You may very well die in a flaming house that day, but at least you won"t die from smoke inhalation...

Yes, quite.
OK, while that guy finds a siphon to put in his restroom, I`ve small oxygen tanks for $300 and sledge hammers for $20, in case you are cheap or would rather just bust your way out the house...

Where the hell am I supposeto get this tube? And I have the tube the why don`t I just breath from some other that does not taste like crap. Like a shower drain or sink drain.

Inhale and then exhale methane to not pass out and be blown up in a fire.

The reason that is sealed off is because it is acidic, to help break down whatever passes through there. Not a good idea.

"Hit me with the poo-bong."
That is the best thing I have ever read in my life.

I would rather just invest in a door.

that wouldnt work at all. theres a reason toilets have traps and thats because of all the fumes that would come out of there. not too mention the fact that if the house is on fire im pretty sure you would probably get burned alive

I think most people would eat feces if it would save them from imminent death. Breathing through a poo-pipe doesn`t seem like that much a stretch o me. Death seems to permanent to not give at least a try. Hit me with the poo-bong.

You could also breath through the shower drain, which while still very nasty, isn`t quite as nasty as poo.

I do not think so.

You`d die from the methane in the vent pipe. Not to mention the poo taste.

Well thats not going to help. 99% of all house fires begin through exploding toilets. Fact.

This isn`t going to save you, it will give you 5 minutes of time in a situation where there`s no other breathable air around.

It all connects to the main soil stack. You`re breathing in sewer water. Which I think is pretty much going to kill you if you`re breathing it exclusively.
There is a reason for there being water in the bottom of the toilet...

the tub and sink drains are still connected to the toilet drain, you`re going to be breathing in some of the most disgusting air you can imagine. And as for breaking out a window, the sudden burst of air can cause massive flare ups and in turn kill you.

yeah...i would probably break out a window first....that`s just stupid....

really? cause my bathtub drain is full of hair and barf from numerous nights when the toilet just wasnt close enough

using the pipe from the bathtub drain or sink is more effective and less deadly.

i don`t think anyone would actually do this during a fire

Seems like that should be a last resort...like if you`re stuck in the bathroom and there`s no windows in there...but...seriously...

First off, who`s going to have a tube like that sticking around somewhere...and unless, like I stated previously, you are trapped in a windowless bathroom, why would you sit there like a dumbass instead of finding a way out or at least trying to shout to people so they know where you are.

Interesting use of a toilet, needless to say, but seems pretty pointless in that situation...

Instead of sitting there trying to figure out how to breathe from a f*cking toilet, how about trying to get out?
You know, windows and doors and the like.

1: whats that?
2: oh my breathing tube incase of a fire, all i have to do is shove it in the toilet.

The reason the water in your toilet is like this is to prevent POISONOUS gasses from coming from the sewer into your house.

ok so now that you have air to breathe, now you just need to wait for the ceiling to collapse or the fire to burn you alive.

Male 305
Wouldn`t you be breathing a bunch of methane and other sewer gases?

that is some RANCID air you`re breathing.

You could use this to suck up a HUGE mouthful of water to put out the fire! Hey, a new marketing angle! Cha-ching!

Okay, now that I found the patent I actually read the basics of its intended function. The inventor wasn`t as daft as I previously thought. That said, I`m not surprised highrise hotels don`t have these in the rooms.

@Jarstar There`s a big difference between the diameter of a straw and the snorkel shown. Even with an in-line air filter, it wouldn`t be too difficult.

Female 282
O.o that would probably kill you....the water is in the bowl to prevent the harmful fumes from escaping into the room....I learned this in like, 7th grade... and by breathing in those fumes....eeek.

That little wiggle in the toilet (25) is to keep the noxious gases in the sewage system out of your bathroom. If you were to do this you would be inhaling mostly carbon dioxide, methane, hydrogen sulfide and other such poo gasses. I think death by smoke inhalation would be quicker and more dignifying.

OMG Fire, let me go get the long tube that will allow me to breath through the plumbing that I bought for just this instance!!!!!

People suggesting to use the tub or sink instead? You have no understanding of plumbing at all.

But this does seem like a weird idea, and the number labeling is a bit odd. I would like to see some context.

Yeah I don`t think breathing raw sewer gas is going to be better than inhaling smoke but why would you even do that when you could find something to maybe filter the smoke from the air your inhaling like covering your mouth with a shirt or something only um a little better cause a shirt wouldn`t be quite enough.

This looks like a patent drawing, meaning that you would just keep this device handy in your bathroom. I would still breathe through the vent or just breathe the smoke, though

you put your mouth against the drain of your tub. not your toilet. then you take a deep breath and try and get out.
0

Male 129
Excpet you would be inhaling toxic sewer fumes and die from that. There is a reason for the water and that curve to be there. Sinks have them too. Though you might get really high just before you do.
