Turns out Apple knew about the reception flaw before release. You"re still just holding it wrong, though.

Ok, one, of course Apple knows about the problems, you`d have to be living in a nuclear bunker not to. Two, Steve Jobs never said "You`re holding it wrong" that Email was proved fake ages ago, not that it wasn`t blindingly obvious anyway. Seacrest out.

I`m not a basher. I love apple and I love pc. I have a Macbook and a mini hp (college student...I need something lightweight to take to classes with me). I would personally never get an iphone though. My dad went through 2 or 3 before the one he has now works properly. And he loves it! You gotta remember this though...it`s just technology. Not everything can be perfect all the time. There will be flaws. I prefer to stick with my itouch. I use it for MUSIC! ^_^

I can`t believe there are still so many mindless sheep out there who need to get an iPhone just because it`s an iPhone. They suck, the service sucks, and it`s all overpriced. What a waste.

This wouldn`t be a problem if people didn`t have the need to be the first to have something new. Any review from a technology website or magazine would have pointed it out within a few weeks. Apple knows what they`re doing and realized that they could release a flawed product and rake in millions before people noticed.

And I found this statement on the official Apple webpage and got a kick out of it...

"As a reminder, if you are not fully satisfied, you can return your undamaged iPhone to any Apple Retail Store or the online Apple Store within 30 days of purchase for a full refund"

Haha, undamaged?! I think too many people are out of luck then. I would`ve tossed mine against a brick wall by now! ^_^

I went to the att store store yesterday. I`m planning on getting the palm pre plus. The guy tried to talk me into the iphone. So, I asked him about the reception problems I`ve been hearing about. He told me that it was simply a software issue and the patch should be sent out within a day or two. Don`t know how accurate this info is...but...I`m still not getting an iphone.

The only people that care about the iPhone 4 having bad reception are the zombies that own one. Hooray for thinking outside of the box!

This is what you get for keeping your technology on such lockdown that I gaurantee the testers didnt even ge to hold these...Or if they did, it was connected to some kind of holding apparatus preventing the testers from applying real world uses to this phone.

if "bumpers" make the phone work then apple should just give them away with the phone ffs.
And to anyone who complains` about the phone.
Apples careless attitude towards its ever growing crowd of fan boys is disgusting. they don`t care about their customers at all.

This comment posted in response to the article on mashable.com sums it up:

"The problem is not the phone here. (yes, the issue is remedied by a bumper case)... it`s Apple`s attitude and handling of their own customers... but the customers keep lining up, like battered wives, ready to take one in the eye and then turn around and defend their abuser :("

Remeber the Wii remote straps breaking and HDTV`s being smashed? Nintendo admitted the problem and sent replacements to those that wanted them...for free. The Apple has fallen far from the tree

I dont think its as bad as its being made out to be. I think that apple is trying to avoid people all just wanting free stuff for no reason, even if their phone does work. Didnt the phone go through so much testing beforehand?

But at the same time, apple should offer free repairs to fix the problem or something, if its a hardware issue.

Is there any reason for the gap to be in that place? It would make far more sense, from and engineering standpoint to put the gap around where the headphone jack is.

Of course there is no reception issue as the article states. The phone gets reception. Just how much does it get? Misdirection marketing as usual.

I think it`s a design feature.

One solution to the "problem" is to hold the phone a special way. How many people will do exactly that because it`s free? Now you have a bunch of iSnobs with a "secret handshake". Apple people will be able to recognize others by the way they hold their phone. Yeah, Apple had this planned--the other solution is to buy a new band/bumper thing.

The funny thing is, in a few weeks all will be forgotten/forgiven as Apple people adapt and continue to feel like Sneetches with stars.

Microsoft needs to sieze this change and rise up, shape up, and overtake Apple.

Down with them!

* Another little appreciated benefit of Class Actions is that in a case where a large number of people are only harmed *slightly*, no single person has an incentive to go and sue for compensation. The class action device holds defendants accountable for the numerous yet individually small harms inflicted on a large group of people.

"class action law suit?"

People misunderstand class action lawsuits, which are NOT inherently bad. In fact, in certain cases, its far better for EVERYONE to settle common claims in one action, rather that force the parties to separately litigate.

THESE ARE NOT FRIVOLOUS CLAIMS. There MAY be merit to this if Apple knowingly marketed a defective product. Its a breach of the implied warranty of merchantability (which provides that a product is suitable for its ORDINARY PURPOSE) to sell a HANDHELD PHONE that doesn`t work when HELD IN THE HAND.

So yes, you are right, "only in America" does our justice system efficiently handle legal cases involving numerous persons harmed by a single defendant.

hahahahahaha, and a ha ha ha and a THANK GOD to the END of the Apple fan`s delusions of superiority.

See? Its not magical, Apple products are NOT superior. Sure, they are good, but just as capable of being broken as anything else.

As far as I know, I do not own any apple products. When my new laptop came with iTunes as the default media player, I couldn`t hit that Uninstall button fast enough.

And thanks to nonsense like this, I don`t think that will change any time soon.
