Zolaki,

Yeah, you`re pretty much right on there. It`s hard to find the job you went to college for. On the other hand, they do exist. I happened to stumble across the one I have now, and wouldn`t trade it for anything. Keep looking, and good luck.

"Im actually going for a doctorate in engineering at Cambridge University."

If that`s the case, you`re far more likely to be doing the things in the first picture, like many other engineers.

Lol weell considering i work for shell oil as an engineers intern. I know exactly what they do. and to tell you that its the stereotypical "lets stare at a computer 8 hours a day and not move from my cubicle" would be an understatement.
And another thing.

a doctorate in engineering is basically useless. Its a very useless thing. Almost all of the engineers i know have told me that getting a doctorate in engineering isnt worth the paper its written on. ( haha stole that from someone elses comment, anyway) All im trying to say is that it isnt a big deal because that guy will be doing the exact same thing as the engineers with bachelors. sad to say.

I could genuinely enjoy having a career and doing tedious and repetative tasks for the rest of my life if it wasn`t for the fact I`ll probably be working with a large group of complete morons.

HA! You can fit at least FOUR of them sorry cubes in *MY* office, punks. 32" widescreen monitors, quad-core pentiums, racks of lab equipment, and a door I can close to keep out the useless humps and riffraff.

No [email protected] man! I`d kill to have my six years and $100K back considering the soul-sucking P.O.S. job I have thanks to my two bachelors degrees not being worth the paper they`re written on!!

And eff all you frakkers with your own cubicle!! Quit your bitchin`! I have to share a 30 year old desk with a rotting 85 year old wench!

Someone shoot me NOW!

Uggghh... Christ... How the hell can anyone work in a cubicle? I would be sucking on a shotgun barrel if I had to sit there all day.
Sure, my job sucks too, but occasionaly I get to thrash a 500 horse power, $100k car. Or blow stuff up with live air bags; got 3 sitting around right now :D

This is why you go to grad school. I`m assuming you mean "college" is up to a Bachelor`s degree, which is pretty worthless.

Also, consider something more valuable than English Literature or Philosophy. Sure, Business can also be a poor choice (especially at an undergrad level). Have you considered Engineering?

Hell, my first few jobs out of college were crappy. It takes time to work up to the corner office with a hot assistant where you get to work on cutting edge technology.

Quit bitching and be thankful you have a job

Most college grads i know are working regular 9 to 5-ers that have absolutely nothing to do with what degrees they receieved. A friend of mine has quite a few degrees in different important sounding subjects. You know where he`s working? Geico. As a claims adjuster. BUT...he`s worked his way up the ladder anyway and now makes great money anyway. Most grads simply dont have the money to continue their education and really get up there in the world ans get those top-dollar jobs they went to school to get. Some do suceed though. Nursing is extremely popular where I live...you can go to school for as short as 9 months or as long as 4 years and get a nursing license, and nurses will be forever needed in the job market. May not pay a doctor`s salary, but it`s better than 7.00 an hour at walmart.

I believe the world will eventually become too stupid and lazy to sustain itself within the 21 century. That combined with an energy crisis will have us all reverting back to horse drawn carriages and plowing our own land to grow our own food.
