Steven Ortiz, 17, spent 2 years on Craigslist trading and bartering and earned himself a convertible Porsche. Nice.

@IABbrandon,
I was thinking the exact same thing...probably because some people don`t like seeing others get stuff through cleverness and perseverance rather than the "right" way such as slaving away to get it. No jackweed better steal this kid`s prize.

I heard about this on K-LOVE....the porsche is only worth $9,000, but a porsche is a porsche!!!!

I`d be more interested if i cared about cars. Someone owning a Porsche doesn`t impress me. to me a car is a car. Definitely very clever of him though.

"I simply don`t believe it. And if it is true, the car has to be messed up. You can see front end damage."

I`d rather have a Porsche with some damage then no Porsche.

Especially if it`s just panel damage. That can be fixed pretty easily/cheaply if you have a decent place that won`t overcharge.

Ahem, he`s smart enough to get a Porsche by age 17, AND he drives a Porsche. He`s pure awesome.

This requires a LOT of skill. He fixed up broken items to make them more valuable. My dad is constantly getting broken crap he thinks he`s going to fix and sell, yet it`s either broken beyond cheap repair or he doesn`t get around to it anyway.

Didn`t some guy do something like this with a red paperclip a few years ago?

Lol, try paying the insurance on that. 17 year old male with a Porshe will be thousands of dollars a year, probably tens of thousands.

MandyLea: It appears as though he is still young enough to be on his parents auto policy and the article states that he makes extra money fixing electronics and selling them online. So, It`s entirely possible that he can afford it for the time being.

there`s no way that he could afford the insurance/registration costs. Not to mention that a simple oil change will cost him a fortune. he`s better off driving a rusty two door Ford Focus like the other kids at his school.

One red paperclip traded all the way up to a house.
