My boyfriends dad used to do the peroxide thing, but then he had to stop because it was messing up his stomache REALLY bad.

But his stomache is sensitive. Spicy food would make his have really bad stomache pain and he voimts a lot. Doesn`t help that he`s an alcoholic and it doesn`t help. It`s pretty sad... ):

My husband had bad teeth, it runs in his family. All it took for me to become a floss-n-brush fanatic was seeing what he went through the day he had 28 (yes...TWENTY-EIGHT!) teeth pulled at once so he could get dentures. I`ve got some hellaciously brutal pics of him as he was healing up from it. We`re talking a bruise that reached all the way down between his nipples, black eyes and a bruise that covered his entire jaw for more than a month.

I loves me some peroxide now. Here`s what you do- 1)Floss. 2)Pour a swig of peroxide into your mouth. 3)Hold it in there for as long as you can stand it. 4)Spit. 5)Brush as usual.

It`s harsh at first, but you`ll get used to it. It gets your teeth squeaky clean.

floss in the mornings before brushing. I personally like to use those toothpick floss dealy deals. Makes it easier to reach the teeth in the back.

Ahh. I just went to the dentist yesterday.

I rarely brushed my teeth from when I was probably 6-15. Every so often I`d start brushing like a madman for a week straight, but it would taper off.
The only thing I had done was a root canal on a back molar. When it was growing in, the gums were still covering the top of it. So all the food particles got stuck under there are started rotting the tooth as it was growing in.
Other than that, no problems at all. I`m a lucky one in my family.

@ feiku....my sister used to do the same thing and ended up with, what, 8 cavities. You def god lucky there, lol!

I, on the other hand, especially when I got braces years and years ago became like a oral hygiene freak! I once skipped brushing my teeth one night because I was at a friends house really late and ended up crashing there and couldn`t brush my teeth. I wasn`t a happy person. I know, I know...lol

I never flossed and I use to only brush ONCE PER MONTH while drinking a tonnnn of Dr. Pepper when I was little. I`ve never had one single cavity. Woo! (I do brush now though, so yah, but didn`t start until I was in 6th grade)

And for all the people who claim that doing everything possible for your teeth will ensure that they stay in one piece, I think some of the comments on here have proved otherwise. Some people just have naturally good teeth, or a good diet. You`d probably be surprised at which foods can quite badly damage your teeth. Sugar isn`t as bad as people make it out to be - crisps (chips for Americans) are far worse cos they get stuck in yuour molars and the starch in them gets slowly digested by your saliva, effectively providing a banquet for bacteria. You should probably be careful with fruit too, cos most if not all of it has natural acids in them

Dear Floss:

You may not remember me. I certainly remember you. I remember you kicking the books out of my hand. I remember you taking all the hot girls and belittling me in front of them. I remember you making fun of my man-parts in the gym shower.

You remember Toothbrush, don`t you? Yeah, you and her were real close. Remember when you cheated on her and she left you? You always thought she`d come back.

She`s with me. And now that we`re together, it`s your turn.

I`ll see you in hell.

-Listerine.

I never floss. I don`t have gaps between my teeth big enough to stick string through them!

I brush my teeth though.

I used to not floss either until I went to the dentist and was told a couple of my teeth were starting to decay, and if I didn`t take better care of my teeth, I`d have to have really expensive and extensive dental work done.

...I started flossing. Every day. I don`t want my teeth to fall out. Maybe all you non-flossers should think about that!

I`m with inaria here - as a kid I never had any problems with my teeth, even when I got lazy and only brushed when I felt like it. The only issues I`ve ever had are a few cavities and I`ve had them filled.

"Floss always rips to bits, the dentist told me to get a water pic.. I just can`t afford it. Mouth wash will have to do"

uhhh theres plenty of waxed floss and different types that work for different people. mouthwash does not serve floss` purpose. at all.

I have a small mouth and floss gets ripped to bits between my tightly spaced teeth, too. I use the Reach Flosser. It works very nicely. :) Try it

seeks_love: If you`re using the floss that`s like thread- try waxed floss because it can`t fray. Otherwise ask your dentist?

Good oral hygiene means more likelihood to get a date, better breath, and less chance of disease or infection. Having poor oral hygiene can lead to countless other health problems, so just floss your damn teeth, already!

My teeth are too closely spaced for me to floss. Whenever I`ve tried I end up with the floss half jammed between my teeth and having to sit there and pick it out.

Why does your breath stink? Because you don`t floss and you have rotting food in between your teeth!

drat flossing, just cuts up your gums and leaves your mouth throbbing

I floss every damn day. If you let food or plaque or whatever just sit there between your teeth (and no, just brushing/mouthwash does not get it all), it becomes tartar and could cause your gums to recede due to irritation. Or something equally disgusting-- just floss your damn teeth people! And see the dentist! Unless you want to be Gummy Joe when you`re 50.

I stop flossing again the next day. Maybe if I made it into some exciting new game, it would be easier to do everyday
