Proof Tik Tok & California Gurls Are The Same Song

Submitted by: TurtleTurtle 6 years ago Entertainment

More proof that Katy Perry and Ke$ha are creatively bankrupt? Their hit songs are pretty much exactly the same song.

Both these songs are decent. This mash-up sounds like somebody is drilling into my eardrums to replace them with liquid pain.
I don`t care if they`re the same - I still like them. They aren`t musical gold, but they`re enjoyable.

"Producer often do this. They steal songs all the time and just change a few notes here or there, because they know people will buy it up by the truckloads."

Even furthermore, both songs in question were produced by the same person. All he did was rip off himself.

The actual artists really have little to do with it. All they do is basically show up and sing the song.

Pretty much all pop songs have the same chord progression. It`s not that they`re the same song so much as that they all use the same three or four chords. Music is funny like that. You could do this same thing with any two pop songs and it would work. It`s not exclusive to pop either; just about every punk rock, hard rock and heavy metal song is some variation of E5, C5, D5, G5 and most are in either Em or Dm.

California Gurls is a friggin` annoying song. I typically like cheap pop songs, but California Gurls just bugs me. I think it`s Katy Perry`s voice because I hated that Kissed a Girl song too. I actually prefer Tik Tok.

a mash-up proves nothing. This is what mash-up artists do. They make two formulaic songs sound as if they are one.

Granted, the source material is total tripe. But that is beside the point.

Not even a similarity.

Unless you are saying that since the other female raps, Ke$ha is ripping her off because she is female as well.

If that`s the case then, fail.

auto-tuning ruined pop music. There hasn`t been any tolerable pop songs since the late `80s, which was when auto-tuning started to come into common usage.
Then again, the whole Pop Genre is nothing but forced memes by the RIAA cartel.

WTF are you going on about?

I`m stating a simple fact. It`s not only obvious, but it`s been said by more than a few people in the business.

When an artist gets bigger, the fame goes to their head, and the music suffers for it. Happens all the time.

So, yeah. STFU.

Know what? F*ck any and all mainstream music. From the past, present, or future. All of it sucks. Especially mainstream rap, but I`m not even going to get into that...

And there`s actually a reason for it. When an artist goes mainstream, they tend to forget that they`re supposed to be making music for fun, and to enjoy it. They start making music for the money, and it all goes to sh*t.

The underground, the stuff you have to look for, what you have to work to find, what you don`t hear on the radio... That`s the only music worth listening to, because the artists aren`t making music to get record deals and make millions. They make it because they like to.

I`m, glad my favorite artists are still small.

That said... Katy Perry`s hot enough to forgive her sh*tty music... *drool*

need to add to what I said ... I was meaning mainstream music. Actual music nowadays made by orchestras , groups like the Boston Pops , tenors , etc are all actual music that have had thought and spirit put into them.

Had to post on this. Today`s music isn`t that great due to that magical " Auto-tuner " , the attitude of the performers that are on stage ( Kanye West for example ) ,etc.

The children in our society clearly follow entertainers as role-models ... and I think that it is somewhat disturbing seeing 12 year olds in provocative clothing, and acting how their favorite entertainers act ( mimicry ) .

Most great songs from this century weren`t written by the entertainers themselves ... but by famous songwriters; but I think it`s still amazing that many great bands DID in fact write their own music . Most entertainers now simply pay to have a song written.

I`ve found that one of the best guitarists around nowadays is Santana cause he actually plays music that he writes.

Alot of the crap nowadays that we call music consists of 3 rifts , a vox or autotuner , or rifts taken from old songs that were great.

They probably got this song from a song writter/producer dude who sells his music to tons of different labels, thus having different singers/bands with the same song.

@Stane ... why did you just copy pasta someone else`s comment?

@deathxcore Hey, people can like whatever they want. I`m not telling them not to like it.

Today`s music doesn`t suck because it`s different or new, it sucks because the current "artists" *can`t even sing*. Hardly any of them even write their own songs. That`s not subjective, and it`s true. Music has definitely been going downhill for a while now.

I said myself that the music I grew up with sucked lol. This has nothing to do with nostalgia.

@addler lol I love when kiddies insist I must just be missing my youth. Take a look at my picture. I am just 23 years old, which *is* young. I`d say I`m in the best years of my life right now. For my age, I have accomplished quite a bit. I have plenty of money in the bank, a successful career I love where I work my own hours and I just recently bought my very own house. Do you really think I would rather be a silly little high school kid who still lives with mommy and daddy? Yeah, right. lol

You haven`t heard good music because you missed it. The music you grew up with sucks. Sorry. Deny it all you want, but it`s true. Not one of the big artists of your time can even sing without mass amounts of digital alterations. That`s pretty bad. It has nothing to do with what I grew up with. Infact, most of the music I grew up with sucked, but at least we got the tail end of the good stuff.

If you can`t tell that the music in this post sucks, it`s too late for you.

The formula works every time, and absolute crap perpetuates the airwaves and makes them a ton o` cash.
