Good post and pretty funny. I used to be homophobic, but I literally don`t care anymore. I hear my Marine coworkers say some pretty ignorant stuff at work. My favorite is, "I can`t believe Obama is going to allow openly gay peeps in the military... I don`t want guys starring at my junk in the showers."

To which I say, "dude, get over yourself. There have been gays in the military for a long time and undoubtedly you have showered with them, was anyone looking at your junk that you can remember?"

Even if it did happen, it would be few and far between. But watch, if the military could be openly gay, they would probably not allow them to get married if they allow it for civilians. I bet that happens...

rather then concentrating on seeking approval from the government, shouldn`t we be concentrating on forming a government in which approval wouldn`t be needed in the first place?

I had a friend who was homophobic, who said she would disown her own children if they came to her and said they were GAY,that is, until she actually met a gay man and became friends with him. A couple of years later she admitted how wrong she was.
The issue is ignorance, basically, not knowing or not wanting to know the true person. Why should anyone care who you love or how you love ?
Why are people so concerned about what goes on other peoples bedrooms? Do you spend your days thinking about what your doctor , preacher, parents, teacher, your friends are doing in their bedrooms? Who is the sick person ?( not saying Gays are sick )
Love is Love there is nothing more beautiful or essential in life , we need as much of it possible, the only evil thing is the hate that is show towards these loving people !
The devil will appear in sheeps clothing and persuade you to do evil things against love !!

"Being against homosexuality does not make you a homophobe or afraid of gay people."

There is a 1000 character limit. People are not going to type out `against homesexuality` when we can say `homophobic` and people will get the point. I don`t know of anyone that cowers in a corner at the sight of homosexuality.

There is nothing wrong with being gay, hell just leaves more girls for me :p (And my gay friends will never go after the same girl i want XD) but you cant argue with the fact that Heterosexuality is the natural way. There`s a false predicate in your argument, so your conclusion is also false.

Although if you were intending to argue against the "natural" argument, I would agree with you.

As soon as I see anyone using "it`s natural" or "it`s unnatural" as an argument for or against anything, I can freely dismiss their argument. Right away, I know they`re talking utter rubbish and haven`t got a clue. Unless it`s an advertising campaign for a product, in which case they`re talking utter rubbish but they understand the market.

@Rman1201: idd it does, but do they get kids that way? no. It serves no natural purpose but pleasure. Animals also abandon there cubs if they have a other scent (ex human). Its also natural, why don`t we do that? When i say natural i mean it in a strict "it has a purpose for the species to live on" way. It is natural to have kids. Naturally speaking, that`s the purpose of sex. Ergo my previous statement.

The more gay men there are the more available women. If you want less single women and therefore, less chance of getting a woman into bed, then you sound pretty drating gay. This is all I have to say to gay bashers.

As for lesbians, can you blame them. Big hairy arsed sweaty men or wee cute peachy bummed girls with jiggly boobies? No brainer.

No, I`m not. I was arguing against you saying homosexuality is unnatural. I made no comment about you thinking it`s a bad thing.

Then tell me. What`s wrong about my argument. I can see no scientific explanation about whats wrong about it.

You were arguing that something which has occured naturally throughout at least all of recorded history and probably before then is unnatural. That`s not a scientific argument.

The basic flaw in your argument is your presumption that evolution has a purpose. It doesn`t have a mind, so it can`t have a purpose. Your argument only makes sense in the context of believing that humanity is being modified by some form of higher power. Which, ironically, would make you one of "them crazy ass religious people".

I don`t usually post but wanted to throw my 2 cents in here:

It has been discovered that with each sibling there is a higher chance of homosexuality. It is assumed to be because the purpose of reproduction is to continue a species and only one sibling need reproduce to retain a blood line. Having many siblings go after the same mates would only result in feud. It could therefore be said that producing a gay child is indeed evolutionary and aids in the survival of a blood line.

I believe that sexuality is dependent on hormonal levels. It seems likely that sexuality is determined during foetal development, therefore I find the above assumption logical.

If this is true, homosexuality is both natural and evolutionary and it reduces heterosexual competition which we should be thankful for.

Pro-tip. Do not use arguments that apply equally well to a nuclear holocaust.

    Evolution wise, war is good.
    Evolution wise, disease is good.
Evolution wise, inventing an army of robots to be our predators to replace those we`ve lost allowing us to again join the process of evolution that has been stunted since we decided to care for our weak as well as our strong, is good.

Basically, if you want to make an argument, never make it "population control" unless you have something else that goes along with it.

(Also, fyi, for social evolution maybe, but for individual evolution, it is not).

For the record I actually believe that illness is `a good thing`. Our population issues are caused largely by advances in modern science and medicine. We insist on immunising against natural infections right from birth. We have fought many of our natural predators into extinction and treat the wounds and poisons caused the remaining. Many accidents that would otherwise be fatal to us can now be healed, and even modern living conditions mean the weather is no issue. Effectively we are doing everything we can to fight against nature and as a result we live well into our 80`s.

Surely no species is really meant to live to an age where both physical and mental ability is reduced to a point where we cannot get around without the aid of technology?

Now I`m not saying I would refuse life saving treatment myself, but we certainly aren`t meant to be given that opportunity. We`re an intelligent life force, and that in itself is destroying both our and other speci

I refuse immunisations and therefore haven`t had any since my measles jab when I was around 5 years old, and for about 3 years now I haven`t taken any form of medicines or pain killers because doing so prevents your own immune system from developing naturally.

As I said earlier though, I am not claiming that I would refuse life saving treatment if something was to happen to me that I couldn`t naturally fight against, that would be quite idiotic. I am simply stating that really, certain forms of illness and injury are supposed to be fatal and our advances in modern science and medicine have given us a somewhat unnatural extension to life.

My advice to those pushing for gay marriage...DON`T DO IT!

The state and/or federal legal system really gets its hooks into you if you ever decide to divorce. It is nothing short of a nightmare and mine took over a YEAR to finalize. Once you are married in the eyes of the law, ending the union means innumerable meetings with an attorney (all of which cost extra on top of filing fees. Hell, I got billed for time where he said he was thinking about my case while driving home!) and appearances with said legal council before the judge (which are billed at an exorbitant rate) as well as time off of work etc. It is not only costly but sucks the life out of you and invades every aspect of your existence.

Basically, if you ever want out you pretty much have to buy an attorney a new boat.

But if that sounds like a good deal to you then hey, knock yourself out.

@Wizard: That`s like saying no point in trying to discover a cure for cancer, we`d just die of something else.

@Baal, poor comparison. "Population control" means exactly that. Contraception, abstinence, and yes, even gay sex. You speak of war and disease. These are entirely different things. One is controlling the number of new lives we bring into the world, the other is mass culling of existing lives.

"@Wizard: That`s like saying no point in trying to discover a cure for cancer, we`d just die of something else."

Well sir, no. If you cure cancer then cancer is cured. If you end religion you do nothing in any way that stops man`s propensity to gather into groups and hate each other.

"In the long run, being gay is actually helpful evolutionary wise. Why? If everyone was straight, there would be a whooole lot more babies being born and overpopulation would happen a lot sooner."

um...seriously that statement is so profoundly flawed in so many ways, and on so many levels, that it would be impossible to address them all here.

At 2:05, I want to point out that this sign, biblically speaking, doesn`t make sense. While Leviticus does have many laws (including laws against certain haircutting rituals), it also goes beyond simply banning homosexuality-- it calls it an abomination. And of course, Leviticus was traditional Jewish law. In the New Testament, most of it was retired, but some actions considered inherently wrong (murder, homosexuality, hatefulness) were repeatedly described as sins.

Just thought I would keep it academic. The sign was very colorful.

So much time wasted flaunting their knowledge of a book written written by crazy people. Sure nowadays if I said I talked to a burning bush or parted the red sea or that I was the son of god and here to save all from their sins I would be put in a mental ward. But noooo jesus truly was the son of god because his book written after his time by people who never met him is the WORD OF GOD...humans interpretation of stories passed down through centuries like that telephone game I played in kindergarten cause I strictly remember that message going down the line and coming out correct o.O

Homosexuality probably did emerge as a construct of our social complexity. There is one hypothesis called the "exotic becomes erotic" that says when you`re a kid, you identify with the gender roles of either male or female. I, personally, think that the reason you identify with one or another is deeply rooted in genetics and development. Then as you emerge into puberty, you find the opposite gender to which you identified as erotic. It isn`t without it`s holes, but it does somewhat explain why homosexuals tend to have opposite gender temperaments.

I`m convinced that homosexuality didn`t come about as a method of "population control." It`s been around for the majority of modern history (several thousand years). Did we really need homosexuality as a method of population control when war, disease, starvation etc. killed most adults AND infants? Population hadn`t hit the exponential "spike" until ~100 years ago.

I was enjoying a refreshing sip of my beloved beverage, Mt Dew, when I read the "gay bridal registry" sign. I then choked on laughter. Maybe a little bit of Mt Dew, too, but mostly laughter.
