fat people chose to be that way.

-----------

Not necessarily true. A lot of overweight people start out that way as kids because their parents let them eat whatever they want. This ends up ruining the child`s metabolism and they end up having a stupid weight problem they didn`t have to have to begin with.

This is what happened to me; I grew up being "the fat kid", and especially through puberty and adolescence, being constantly made fun of anytime I tried to be active, I just believed that I was too fat to bother with it. Now that I`m older, out of high school, and around adults, I know that was silly. But now, because of the way I was raised, I`m having the hardest time ever getting into the healthy habits that I was never really taught to have. It sucks. Don`t judge.

Should we have compassion for a heroin addict? Why should we have compassion for a food addict?

Dax, you say your buddy lost her foot, was that due to diabetes that she got from being overweight for so long?

How many other overweight people have medical problems that are solely due to the fact that they are overweight?

My old room mate was a large guy, and he asked me to shoot him if he was ever so big he needed to use a scooter to get around.

Well if the only thing that was every wrong with your friend is that they were fat since they were young, that`s a lifestyle problem, we shouldn`t have to feel compassionate for somebody who dug a hole and threw them self in it. You eat to live, you don`t live to eat.

I have a friend who is obese, and has been their ENTIRE LIFE. Only had to use a motorized chair after losing part of a foot, which threw their back out. Also had had this back problem for 25 years, never used a motorized chair. Foot surgery make her back problem 20 times worse. Had also lost 130 pounds before surgery, gained 50 back after. Can only stand up for 4 minutes. If she has to run into the store for 1 or 2 items, not too much of a problem, if the cashier line isn`t long. Thanks God for Walmart and local grocery store for having these carts = this way, she can at least do her own shopping, and doesn`t have to rely on or hire others. And you know what? She really doesn`t give a flying F*** what you all think. And neither do I. You all (or most of you) seem to have the compassion and sense of a two-year old.

Just because someone is fat and in a scooter doesn`t NECESSARILY mean the fact that they are fat is what caused them to have to use a scooter. For example, I have known people who gained a bunch of weight because they became disabled and had to get around in a power chair.

Laziness is not a disability.

Maybe every single person in that picture has a legitimate disability that prevents them from being able to walk around the store, but I really doubt it.

I once worked for a very obese husband and wife. The wife was so large and lazy she couldn`t even walk 10 feet to the bathroom without complaining about how much it hurt.

Sure, she had some legit medical problems.
Yet every single morning she`d have me stop and get her McDonalds or Burger King for breakfast, she`d have me go get everyone fast food for lunch, and every night they would go out to eat at a greasy restaurant.

If you can`t even give the slightest drop of effort then I just have no sympathy for you.

Yeah, why I agree that a lot of times these people`s problems could be solved by walking, they could have a legitimate reason for using a scooter. My aunt is overweight and uses a scooter sometimes when she knows she`ll be going a long distance, but she also has a multitude of disabilities, including a prosthetic leg and spina bifida.

It`s just hard to judge on one picture.

"if you`re disabled you can`t sit in a seat like that, you don`t have the strength to keep yourself in it, and you don`t have the control to keep your legs tucked in nicely like that"

There are different types of disabilities. I think you are thinking of people who are paralyzed. They have wheelchairs with leg supports. I`m disabled and could most certainly sit in that cart thing.

However, I refuse to get one of those or an electric wheelchair because I`d rather go everywhere slowly and painfully like I do now than give up and take the easy way out. That`s why so many people in those chairs are overweight. They just give up. There are some people who absolutely can not walk on their own or use a non-electric wheelchair, of course, but the vast majority of Americans with them could walk at least sometimes if they just tried a little bit every day.

Sorry for the rant, but being a gimp myself, these people BUG ME.

@I-IS-BORED It depends on how you`re disabled and how severely. My tenant who lives downstairs has nerve damage. He can walk/stand for short periods of time but most of the time he uses an electric scooter like in this picture. He has no trouble sitting in it, that doesn`t mean he can walk.

He also looks to be about 140 lbs MAX. He`s a super skinny little guy.

Anyway, not everyone who uses one of those scooters does so because they are lazy.

Yeah this annoys me. I saw this today when I ran in to Safeway to get a couple gallons of Coffee Ice Cream, Edy`s Grand. Anyway the lady that was using the cart didn`t know the store layout so it was one U-turn after the other and not a smear of embarrassment on her fat face. Stores have to stop enabling laziness. Just stop it. These fat pigs would never haul their own motorized cart. Get up and walk fatass!
