Depends on the household. It`s fairly even here. It really depended on mom/dad.

Mom: You`re not feeling good? Stay home.

Dad: You`re alive? Go to school.

As far as the staying home from school thing, totally untrue and equal in my house growing up...we could be bleeding to death or dying from something, and my parents would be like "take a *insert OTC meds here* and go to school". This went for me or my brothers. However, on other things, boys ALWAYS get away with everything while the girls get away with nothing. My room and privacy was constantly invaded growing up. This did not happen to my brothers. Oldest brother smoking weed? Ok, big deal, dont smoke in the house(to parents). They find condoms in MY room? ZOMG! End of the world as we know it! Girls get more freedom my a$$.

Um... that`s really not how it is at all. My parents don`t give me much space or freedom. I think in most cases it`s the opposite of this post. The son gets more freedom and the parents don`t trust their daughter. At least that`s how it is with most girls and their parents that I know...

It was the other way round for me! My brother could stay out because my mom knew he couldn`t be out with a girl, where as I wasn`t allowed to because I`d be staying with my boyfriend... it`s better than masturbating!

I have dissension with the last one! Boys are the ones who get babied when sick. Women suck it up and still come home from work and wash the dishes. Fact of life, Mom did it, I do it, had to be pretty much puking uncontrollably to be kept home from school as a teenager.
Guys, on the other hand, get room service and unlimited tv.

"If you assert this is true, you are inherently wrong. You can come at me with anecdotal evidence, but anecdotal evidence is not statistically sound. I, in fact, had the opposite experience growing up and know lots of other young women who were thought little of by their parents. Do those anecdotes therefor negate your experiences? Do they then establish that young men have it "easier" than young women when it comes to their parents` opinion of them.

No. Latching onto a generalization because it`s easy is feeble, lazy, and weak minded.

Troll me. I have no compunction in saying that you`re pathetic if you laughed at this and/or found it true. I`m sure you also think Andrew Dice Clay is a genius and The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is the best movie ever made."

Daughter: "There was that guy she was going on
about last night so, she must be in there rubbing
out a few and I`ll give her some space.
Maybe I should buy her a vibrator.
No, she`ll just think I`m creepy rather than
noticing my sympathy.
I bet she didn`t notice I didn`t say anything
about her and her buddy taking my new camcorder
in there last weekend.
Looks like they taped over the recording of me
making her mom cum from an ass-ramming.
They probably didn`t see it. That`s a relief.

So, what did they tape on th-HOLY SHi#!!!
She likes girls too??!! Man, does she look like
her mother... Her buddy is pretty limber!

I better leave this where she can get it back and
erase it...
Or did they want me to find it?"

"Also, when you live with a male guardian, a lot of these things are reversed. My sister and I couldn`t even have guys in our bed rooms with the door OPEN, but my uncle (who`s only slightly older than my sister) was allowed to have girls spend the night in his bed room. Door closed and all."

This is because your `male guardian` knows that you and your sister`s male friends are there for one reason and one reason only: Doing it. Or pleasantries that build up to and hopefully eventually lead to, doing it. Women know this deep down but always have excuses like `oh he`s a really good friend of mine.` Yea. A really good friend who wants to do it. There wouldn`t be much sense in telling a guy to leave his door open or not have girls over because they`ll just find another place to try and get in your pants, i.e. your house.

Oh man, I WISH I had gotten some kind of emotional understanding BS for all those things.

Also, when you live with a male guardian, a lot of these things are reversed. My sister and I couldn`t even have guys in our bed rooms with the door OPEN, but my uncle (who`s only slightly older than my sister) was allowed to have girls spend the night in his bed room. Door closed and all.

So yeah, I can see some families following this chart, but the roles tend to be somewhat reversed (with less "oh poor son" thoughts) when living with the male parent.

its just like dads see their sons and daughters:

in a relationship for 6+ months:

daughter - he better not be touching her anywhere but her hand

parents will always have a double standard for their offspring

Wrong.
Door closed - She`s sick, she`s depressed, she`s on the computer, or she`s asleep. Either way, she needs to go outside and make some friends.
Bathroom - She`s sick, or she`s masturbating in the shower (which is gross because girls `don`t do that`, according to my mother... :/)
On the computer - Go outside and get a life, geek.
Stays after school - She`s probably having sex with one of her male friends.
Sick - this one can go either way. If I haven`t vomited, she`s say `It`s cramps. Take some advil and go to school.` If I have, it`s more like `Drug your higher functions into a coma and watch Blackadder. I`ll check in every hour, but go to school if you feel better. Buh Bye!`

-If my bedroom door is closed: I am masturbating.

-Bathroom for an hour: Shower + shave + get dressed = 30 minutes. 1hour = passed out drunk.

-On Computer all day: Playing a game, otherwise I am on XBox or playing with my DS or PS3.

-Stayed after school: Detention/punishment, or getting high at friends place (back when I was in High School)

-Sick Days: At school because it`s less annoying than being at home where my mom babysits, so I can`t sleep in my bed all day because the kids need to have a nap. And I can`t lay on the couch all day because they watch TV when they`re not sleeping. And if I needed to puke, they were in the bathroom....grrr. School was a better place to be sick at than home.

Actually I was shocked at the time how differently he treated his kids, I thought him unduely harsh on his daughter, and way to lax on his pot-smokin party-all-night oldest son.
