"especially if you`re Vancouver police and have had to put up with riots for the past few weeks."

Volsunga, what riots? There have been no riots here in Vancouver. I think you`re thinking of Toronto and the G20 summit.

This was right downtown, near East Hastings and Main, which is home to the world`s largest open drug market. There`s a movie out that was filmed in 1998 or so called "Through a Blue Lens" documenting life on the DTES (downtown East side)through the viewpoint of the police that patrol the area and the addicts and mentally handicapped people who call it home.

The woman you see in the video has cerebral palsy - the 3 officers were merely walking down the side walk when she tried to get around them, brushed into the one, and was subsequently pushed to the ground. He later reported the incident to his supervisor and has apologized to the woman in person. I think he`s on desk duty now while the police investigate what happened.

"I initially thought she looked like a crackhead looking for a fix. But cops in uniform in a crackhead neighbourhood? Unlikely."

Actually, I am from vancouver and you can tell by the huge number of homeless people on the sidewalk that this is the downtown eastside, East Hastings Street, one of the most famous crackhead neighbourhoods in the world. Plus, there is a Vancouver Police Department office building a block away from the area. Uniformed police is quite common.

I saw this on the news. Apparently this woman has a disability. If you watch, she gets confused and tries to get out of their way, but then gets pushed down. So pathetic of those cops.

This is what cops do. I mean how many videos like this have to come out for people to understand that?

If it is Vancouver, that area is full of drug addicts and the mentally-ill homeless. Shame if what the video is showing is true and he went out of his way to abuse the women.

I read about this. That woman wasn`t drunk or stoned or something. She`s handicapped. Pretty disgusting if you ask me.

(For some reason IAB won`t let me properly post the link because its a "word longer than 40 characters", so just fix the added spaces for the link to work)

@ Volsunga, i read this on dailyrotten.com, the lady had celebral palsy, and seeing as its fairly obvious she`s disabled on a blurry poor quality camera, I`m guessing it would have been clear as day she was disabled in real life. these cops are complete and utter douchebags.

ok, one of two things could have happened.
1. the girl was intentionally trying to antagonize or run into the police officer, in which case the officer was justified.
2. the girl was extremely drunk and/or high. in which case, the officer would have been justified if he arrested her after shoving her to the ground.

since when is pushing somebody out of your way when they won`t do it voluntarily "shocking behaviour`? especially if you`re Vancouver police and have had to put up with riots for the past few weeks.

Well this obviously takes place on E. Hastings, or somewhere near. If I was walking down that street (which I wouldn`t) and some weirdo who couldn`t walk properly bumped into me, I would sure as hell push them down too.

Oh. Then the shove is 100% justified.

@Golkar I dated a guy who was in school to become a police officer. Him and his friends were all power tripping a-holes, but hilariously after they graduated none of them made it into the force. That gives me some hope lol. Otherwise I`ve never had a problem with police officers.

Might I add corrupt beyond belief. When the police chief`s kid is getting pot FROM HIM, you`ve got a problem.

It is Hastings street, Vancouver.
She does have cerebral palsy.
The officer thought that she was going for his gun...though the original article had no mention of this.

I would say she has a disability by the way she walks in a waddle penguin like way before and after she is pushed. Drunks and addicts wouldn`t walk like that. Cop pushes her from the side/back after she is going round him which is wrong...

If she was so obviously on drugs, MissVass, the cop would have arrested her, you have to watch closely, she bumps into him. He pushes her, yells at her for a moment, then lets her walk away.

Vass ur an idiot and ur guarantee or option means nothing. She has cerebral palsy. It took me less then two minutes to find out. Why? Cause I really wanted to know instead of making some half a$$ guess. He just pushed her for no reason.

She stumbled into the police officer, got pushed down. Thats OK.

Who knows what was wrong with her, but the video looked like the entire street was full of homeless people, and she had an really awkward gait. Some weirdo bumps into me, I push them off too.

Haha you have an escape plan as well?

I`ve been telling everyone I know that I plan to escape to Canada in the next 5 years if we don`t start to reverse the deficit.

What are some other countries that you have in mind?

I gotta agree with Oystah on this one. Looks like a drunk doing drunk things.

I can guarantee there is nothing "medically wrong" with her.

Do you know what the word `guarantee` means?

(Hint: it doesn`t mean `in my opinion`.)

This is probably on Main St, Hastings St. Vancouvers downtown east side has N. Americas highest concentration of HIV/HEP.
Junkies line the street by the thousands, and most of them don`t bother using the needle boxes, they just toss their nasty needles in the street.
The action of that cop was out of line, pushing her from behind. I can guarantee there is nothing "medically wrong" with her. SHE IS AN ADDICT, just like the rest of them.
I used to live in Vancouver, but moved away from the area because of the HUGE drug problem in the downtown area. I used to have sympathy, feel sad for them, not anymore!

@ elhowell

The video`s title on youtube says she has multiple sclerosis, I have no idea if this is true though. Either way a grown man should not be shoving a woman half his size to the ground for no reason.
