I love documentaries but rarely do I find ones that ask the questions I want to see answered, especially concerning topics I find the most intriguing. Theroux covers interesting subjects and asks the interviewees what I wanna hear. Even if he doesn`t get a straight answer, we get a response.

Never heard of this guy but after watching 5 or 6 of these clips I gotta say I`m impressed. BUT... to call someone "the king of Gonzo journalism" who`s not Hunter S. Thompson seems strange to me. It`s like calling a tiger "the king of the jungle."

I would like to see some Louis Theroux on DVD though, just to catch a whole documentary or two. Anybody know if they exist?

    He is brilliant.

any progressive minded americans who want a great journey in to how the rest of the world (sometimes wrongly) veiws america... look no further than this guy.

he is cool, collected, often funny, but always engaging and incisive. really really worth a watch.

I used to watch his stuff all the type. Though now I hope he moves on to more hard-hitting stuff. He`s a brilliant journalist.

Theroux is not much better than Michale Moore, Sometimes worse.
Nah, they`re different fish. Moore (openly admitted from a staunch liberal here) has a clear political agenda from the outset. Theroux does his particular brand of investigative journalism into what most of us perceive as the weirdest, kookiest fringes of society and tries to give an insight as to what makes those people tick. I don`t think you can really compare the two...

I love Louis Theroux- he is always polite to his subjects, lets them be what they are, and allows the viewer to decide. It shows how even odd people are fairly normal, and the truly vile can also be nice- no two dimensional cut outs.

theroux is awsome!!! he showspeople both sides of the arguement, is impartial so lets the public decide and helps some of the close minded people he interviews to see the wrong in there arguement, without provoking an agresive response :)

Hunter S. Thompson certainly was known up here. I think it`s more of an age thing then a location thing.

davymid: The two are comparable because of their `creative` editing. Moore`s is more egregious and slanted, But Theroux still leaves a lot of relevant footage on the cutting room floor as Moore does.

vv Well, fair enough point Crakr, I`ll concede you that one. I guess I was saying that they have very different motives, but I suppose their techniques have similarities.
