fling your poo at fox news? by linking to a story on fox news? i don`t understand your reasoning there.
also we don`t need to fling poo on fox, they fling enough poo as it is.

The first paragraph of story:

"Experts predict the world will run out of internet addresses in less than a year, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Monday."

So why didn`t you just link to the original story. I guess because you couldn`t pass up a chance to fling your poo at Fox News once again.

And now we have Djer showing us all why poll after poll proves that libs are pitifully ill-informed on the issues. You all live in a little echo chamber and never allow yourselves hear anything from outside your protected little world. Don`t feel too bad, Djer, you`re in good company with Bob Schieffer. (I bet you don`t even know what I`m talking about.)

You Fox haters are so f***ing pathetic...

Djer - "Clicked the link, saw it was Faux News, closed the window."

Uh huh... You think that the world will not run out of IPv4 Addresses do you? I am pretty sure I`ve know about the shortage for at least 5 years. Its common knowledge for anyone who cares to read up on it. As dm2754 said, that is why they came up with IPv6. Most if not all devices manufactured in the last 2 years least have support for it.

"yeah we could switch to ipv6 but thats so much harder lol. that would mean that i would have to learn the network subnetting all over again, that stuff aint fun :("

Nahhhh, not learning to subnet all over again. Learning how to convert from decimal to Hex...Worse than subnetting IMO.

Uh, not only is this old news, but there`s already an implemented solution for this.

IPv6 for those that haven`t read any other comment.

This is a case of "Oh no! The world is dooomed! Unless I flick this switch of course *flick*, there! All better."

"Yea either we will spend trillions rerouting connections nationally. (stupid) or we just play it safe and use the solution that someone came up with 10 years ago. called IPv6, all of you are probably pre-configured to switch (vista/7) don`t panic yet."

yeah we could switch to ipv6 but thats so much harder lol. that would mean that i would have to learn the network subnetting all over again, that stuff aint fun :(

So... Wait... WTF happened to IPv5? o_0

I never knew refrigerators or air conditioners used IP addresses... Why? No, seriously, what would a refrigerator do online?

Although, I have my suspicions about the AC... Ever seen "The Brave Little Toaster"? Yeah... Except, now, instead of raging at a toaster and burning himself out, the AC gets to rage and bitch in his posts on Twitter...

$50 says someone`s already done a theme tweet about that. You know, like the Christmas Tree twitter or the Video Game Character twitters.

AND FINAL THOUGHTS...

4 BILLION?! EACH?!

Dude, I BARELY use 4! (Phone, PSP, PC, Xbox 360, and I VERY rarely connect with the PSP)

... I feel like I`m not quite living up to my potential...

"forced to buy new hardware"? Yeah, only if your router is from the 90s mate. Whilst I hate fox this is technically true, but ipv6 has been up and running for over a decade now so the swith will be easy and painless. Not that there will even be a switch, IPV4 will still be used just new addresseds will be ipv6 exclusively, instead of IPV4 with an IPV6 handle.

IPv6 will do the trick. I know they are hesitant, but why not just make new devices backward compatible like they do with other network stuff (Routers that support G and N formats for example).

Faux news needs to contact the cyber police, and the state police. They should back trace the problem. If this comes to fruition, consequences will never be the same.

Tax the sh*t out of IP addresses and kill two birds with one stone- free up more IPs, and keep poor people off the internet

uh, except we are running out of ip addresses..
On April 15, 2009, the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), sent a letter to all CEO/Executives of companies who have IPv4 addresses allocated informing them that ARIN expects the IPv4 space will be depleted within the next two years.

Foxnews said something, must be false!
