"Precisely aseirinn; Nature says ok - so who are we to judge?"

Judging from animal behavior, nature says it`s okay to eat babies, commit genocide and rape. Does that necessarily mean we should condone those things too?

That`s not her. She actually had another child with the same man when she was fifteen.

Dunno if this has been mentioned before as I don`t want to read through every post but if this is the girl I think it is then her story is rather more tragic than it appears in this 4 year old article.

The girl in question has revealed her identity recently and it turns out that she was raped repeatedly by her brother since she was about 8 and he was the one who got her pregnant. Her mother refuses to believe this. She gave her child up for adoption on the understanding that she would get to see it but turns out that she is only entitled to 2 letters updating her a year and nothing more - she is now going to fight for custody.

Also

"she lost her virginity aged 11 and concieved first time?"

It is possible. Out of all the young girls losing their virginity, there`s enough of them that statisticaly someone is going to get knocked up on the first try. Theirs been cases of 5 year old kids pregnant. Google Lina Medina. Some kids naturally (though it is not that common) start releasing eggs/the menstrual cycle very early, and they can get knocked up as a result.

I love how they rag on about how she "Can not be identified" then add in random snippets like "The girl, who has shoulder-length dark hair..." which then goes on to explain something unrelated about the hair statement, smoking habits. It`s just thrown in there for no reason but some kind of identification, even if vague. Irony?

She smokes and drinks and fights, is 11 and pregnant? She should not be having sex that young. And although I don`t want to say `contraception is the answer to this issue/could have prevented it` (because contraception is a great and very effective thing with older teens like myself, mature enough to have sex, but not wanting children. It`s not an answer for young kids like this.) Because really, this kid is too young IMHO.

Also, who is supplying her with cigs, booze and all that? Charges please, there only contributing to the problem. Her proud mother? IDK.

Okay, so, the date of the article, the cigarettes, drinking and sex aside, I wanna point something out. We all think this is bad, sure, but it isn`t common. In Edinburgh, there are 477,660 residents. 16.3% are under the age of 16. So, if you do some quick math, you`ll come to find that there are roughly 77,858 teenagers in Edinburgh. We know that one of those 77,858 is one 11-year-old girl who is also a mom. The chances of picking her blindly out of the teenage, Edinburgh crowd is about .000001% I`d say that this occurrence is PRETTY uncommon, especially if you factor in the "mothers who allow their children to smoke and such" crowd.
So, sure, this is a pretty drating bad situation for the parties involved, but this sort of thing was bound to happen eventually. And I`d definitely say that worse things are happening in other places in both the UK and the world.
Also, the girl, indirectly, admitted consent to the sex, so why is the poor boy getting charged with rape?

Wow. I think it is good she did not kill the child, of course, but awful that she isn`t giving it up for adoption at birth. I wouldn`t even trust her to watch my children for an hour, if I had any, let alone raise one. I know a young woman who is mentally retarded and has an infant son, and it`s a similar situation- there`s no way on God`s green earth either can raise the kid on her own and be a proper parent. They don`t have the right tools, and there are plenty of loving, capable families out there who do.

This is what happens when uptight christian dumbass parents refuse to tell their kids about the reality of the world, and so they are forced to find out for themselves.

It`s the same philosophy of keeping your child in a disease free bubble for their entire childhood. They will not form an immune system. So the second they walk out of the bubble their immune system is not able to cope with everything getting thrown at it.

Teach your kids about the reality of the world. By pretending it isn`t there only hurts your kids.

Aha! I wondered where my tax money was going :D good to see people that need it are getting it and not, you know, people that do really stupid stuff like get pregnant JUST AFTER THEY LEAVE PRIMARY SCHOOL. Seriously, is there not another way? How is she going to contribute to society at all? Someone should "accidentily" elbow drop her in the stomach or something. Harsh, but we are looking at 2 skivvys, 3 if you count the mother that are going to do fook all for their lives except live off benefits and -WE- are the people that pay for their lifestyle? I think that after 3 months on benefits you should start doing odd jobs for the council for 20 hours a week so at least you are saving some money somewhere along the line.

Even if I had wanted to (which I didn`t) I would certainly have known it wasn`t right. I`m sure when the little baby is 9 it`ll be smoking too. Franky boyle was right when commenting on statuary further education ; "This thing about forcing teenagers to stay in education until they`re 18 is ridiculous! I mean, who`s going to pick up their kids from nursery?"

Also, she "could give up smoking any time, but doesn`t feel that its harming her pregnancy"?

Bloody brilliant. Another little bastard for my taxes to pay for. Honestly, everyone should be sterilized until they`ve got a decent job to afford to look after a child, and the maturity to go with it. Thanks for ruining my day again, Daily Mail :(

Just throwing this out there.

I don`t think it`s fair to judge the girl for the same reason you`re complaining.

She`s 11, she is not old enough to be fully responsible for her actions.

For this reason, she is too young to have a child.
It is also for this reason however, that you can`t really judge her.

Unless of course she`s "old enough" in which case she`s "old enough" and there`s no problem.

Either she`s not responsible, or she is, you can`t argue both where it`s convenient.
