I love the casual applause from the crowd that just witnessed probably the greatest baseball defensive play they will ever see in person.

I wonder if he can hit for power and average? If he can put him with the Texas Rangers. Now if they can only get out of bankruptcy.
wow, how hight did he have 2 jump to make this! eeek!
Not as high as you might think. He uses the wall for traction. Jump, foot on wall, drive upwards from that foot, repeat. It`s far from easy, but a skilled person with the right footwear can get a fair way up a wall like that.

Of course, doing that makes the catch far more difficult than if he was standing or even jumping for it. This is a huge display of skill.

I created an account just to warn people...the radiation in Hiroshima has effectively created super Japanese ninja`s...who play baseball. Now how are people gunna spin the atomic bombs being a bad thing.
Everyone seems rather unamazed by this.
Do they only get standing ovations if they do backflips and then catch it?
A cultural thing, perhaps. Japanese society is traditionally more restrained in public displays than the USA.

Alternatively:

Baseball. Serious business.

If he were a little more Manny Ramirez and less Jet Li, he would have grabbed a hot dog and beer and pee`d behind the fence while he was catching it.

Spiderman! Spiderman! Does whatever a spider can!
Climb the wall, catch some flies,

He may have won our hearts, but he stole the hope from the little boy who`s only dream was to bring home that ball

@billy62 he means teams, the teams in the world series are not from all over, they are from the american league and the national league, which means they`re almost all american teams (with the only exception being the blue jays)

"is this why americans dont let anyone else play in the `world series`? coz these guys would wipe the floor with them..."

Japanese players play in Major League Baseball. So do people from Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, South Korea, and Taiwan. IOW, everywhere baseball is played. That`s what makes it the World Series- the team that wins it is the best in the world.

o.O

This seems very similar to a viral video ad for Powerade or some other energy drink, where the little ball girl leaps off the wall to catch the ball. I really hope this is fake like that one was.

It`s amazing that Japanese baseball hasn`t already surpassed American in every way. They love it so much more than we do.

best catch since the `70`s when that one guy threw his mitt in the air which intercepted the ball then caught them both! That`s banned now but it was brilliant at the time!

"Is that even physically possible? How does someone jump 10 feet into the air?"

If you watch again, he took a step up the wall and then jumped off the top of the wall.

Thesphinx, he obviously runs up the back wall and jumps off of it to catch it. It`s a bit hard to see, but no, he doe not flat out JUMP to catch that.

What do you expect? It`s Japan, the land where ninja`s live and the impossible... Isn`t.

Also, I`m pretty sure there`s a fan out there who`s PISSED because he didn`t get to catch that, lol.
