This is old... Remember the huge Tsunami in December of 2005 (?) in the indian ocean. Well all of these fish washed up because of that. I remember seeing these same pictures whenI was in 4th grade... no lie.

But this has extremely little research, it`s like someone googled "Weird Fish" and made a list.

Seriously, should I totally geek out?

Essentially the only animals in that photo which are relatively "Prehistoric" would be the giant isopod, the squid, mind you the prehistoric version had a shell. The crab, well sort of, but not those shown. There were two varieties of shark, but it isn`t known how long they`ve existed in that form as they are ultra deep species.

The only marine animals who have not changed since prehistoric times are the chambered nautilus, the Coelacanth, and an argument could be made for the Carcharodon sharks.

It Makes it hard to believe the Earth is as old as Scientist say it is. Seeing as how these creatures are believed to be extinct and here they are

Practically all species alive today are "prehistoric." That is, they existed before written human history.

We imagine life on other planets to be strange yet, the strangest I can ever imagine, don`t look as weird as the ones OUR planet.

Woah... I just had a deep moment.

Kudos to thechive.com for providing pictures with no captions that could possibly contain useless information like the name of the fish, or where it was caught.

#4 Xenomorph FTW!

Just because they look f*cking scary doesn`t mean they`re prehistoric. Calling them that just leads to creationists b*tching.

Except for maybe #14, pretty much all of these are modern day fish. Some of them are just found really really deep, like the anglerfish, so we aren`t used to their appearance or they are transparent since there is very little light down there. But that doesn`t make them prehistoric.

After all, a shark is prehistoric. They have been around as long as dinosaurs. But we are used to them because they are found in the same depth that we typically swim or go fishing, so we see them all the time. At least I do.
