Lol, yes, marijuana is significantly safer than any other drug. It`s probably even safer than smoking in several cases.

It should be legal for medicinal purposes. Really.

    you can`t overdose on pot.

You might over-eat on it, but not overdose.

so how dangerous could it be?

The only way one would be able to somewhat "overdose" on pot is if they were to smoke 1,315 joints in 20 minutes.

On another note, I`d like to see someone try.

I think ganja would be alright if you did it every now and then, but if you used it loads then the long term effects like depression and possibly schizophrenia can kick in, so it would suck.

I`m not comparing it to Meth(which is retarded), I`m just giving an opinion on ganja.

I`ve never read a single report of pot causing depression or schizophrenia. Maybe you`re thinking of LSD?
Anyway, pot is sort of a wonder-drug. It`s a cure-all for many diseases, especially mental disorders, and it has basically zero side effects. If it were legalized, it would be a HUGE cash cow for pharmaceutical companies that sell it.

"Long term effects of marijuana have not yet been fully studied due to Federal government laws against marijuana research conducted by scientific method (verifying results of research independently and by multiple controlled sources)."

JUGGALETTEx0: Not true, Numerous studies have shown marijuana smoke to contain carcinogens and to be an irritant to the lungs. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50-70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke.

And a number of studies have shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and schizophrenia.

Studies say this..studies say that, god shut up! Every person experiences this differently, if it is harmful to your emotional state or whatever else then just don`t drating smoke pot! It`s not gonna be beneficial to EVERYBODY. It`s not as harmful as cigarettes OR alcohol especially when vaporized.

Drunks tend to be more violent and commit felenous acts of violence, but when was the last time you heard of a guy who was stoned and robbed a bank? I mean if you think it`s bad then just stay away from it, no reason to be so uptight and ruin it for everyone else who benefits from it by illegalizing it. It`s not going to kill you, chances are it won`t even hurt you

Marijuana`s only side effects are dry mouth and increased metabalism. also its much more cheaper

    As Chris Rock once said

"Take nine aspirins, and that will be the last headache you`ll ever have"

Most of the side effect for the legal drugs are far worse than the side effects for marijuana, and thats a fact.

Government doesnt care about our health, if they did then Tobacco and alcohol would be illegal.

Let`s face it, the government is raking in huge sums of cash from the taxes on cigarettes, and moralfags will jack up that tax as much as they can so that it will stop smokers from doing their terribly habit and hopefully lower their own taxes. Hell, as long as everyone *else* is being taxed. But Marijuana on the other hand, you can grow it in your back yard, and there are lots of people who use it as an alternative medicine, thus lowering the profit to be had on normal medication that the common man can`t make on his own, meaning the big corporations hoarding money in the health business would make less money, and since corporations have a bigger say in government than we as voters do, making that happen is nearly impossible. Let`s face it, no one makes money off of pot so legalizing it would be next to impossible.

This coming from someone who kicked smoking cigarettes and hasn`t touched pot in his life (though I don`t take any meds ever, either.)

@thetas, legalizing pot would make the prisons less crowded of non violent offenders who get caught with marijuana that WE have to pay to house in prisons, and if it were legal, it wouldn`t be legal to just grow it on your own it would definitely be regulated. It`s not right that someone who gets high once in a while can lose their job and go to jail for doing absoutley nothing wrong. If it were legal, they would tax the poo out of it. It would also be safer because there is ALWAYS a chance of it being laced with something and with it being regulated there would be no chance of that happening any more.

Cajun247, your link about schizophrenia: they only used the chemical cannibidiol to treat the paranoid schizophrenics. Pot itself contains that chemical, plus THC and others. Depending on the pot, you might get more THC or more cannibidiol. The effects of each are highly different. THC is responsible for the anxiety and paranoia some people feel when getting high. For me, these feelings were so intense that I would become delusional. Either that or I would feel like I was losing my mind or going to die, and I`d curl up in my bed and try to sleep while the sound of my own heartbeat terrified me. After the high wore off and I woke up I still would not feel like myself for many weeks. Maybe I`m the only one who gets affected so intensely by pot, I really have no idea. But the point is, it can have negative psychological effects, which are often overlooked.

Cajun, just to clarify, their conclusion basically stated that schizophrenics who had used cannabis prior to their onset of schizophrenia were less severely affected by the illness, right?
