Submitted by: fancylad 7 years ago in

Welp, it was only a matter of time before someone made the connection between Obama and the BP oil spill. We knew it!

Like when does anyone ever blame you for anything? Seriously. We`re the ones that get blamed for every tidal wave and third-world miscarriage, not you. Matter of fact, you pretty much have to make the biggest goddamned oil spill in history before anyone points a finger your way.

@tangello
Why is this directed at me?

I referred to "President Obama" and I think that clearly implies it is his last name. Or did people talk about President George or President Bill when I wasn`t listening? I`m pretty sure they were usually called President Bush and President Clinton.

BP was one of BO`s biggest donors. They also support of Cap & Trade and Copenhagen. All this cussing & threatening in public is just theatrics.

@Ogen. Fascism is a style of government in which gov`t owns & controls corporations but the corps are operated by private interests. Some examples: General Motors, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, Wall Street firms who signed TARP. If Maxine Waters gets her way, we`ll add oil companies like BP and Obama can then fire their management like he did GM`s.

@ quotes around Obama. He was allegedly adopted by his Indonesian step-father and given the name Soetero (sp?). Some who believe he is not a natural born citizen of the U.S. claim that he remains a citizen of Indonesia on that basis. They also claim he applied for foreign aid at college, but that`s hard to check since his college records are sealed and any inquiry into them is a federal offense.

@People I never said I agreed with Ron Paul, I said I respect him. He is the type of political adversary that I would enjoy debating, and could generously lose to. He is the man that should represent the Republican party, because he actually believes in the ideals it was founded upon. I don`t think the Government has ever grown bigger than it has under George W. Bush. That`s because George W. Never had ideals. He had ambitions. There is a difference. When you are young everyone tells you that being president is powerful, and the top job you could achieve in your lifetime, the thing to shoot for. What they don`t say is that being president is a responsibility to America. It isn`t just a job, its a sacrifice to be president.

@Ogden thx, you know I kind of like Ron Paul too. Don`t necessarily agree with him all the time, but enough to where I would have voted for him over Obama.

I`m not too sure about his son, though, the stances he takes seems a little too over the top. I don`t see the bad in keeping the civil rights act. It`s not denying anyone the way that affirmative action was. I can understand the affirmative action repeal, you have a limited number of seats in a system that claims entry to be merit based. Race shouldn`t factor into an equation like that.

You can discriminate based on height, weight, baldness, attractiveness, and if you really didn`t want a black man working for you, there`s enough discretion and leeway that YOU could never hire one and no one would complain.

That law is there to protect workers from hostile environments. You may not want a black man, but another manager might not have a problem with it. The worker still deserves respect as a hum

Ron Paul is maybe the only true Republican left. Although I don`t agree with most of his ideas, at the least he really BELIEVES in them. He isn`t just out for political power. He really thinks about what he believes and I can respect that even though I disagree with him about 80% of the time.

The sad truth is that in many ways I had respect and admiration for the pre-1980s republicans. They actually believed in smaller government, some deregulation where it stifled business and raised the cost of entry, and states rights.

However, post 1980 republicans have only ever tried to be smaller government under Clinton. They ignored their own balanced budget amendment, they made more rules to regulate people and got rid of the good regulation that was in place to make sure dangerous or risky operations proceeded safely along with the bad.

The new republican/teabagger movement has really just excised their moderate base. Multiple multi-trillion dollar wars, stepping on bill of rights freedoms with the patriot act, destroying overseas relationships, never finding the evil man with a funny beard, no one complained, but HEALTHCARE makes you bat poo crazy? Really?

I miss the republicans that used to fight for more freedoms, not less, and not just for bus

"Oops. 40%.

Sorry. ;)"

This is why I hate the tea bagger party. It`s PURE fascism at its finest. You spout off these numbers like they are golden fact and just expect people to believe it. When someone in the Tea Party says something that belongs in this group of political propaganda, the members just spread it along without checking facts.

30% is a BIG difference, the difference between being a majority or a minority. And I would bet that about half that 40% was against the health care plan because they thought it was Socialism because someone on Fox news said so, or the death panels because Sarah Palin said so.

The Tea Party is the monster that grew out of George W like a cancer, the party of fear and believing whatever he said. It makes me sick.

"Also, we do NOT have representation. over 70% of Americans OPPOSED the health care legislation, but they pushed it through anyway.

We`ve gone over this before. The way America works is, we have elections, candidates tell us what they are going to do, the voters vote, then the representatives and senators go to work. Democrats are in charge, they did what they were elected to do. Just because your side convinced ignorant people that the legislation would lead to "death panels" doesn`t mean the populace knew what the bill would actually do.

70% is not an accurate number, and no surprise that half the country doesn`t like what Democrats do, because half of them vote Republican!

THE PAST IS PAST THE FUTURE IS NOW!!! Enjoy your mandatory healthcare - what a burden!

What AJ conveniently leaves out is that a significant number of people opposed the final health care bill not because they were opposed to government run health care, but because they thought the bill was too weak and didn`t provide enough care.

Gasp! Obama became President on Jan 20th 2009! 1/20/09! And the deepwater horizon well blew out on April 20th, 2010! 4/20/10! And 1+20+9=30, while 4+20+10=34, which is clearly a reference to Mark 30-34 where Jesus fed the 5000 with a couple of baps and an anchovy! It`s clearly a warning from God of the END TIMES! WE CAN CANNOT CONTINUE TO TRY TO REPLICATE THE MIRACLES OF JESUS TO FEED OUR OWN GREED AS A SOCIETY! GOD HAS SENT THIS TO PUNISH US! BRING THE RAPTURE!

@auburnjunky: that`s exactly how representation works. You pick someone to represent you. They vote then however they want. If you don`t like how they vote, you replace them in the next election. This is the distinction between representative democracies and direct democracies. In any event I never saw any number higher than 60% opposed, and recently I`ve seen more in favor than opposed. And, just like in Canada, once the program actually starts, it will certainly move towards general approval.
