No News Is Good News? [Pics]

Either they all use the same newspaper, or all these shows take place on the same exact day…or the prop master is lazy.

More interesting than the prop paper is that someone actually watches network television.

My theory is that whoever posted this has a contact inside that told him what movies he printed newspaper for, noone is that stupid to go around recording shows, watching for newspapers

Really whoever noticed it first probably just noticed it on like two shows, and checked from then on.

I highly doubt they spend their days just watching every show ever trying to find such things.

Mesonoxian -

No problem. The only thing about the the Wilhelm is that once you`ve heard it, you can`t unhear it. From that moment on, whenever you hear it during a movie, no matter how bad or graphic the scene is, you end up laughing.

So, how long have they been using the same prop newspaper for then? And why?

The simplest answer is usually the correct one. You can`t use a real newspaper in your show/movie for copyright reasons. Ergo, you print one of your own. BUT to print a single copy will run you thousands of dollars, and any printer will tell you that you can have 500 for the same cost as 1, because of the high setup costs. So whomever first needed one, probably got a thousand or so printed, and distributed them around the studio prop departments.

@SamVines- thanks for the info. Pretty interesting, I also learned about the Wilhelm Scream, which evidently was used in over 250 movies.

Those little blue coffee cups are in everything because they give them out at every coffee shop you go to in NYC, hahaha.

Prop masters also PURCHASE materials. It`s a lot easier to just purchase materials from a single company that make such things then to come up with them yourself, find a printer, and have them print off one or two pieces then just find a company that offers them. It`s the same reason you see the same, really old, coffee cups in hundreds of tv shows and movies... They`re little blue, things: http://tinyurl.com/y9l9pem Start looking for those and you`ll seem them in EVERYTHING.

Once upon a time a prop master put her own photo in a newspaper since she didnt get much credit. Studios print this "newspaper" in large quantities for their shows, so you will see it often. And the propmaster got the last laugh.

Christ, no it`s not fake. I saw this the other day. The reason they do it is because using a real paper could potentially lead to copyright issues. The chances of a newspaper suing them for it is minuscule but they go the "better sad than sorry" route.

Either seems like someone has absolutely no life to watch all these shows and see this... or absolutely no life to photoshop it.. considering some of the papers being held have this female on different sides of the paper and such bc of how the people are holding them.......

with all the money they spend to make the show or movie or whatever, you`d think they can afford to spend $2 on a real newspaper

I`m tending to agree with xxPinkxx and moefreak on this one.

it probably is a fake newspaper so that any REAL news is kept out of tv shows for whatever reason.
