Yes Wolfish, there are those out there that want it only for recreational use... But the fact is there are medical reasons to try it as well.

How many people do you see taking prescription pain killers for recreation reasons? Just because some choose to abuse it is no reason those who could benefit should be kept from it.

Bloody hell- it is weed we are talking here you know! Not the end of civilization as we know it. It is a plant that grows- we smoke it and get intoxicated. We smoke tobacco, drink alcohol , yes weed is illegal, but not exactly a big deal.

Here is something else I`ve noticed:
City ordinance, city ordinance, city ordinance.

Big deal I can go to the nearest city.

The state of Tennessee has banned alcohol from within its borders. Haven`t heard of any violent crime over that.

We`re talking about a FEDERAL ban here.

I`m on the wall over the whole legalization aspect. On the one hand, if you want to do this stuff to yourself, knock yourself out. If you choose to make poor decisions regarding your health and well-being, go right on ahead. I won`t stop you.

On the other hand, if you affect me with your poor decisions, then expect me to have a say in what you do. This would mean harsher penalties for thefts that were directly tied to drugs. It also means harsher penalties for driving while under the influence of alcohol or mind-altering substances. Also, from what I understand, there is a second-hand high that comes from marijuana, so no smoking in public.

Now for the fun bit. Legalized marijuana will have a tax associated with it. This means you won`t be allowed to sell your own stock, just as if it were moonshine. If you do, you will face IRS penalties for unreported income. Not to mention your crop being destroyed by revenuers.

Violent crime revolves around what I would classify as a `black market` not just an illegal substance. There is a distinct difference between that which is illegal and that which is unlawful. While possession of the marijuana was illegal, in equity, the confiscation of that marijuana is unlawful, in law. I wish I could consult those individuals who lost their property in Tennessee, they have a strong case and possibly the finance to support the case against the state. Non-violent actions never bring violent recourse. Those individuals would still be liable for the stolen electricity or other services not paid for.

Chicago banned goose liver (foie gras), No one died over that. LA banned plastic bags, I haven`t read of any plastic bag smuggling.

Your argument fails.

I can and have talked above people`s heads before, Then you see that glazed look in their eyes and know you`ve lost them. So I`ve learned to keep my vocabulary simple and talk/type in vernacular.

Ok WTH? Why start bashing CJ? He has presented a logical and sane position. What`s with the insults just cuz he doesn`t agree? Calling him trailer trash? Insulting his intellect? That`s messed up. I love how libs who are "for the poor and undereducated" use trailer-park references and attacks on someone`s education when they cant debate the F-ing point on its own merit. Go through and read his posts. This is a smart guy. He is not "classically" educated to a higher level but I would be very interested in seeing a comprehensive IQ score from CJ. I am willing to bet its well above average.

CrackerJack, Id be glad to have a beer and a steak with you any time. We could have some great arguments (although we agree on far more things than we disagree) and still maintain respect. Don`t waste your logic and reason on cool-aid drinkers that let their politicks dictate their morality rather than the other way around.

They`ll invent a diagnosis on the spot, You pay them a fee, They write the prescription, you take the prescription to the head shop, The head shop will normally create a medical marijuana id card for you for free, You make your pick, Buy it and there you go.

Getting marijuana legalized is going to make it like any other MEDICATION that requires a PRESCRIPTION. So, unless you can fake something like...oh say: stage 4 cancer, glaucoma, epilepsy, or MS, then you will suffer the same legal ramifications as if you were caught in possession of it now.

Not necessarily, we`re talking about legalizing it for recreational use.

Now the other hand I mentioned the federal government banned alcohol almost a century ago. That didn`t work, and was turning honest hard working people into felons. Then 21st amendment was introduced leaving it to the states to regulate. I am in favor of this model.

I think thats the general point of people saying its not as bad as alcohol.

And usually stoners aren`t aggressive and abusive whil stoned while many drinkers are.

Basically be responsible with whatever you put in your body and dont put other people in harms way.

Driving after smoking even a small amount of marijuana almost doubles the risk of a fatal highway accident, according to an extensive study of 10,748 drivers involved in fatal crashes between 2001 and 2003. The researchers estimated that at least 2.5 percent of the 10,748 fatal crashes studied were directly caused by the use of marijuana. large on scale, but low on efficency, it`s weight not height that is important, you can get nine plants per square yard producing about 400 grams (16 street ounces)/ square yeard every 12 weeks (assuming you want the finest quality, slow grown stuff). This looks like someone built it with book learning, but without practical experience. This is working at about 40% of it`s capacity

Aww, aren`t you just the adorably naive one. I challenge you to name one first generation millionaire or billionaire that made his/her fortune without hurting anyone or bending/breaking some laws along the way to get there. The system doesn`t work that way. You don`t make money by working for a living. Any economist will tell you that.

This set up was an investment. The initial work was probably relatively minimal. The house might have been an old prohibition house that was renovated and modernized. The initial investment of work and time probably paid off quite handsomely ... until they got caught.

But for the record, it will just make you feel kind of dumb and lazy.

@CrackrJac Yep. And busting this basement of weed struck a MIGHTY blow against the cartels! Legions of mules were able to breath easy because of this. If the law were doing something about those sorts of crimes it would make a difference. This was pointless.

Driving stoned? REALLY? come on man. Stoners don`t kill or injure even a calculable fraction that drunk drivers do.

Pot doesn`t lead to other crime any more than booze does. People don`t break into a home for beer money. Know why? Too easy to get. Most drug driven burglaries are for hard drugs like meth etc.

People (like me) who don`t smoke pot make a choice not to get high. It being illegal has nothing to do with it. I never heard anyone say "oh id like to get high but its against the law so I don`t."

I have read many of your posts and normally your head is screwed on pretty straight. This time your argument is weak. Sorry man.

"It is a `REAL` crime, There are no `fake crimes`. This was multi-million dollar operation and you know he surely wasn`t paying taxes on it."

So that`s the only crime you find here? Not that "it turns your mind to mush" or "it will destroy families," but that he wasn`t paying taxes on it?

Actually, they have a video of the cave somewhere out there. It`s been a while since I have seen this, but here is what I randomly remember (too lazy to find the video). The cops were tipped off from the electric company, because they were stealing electricity or something like that. The house is out in the middle of nowhere. After these pictures, someone burned down the house. When the video was taken, it was way after the house burned down. The video is still interesting to watch though.

Just think of how much income it would generate for the state if this natural plant was legal and sold with a hefty tax.

You missed their point, idiot. They`re talking about a REAL crime, such as battery, theft, etc. Not a "crime" that doesn`t harm anyone.

Wizard77: I`m sure the cost will be more than mitigated (paid for) with the seizures of property involved. If these busts were not profitable toward the police and state they wouldn`t be doing them.

Also, If this keeps one or even a dozens kids pot free and less likely to get into trouble or protect one life from an intoxicated driver, It`s worth it.

What a waste of police time and our money. After an investigation that probably took over a year and had to of cost a truck-load of taxpayer cash, the cops busted...some pot growers. There will be absolutely no perceivable reduction in crime ANYWHERE because of this.

And no I don`t smoke pot or do any other illegal drugs. Just tired of my tax dollar getting spen on such BS.

IAmBoss: DEA and other authorities have had access to utility bills, cellphone records, and more for decades now. I`m sure the utility bills on this operation were way above any other normal house in the area. It is also likely the ventilation of such a place would emit enough scent for a drug dog to alert on.

The hard part was getting in, I believe the last picture may give clue as to how the security was defeated.

Their electric bill was HUUUGE unless they used solar panels for it all. Tips the cops off pretty well. Surely they were smart enough NOT to use a contractor. If not, then it would also show up in the building plans.

Dannng. I`ve been to one of these drug busts before. Was about the same size, an inch of water on the floor with soggy marijuana everywhere too. How did they get caught? Dude fell asleep and the stove caught fire while he was making something.

It was sad because there were pictures of their family strung up everywhere. It had definitely been lived in before he decided to grow pot throughout the entire one-level house.
