But check the 3rd bullet point at the top of the article. Maybe it only works for kids.

Seriously? Make your kids do their homework. Thats what parents are supposed to do. Stop blaming the internet for your crappy parenting skills. Jesus Christ! At least we know one things true. The world is definately coming to an end. Stupidity will be the death of us all

Setting time limits and restrictions is just asking for problems. That doesn`t solve anything, really, it just pisses the kids off. I know this personally. >.> Parents just need to involve themselves more into their child`s life.

No, the damage is in kid`s social skills. Period..... Took my kid to the skating rink i grew up at that was the bomb hang out place. Poor rink had like 8 people their on a Friday night. Because the rest of our city`s youth was at home on their PC`s "socializing" with the world, yet having zero actual human contact. Kids`s social skills are the main problem and it is getting worse

* Social media `distracts kids from school`
* Parents should set strict internet times
* Join us over on Facebook | Twitter

Wait, what? you think social media sites make people dumber so we should join you on them?

Can I have 20cc of irony injected into my veins stat?

this article was terribly written. ignoring the 3rd bullet point, they used the opinions the mothers of teens as evidence, a dozen weasel words (look it up if you don`t know) and didn`t give any explanation as to who these "cyber-security experts" are or what sort of qualifications they have. maybe they`re part of the "Cyber Police"! (anyone? anyone?)

Another news article came out a couple days ago, probably on iab, stating that social media are not in fact making students dumber. Also, read the top comment on the article, Gus sounds like a f-tard.

"Apparently, scientific studies and facts have been replaced by parental hunches."
I think they have joined forces into an unstoppable force of super-facts. Scientific studies of parental hunches...

Siyanor, I agree. Also they aren`t taking into account that it may not necessarily be facebook making people dumber. Rather, kids who are more popular and spend more time on their friends in general would spend less time on homework while the lonely kids have nothing better to do but schoolwork and not much going on in their virtual social life.

...I am a psychologist, but you don`t have to be to know that people do stuff they want to do when given an option. This is not a study at all. It`s pollsters being retarded.

Dumber...no.

If anything those sites along with texting are slowly but surely taking away our face to face conversational skills. People that text and facebook all day and always have something to say online are sometimes the most socially inept when it comes to face to face interaction.

To all the people commenting how stupid the article was: no poo. The point of this link wasn`t the article itself, just the 3rd bullet point that proves this is just a big load of bull or they are hypocrites.

Brilliant.

Kids are misbehaving so rather than find a logical cause for it, we`re just going to blame the most popular thing among youths. Nothing new here.

So add this to video games making everyone dumber, and TV and rock and roll...
...then again, could it all explain the reversal of the Flynn Effect?

"more than half of their parents believe."
Stopped reading the article here. That`s about as convincing of an argument as me telling you that "My penis is 3 feet long. Half of the girls I`ve had sex with say so!" So drating what? You don`t open up with that weak of evidence.
