I am usually on the side of the cops, but the facts I have seen tell me that they had zero right to do this. If that is true then they should be arrested themselves and made to serve some time for abusing their authority. Cops who abuse their own authority should be made examples of in the harshest of manners.

That was really uncalled for. On another note, those dogs kinda sucked, they didn`t even try to defend the guy. Even my little Pomeranian jumps on people and barks at them if they even get a little too close and feely.

I hope they go to jail, just like anyone else would have that pulled this crap on someone. But, of course they won`t, because the justice system encourages this kind of behaviour from cops by having slap-on-the-wrist penalties for them. Stupid cops.

That guy`s dogs are poo! If a cop (or anybody) started wailing on me like that, my dogs would rip out his throat. Man`s best friend indeed, small useless mutts.

If the guy`s story is true, then those two officers deserve punishment and all the lawsuits that he can give them. However, from the video, it does look as if he tried to argue or interfere with the officers directly (I didn`t see the driver he tried to help anywhere?), and generally, that can be considered as interfering with a police investigation/arrest. He didn`t deserve the beat down, but maybe he should have waited on the sidelines as a bystander until after the cops were done doing their thing and only talked to the driver that got pulled over. He probably didn`t need to jump in there and cause trouble. That being said, those cops overreacted, no matter who was at fault or what version of events are true, and I hope they get what they deserve.

I`m pretty sure that if those dogs had done something, one of the officer`s would have shot them. They would have claimed they were protecting themselves. It`s probably for the best they didn`t do anything. Still utterly crazy the cops did this though, don`t get me wrong, there needs to be some serious repercussions for them.

Finally something I can totally agree with you on...too bad it wont happen, i bet they`ll get suspended with pay for 2 weeks or maybe have to be desk jockeys for a month or two. Cops cannot and will not police themselves, that`s why nothing ever happens to them for doing crap like this and its a damn shame

Welcome to the police state, resistance is futile.

IamBored29: It takes a certain type of personality to be a good cop. It takes patience, attention to detail, common sense, and not being vindictive, hateful, or quick to anger.

There are many many more good cops than bad, Just as there are many more good people than bad in the general population.

whether he put his hands on the cop or not that was excessive force, they are taught to arrest them if they think that he meant harm by putting his hands on him, not beat the crap out of him.

First of all, how did this guy know that the police were pulling the other car over for not stop at the stop sign? Sounds like bull poo to me. Second, the video doesn`t show the part where the guy put his hand on the officers first. You can clearly see the "beating" occurs while the man has the officers by their uniforms. He was interfering, they asked him to leave, he refused, they tried to detain him, he assaulted one of them by putting his hands on him for reasons that haven`t been determined and the ensuing struggle got spun by the media as police brutality... Bottom line. The media spun this one pretty hard and you tools bought it.

Power corrupts, man. And cops are just people like you and me so they have no real power anyway. It just sucks ass that thuggish dickheads can wear badges and mess with people like they are supreme beings. This stuff is why folks say ufck the police. And sadly due to the way the courts deal with it these assface cops probably won`t get any real punishment. Sometimes I think about becoming a cop just so I can one of the good ones, though I wonder if I was in that position if I wouldn`t abuse my authority as well. In any case: ufck the police!

Also, don`t take this particular case as the be all, end all on abuse by police. That dude who got shot while lying on his stomach at the BART station in Oakland, CA didn`t get justice either. And while the subsequent riots were a disgrace to his memory and the travesty of justice, I can understand why when a cop kills a guy who is lying on his stomach handcuffed doesn`t get punished for his actions people would react violently. Police need to be held to the same standard as the general populace because, um, they ARE the general populace. A blue uniform doesn`t make you god, son.

kevinmiller1, the man was standing there with his hands at his sides, and then he pulled out a video camera. Cops treat video cameras as a license to beat the person with the camera.

So, he pulls out a camera, and they proceed to beat him. One officer put up his clipboard to block it, and then the other one grabbed him by the shoulder and they jumped on him.

Yeah, the cops aren`t being framed in this.

Alright, let`s wake up and shake off the availability heuristic. Put simply, we think something happens more often than it does because, well, we hear about it more often. A good police officer, doing their job exactly as they are supposed to isn`t going to make the news, whereas something like this video, which can be sensationalized, gets aired. It lodges in our memory, and the next time down the road that we hear about something like this, we think to ourselves "frak, all police are horrible and out to get us". So, next time something like this gets posted, lets take a step back and hold off on the cop-bashing.

the fact is while extremes like this are rare, the traffic law system itself is flawed. Even when the evidence is in your favor it still comes down to your word versus the officer. The officer is believed over you because "they have no reason to lie" Police issue more traffic tickets for harmless offenses than they do for other crimes. Its all about money, stopping a burgler for breaking and entering makes them no money, but pulling you over for going 80 in a 75 zone gets them 300+ bucks.

Watch the video again. In no way did the police do their job. The guy stopped at the stop sign, and the police pulle dhim over and said he didnt stop. A witness went to the guy who was pulled over illegaly and stated that he would testify that the police were wrong and that teh guy did stop and obey the law. The arresting officer heard this and because he knew he would get fired decided to intimidate the witness.

Seriously. You are either a very very poor troll, or just a complete idiot who should have been drowned at birth.

Maybe you should read my post again and do a little research. I`m simply trying to educate people a little bit. The video was obviously edited by the news station. I`m not saying they edited it to slant it, but when something gets taken out of context, its easy to only see one side of the story. That news report consisted of 1) the edited video, and 2) the lawyer for the guy in question. It`s his job to advocate his client`s side of the story. Until I see an unedited video/third party account of what happened, I will reserve my judgment. And hey, look at that, I managed to reply to your comment without making any personal attacks. Amazing.

The dog made this f*cking incredible to me.
i just saw the dog run away from the savage beating those f*ckers were giving him and it makes me want to snap.
If I was there I would have defended that guy.
I would have seriously tried to beat the sh*t out of those cops.

Even if it was edited... This still shows excessive firce. They held the guy down and punched him. seriously. It makes me feel bad for all of the good cops.
