definitely crappy. For a start, it`s a rip-off of an idea from Hitchhiker`s Guide to the Galaxy, then what if you were the one person who bullied the ginger kid who became the next Hitler who destroyed the world in a Global Thermonuclear War which knocked the planets out of alignment and created a mass knock-on effect, thus wiping out every single one of those billions of galaxies?

The person who did that wouldn`t be so insignificant - and a douche. He`s probably called Greg. Yeah Greg, you big douche. Nice one, thanks.

(btw, I am not ginger and personally know no-one called Greg)

Funny because we`re not insignificant at all
i have a lot of close friends, my whole family gets along, i work 2 jobs directly helping over 100 people a day...the list goes on

This is a grim way of looking at life when you could just as easily reflect on how significant you are.

@msimmons

insignificant in what way? in terms of size, colour, weight?

sure, lets go with size, as that`s what it`s saying we`re tiny in... well, we arent even the biggest land mammal... so what? we`re less significant than an elephant? again... in what way?

please read what i wrote before criticising. it is the nature of significance, if you want a little clue.

Or... you can just take the shirt for what it says, which is that you are insignificant relative to the universe. You know, considering that is what you are being compared to and all.

so stupid.

significance is relative.

am i more or less significant than a mountain? i am smaller, sure, and less permanent too, but i can sing songs, write plays, kick dogs, invent machines, do so so so much more than a mountain/planet/galaxy RELATIVE to what my own existence means.

bigger doesnt equal more important. it just equals bigger.

You cannot determine significance without stating your point of reference. You are duty bound to say to whom you are significant or not. I am significant to me, and you are significant to you. We are all significant to someone, if only to outselves.

If we are the only planet with "us" living things on it out of all those other galaxies. We`re hot stuff compared to the rest of outer space which doesn`t have football and sucks.

you are an organism composed of hundreds of bones that form the framework for networks of nerve and blood and energy, all composed of over 10 trillion cells, each of which is a virtual little city of organelles and moving parts, transporting, copying information, reproducing, exchanging threads of proteins and codes which are in turn made up of hundreds of molecules made of various numbers of atoms which each contain their own tiny solar system of electrons, protons...

You are a galaxy.

Size is irrelevant.

It`s merely glorious to exist.

insignificant to who? in terms of the universe? im pretty significant to a lot of people, if you think about the amount of people you`ve affected and the amount of people they`ve affected just silghtly different because of you, and so on, you`ll find yourself being scarily important to a lot of people`s lives. so just to be on the safe side, try to be nice, try and make things better, not worse.

based on this data, if my calculations are correct (after a drunk 12.30 (yeesh, is it still only that?) on a monday night), that means the odds of your existence are 1 to 1.786*10^33 against. based on 1/7bil * 1/8 * 1/100bil * 1/100bil. Corrections?

I am sorry but the reason they removed Pluto from being a planet is cause its so small which is bullcrap.

If you look at the entire galaxy and base what is a planet or not on size I am pretty sure our solar system will lose some more planets.. Hell look at the stars (suns) ours is a tiny ass sun based on all the stars in our galaxy so we gonna classify it as something else?

Pluto will forever be a planet screw those stupid scientist. In the words of ICP:

"And I don`t wanna talk to a scientist
Y`all motherdraters lying, and getting me pissed"

sorry had to toss that in there.

How about some Carl Sagan with your existential crisis?

"The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every `superstar,` every `supreme leader,` every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."

"There are 9 planets. Don`t let anyone tell you otherwise."

Weeeell if you want to count pluto as a planet then you have to count the other 4 dwarf planets in our solar system (one of which is actually larger than pluto) as planets too... bringing the total number of planets up to 13!!!
And we all know 13 is an unlucky number.. so lets just leave it at 8 ;)

"The Universe doesnt care if Man survives or is extinct."

Not only that but this whole planet and every species on it would be significantly better off if humans went extinct. Now please excuse me while I crawl back into bed and never get out of it again! -_-

(P.S. There are about 170 billion galaxies in the known universe, this chart needs updating.)

All I know for sure from direct observation is that I am at the center of all I see.

Rumors of anything before my existance are just that, Rumors. And I`ve seen no conclusive proof that any of you will continue to exist after I am gone.

Therefore, I am ENORMOUSLY significant. You aren`t.

So, because we are small, we are insignificant? Phuck that. From a scientific standpoint, the fact that we evolved to this point is just as fascinating as the universe, itself. The universe is a shell, and as organisms we conquered it by wearing it as our clothing. Everything about us is survival, and lets face it, the universe is a wasteland. We have the most valuable plot of land we know of, because life,(as we know it,) just seems to thrive on it. So, from where I stand I piss at the universe and say "Phuck your light shows, I`m too busy breathing to care."

I really don`t understand existential crises... maybe I`m too stupid to get them or too apathetic, but I`m perfectly contented living my life and causing whatever effects that I so happen to cause. Being so incredibly insignificant is, IMHO, astonishingly humbling in a really good way. It`s exciting.

But hey I`m just 19, what the f*ck do I know?
