Your free will is meant to be used once: in giving it up to follow God`s will. From then on you try to do what God`s will is.
Right from wrong is taken both LITERALLY from the Bible and from the Holy Spirit which guides your steps and serves as you consciouns (misspelled, all well, you get the point).
Being a better person is NOT what gets you into Heaven, what get`s you into Heaven is believing that Jesus is the son of God and having a relationship with Him.
And last, but not least, the Bible attains to all situations, you just need to find the right part. If you can`t find what is relevant, there is the Holy Spirit to guide you and

Why would i want to live in the land owned by a total douchebag? if he doesnt exist, then well i win. If he does exist, then I still win because i`m better than him. btw, i like the sound of the CFTPAWOTGOTB,OE. Best sounding organization ever.

Like it or not, that is exactly like the bible god is. According to the bible, the only reason that someone will burn in hell for all eternity...is simply for not believing. I did not write the book and before one of the sheep tells me that there is a special way to read the bible... just forget it.

@DDJ: religiosity in the U.S. varies greatly by region. The South the most religious place in the United States (the Bible Belt). The Midwest is also fairly religious. Historically, the Pacific Northwest has been the most irreligious region with a far lower belief in God and poor church attendence (the Unchurched Belt)than any other region though now New England probably has that distinction.

DDJay replied:
it seems much easier to be secular here than the states from what i read.

handys003 response:
That may be true about Europe, but what appears to be asserted by media and trolls is not that all true about the states. Vast majority of people in the USA could not give a rat`s ass about the neighbors views. They are too busy just like Europeans with their own day to day problems. If your a secularist moving in next door. More than likely your gonna find an EV, Mormon, Muslim, Atheist etc... as your neighbor.
If your cool and not trouble or a thug more than likely you`ll be over for BBQ. It`s the small amount of radical pompous ass loud mouths that will poke up but usually the odds it won`t be your neighbor. Birds of a feather flock together.

Dear HunterKiller,
I think this has everything to do with doubt. YoungOola was not just throwing in his two cents to defend his own beliefs. He claimed that the maker of this video doesn`t know anything about Christianity and seemed clearly distraught considering his word choice.

What I`m saying is that this animosity is brought about by doubt about one`s own beliefs (something everyone has) and instead of taking this doubt and negatively reflecting it outwards he should address it.

The video was a fun poke at Christianity. Making light of something many people take seriously. Someone comfortable with their religious beliefs would understand this.

kind of makes some points, but in a dawkins `you all must be stupid` way. i am a non-believer and i`m happy with that. what annoys me is people who tell me i cant be happy unless i believe. it seems much easier to be secular here than the states from what i read. i friend of mine asked a question about someones religion on facebook and the response was horrible. she pretty much got condemned to hell. surely we should ask questions. thats how we find answers. but sometimes it feels dangerous to do so. very religious people can be scary and so narrow-minded.

@LuckyDucky it really has nothing to do with doubt in this case. It`s simply making a point.

Please, I`d like to see people here react to something that makes a mockery of what they believe in.

I`m not saying I`m Christian but seriously, don`t blame certain people for getting their "counter" opinion to videos or pictures or what have you.

Its pathetic that a person would attempt to ridicule Christianity without having really any idea about what it means to be a Christian. Not all of us go around telling people that they`ll go to hell if they don`t repent their ways immediately. I`m personally Catholic and believe that everyone has a chance to turn to God, but if you don`t, its none of my business. Just don`t go out of your way to make believers look like douchebags.

People aren`t suggesting that the Abrahamic god picked up a pen and parchment and wrote it down, but that he put it in the minds of chosen people. Wrote in the sense of being the author of, not in the sense of the physical act of writing.

If that god exists (or, more accurately, existed at that time), it would be possible. It`s no more ridiculous than their existence.

Thank you for being a perfect example of what`s wrong with Christianity (and many other religions).

I`m slightly sad that you`re ruled by fear and want everyone else to be, but only slightly. I don`t know you and I don`t respect you, so I`m only slightly saddened by it. I`m also, unsurprisingly, unmoved by your threats. Bullying by proxy only works if the threat is believed. In my personal belief god lets good people into heaven if indeed that is the afterlife setup, and I`m technically Roman Catholic.
____

Yeah... Roman Catholics DO NOT teach that God wrote the Bible. As someone who has been taught by them, I can tell you that they teach Jews wrote the Old Testament under inspiration from God, and that Apostles and other followers of Christ wrote the New Testament under inspiration of the Holy Spirit (a part of God).

When the Bible says, quite literally `This part was written by Luke` I don`t know why they`d be led to think that we think God literally wrote it. Luke wrote it.

I have no idea where the creator of this video gets this.

In fact, the only part of the bible that it says god literally wrote was the ten commandments, and then god dictated the the other 5 or 6 hundred (i forget the number) laws to moses.

that is all :-)

(this argument is making the assumption that everything the bible says is true as to not piss anyone off. I am an athiest and I just want someone to explain their logic to me.)

1. the old testiment was written by slaves in babylonia to keep track of their history. In judaism this is an accepted fact. their is evidence. some of it is even in the old testament. Since this is also the christian old testament it couldn`t have been written by god.

2. the new testiment is people writing about prophetic visions or (in the case of the gospels) the story of jesus as they witnessed and understand it.

To all Christians that do not appreciate this video read this.

Think about how it feels for your Religion to be degraded. In a Christian dominated culture, an atheist is almost constantly surrounded by people that think differently. Now this isn`t bad, most of my friends are Christian, but when they are all told to "Spread the Word of the Lord," and convert all non-believers we can feel repressed leading to many atheists to not be able to "come out" as they think they would be looked down upon for it. In addition whenever an atheist decides to speak up about his beliefs, Christians instantly get up-in-arms about him degrading their religion, and since Christians heavily out-number atheists he will usually sink back down into keeping his beliefs to himself, while the Christians go back to trying to convert the world content with t

@minitimm, that is why I hate the Bible Belt. You`re quite welcome to your opinion, but the majority of us don`t give a poo whether you think we`re going to hell or not, especially if we don`t believe in a god. Also, the definition of hell is "eternally without God," so my question is, why WOULDN`T I want to "go to hell" if I don`t believe in God anyway?

No - it was still pointless. In lieu of going off on a diatribe of how comically ironic it is for someone who claims atheism to put this much effort and faith into their own lack-of-religion religion, I decided to simply post a one line statement instead.

You have to admit, if, truly, one believes that there is no God, why would they put ANY effort at all into the argument? What purpose does it serve?

An upside-down cross is on the pope`s chair because St. Peter
(whom catholics believe basically created their church) was crucified on an upside down cross, and so it`s considered the symbol of St. Peter.

Well, Gerry, I for one am highly amused by your puns. Keep them coming! And for those who aren`t aware, there is a tradition that when Peter (whom the Roman Catholics claim was their first pope) was going to be crucified for his faith by the Romans, said he wished to be crucified upside down, as he didn`t deserve to be killed in the same way as his Lord, Jesus Christ. So they did. Don`t say as I believe that, but it is a tradition.

Revelation 20:12 - I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

There is no haggling with God, All sins will be laid bare and we will all have to answer for them.

At least that`s not what those drating religious fanatical nutjobs told me when I used to go to church. You must believe, you must worship and live the bible. And you must spread the word of jesus christ and some other bullpoo. And you must get baptized cause if you don`t then you`re AUTOMATICALLY going to hell. Yep, that`s what they told me.

It`s doesn`t matter that I do good things and have done good things and have given selflessly to good causes. Nope, I must be dunked in some water by a guy who probably molest his kids in the middle of the night.

SCREW THAT!

My philosophy: help those that cannot help themselves, be a good person, be true to yourself, live fearlessly, learn something new everyday and then eventually die and go six feet under. What more is there?
