Who let oil companies do offshore drilling if they DIDN`T have a plan for EVERY type of emergency? Did the companies just say: "Oh, don`t worry about it, it`ll never happen." and the government said, "Oh, well they know what they`re talking about, so we`ll set the standards to how they want it." Pouring dirt on it did absolutely nothing. This should`ve been thought about by the EPA or the companies themself.

I mean, come on. From the looks of it, this is really really bad. There`s nothing to do...huh?

The reason they can see it is because the oil ISN`T diluted in the water so there is no way it could have come from rain. You can`t evaporate crude oil in the gulf of mexico anyway...

Oil doesn`t have to drating evaporate to get into the water system. You`re all retarded.

Water particulates are large enough to carry oil. especially with the dispersant, it will cause the oil to break up, and allow it to be picked up by evaporation.. if you don`t believe us, then do your own home experiment.. put 1 teaspoon of oil in a jar of water, then cap it with a small zip lock bag, and rubber band, and let it sit in the sun for a day.. what do you see all over the plastic bag? water particulates and oil with it. Hard for you to believe that several molecules of oil will not infect the billions in that of a rain drop?

Not only by this method but it attaches to dust particles to get into the atmosphere in the first place. Something that *OMG* never turns into a real vapor!

vv Yeah, what VirtualParty said. It could conceivably get into the atmospheric system, especially when dispersants are introduced. And the light fraction of oil DOES evaporate, very easily in fact. I`ve worked in the oil industry all my life, and if you`re taking an oil sample from a well for later geochemical analysis you need to seal it in a glass jar immediately - otherwise the light-end hydrocarbons (C2, C3, C4) will evaporate and the geochemical fingerprint you end up with back in the lab is not representative of the "pristine" oil in the reservoir.

Having said that, you don`t even need evaporation - there have been recorded cases of it raining frogs for f*ck sake, picked up by waterspouts.

And yeah, likewise not saying that this particular vid isn`t faked. As I said earlier, I could exactly reproduce this video with a can of diesel and my cellphone camera, in about 5 minutes.

I`ll remember that when BP does something wrong.

They are the only ones lifting a finger to clean this poo up.

Obama is suing folks, and playing golf. The federal government is telling people what they can, and can`t do to clean up for themselves. (Norway offered to loan us 1,000 oil skimming ships, and Washington declined. Why?!)

Honestly, That looks like freshly paved asphalt or possibly freshly oiled macadam. Either one can be the cause of the oily looking `rainbow` in the water. I`ve seen it happen before, Several times.

Capture some of that rain on a clean jar or rain gauge (so that it`s not contaminated by the ground/pavement) and get it analyzed. If that analysis shows oil, Then I`ll believe it.

Yes, You heard it right, A Christian is asking for scientific proof :gasp: :awe:

You might want to also remember that BP and Obama were good friends. BP`s largest political contribution in 2008 was for Obama, BP signed onto Obama`s `Green Energy` projects.

Steven Chu, Obama`s Energy Secretary, Even said `Partnering with BP... Would save the world" in 2007.

Guess which company Chu’s top deputy at the energy department used to work for. Steve Koonin was a chief scientist at BP.

weebazweebaz: America has not `murdered for oil` or invaded another country for oil. That`s hogwash you`ve been fed, Afghanistan has no oil and Iraqi oil has not been sold to the United States, Iraqi oil has too high a sulfur content. American refineries require `light crude` with a low sulfur content.

Having lived near 3 refineries most of my life, I know this to be fact.

seriously this is why people from different countries don`t get on

blatant and open prejudice without a researched answer nor using logic to determine that 1 persons intellectual prowess doesn`t account for the whole nation`s intellectual prowess

IMO the idea of a nation should be scrapped! suck on that every one of you who`s a "patriot" to an IDEA

Hmm, If the water can carry oil from the sea, into the clouds, over the land and then rain it back down then why isn`t the rain salty too?

Answer, because this is fake. This is just not how the water cycle works. If you evaporate water it doesn`t carry impurities. Hydrogen bonds are just not strong enough to hold anything when a single water molecule is involved.

Agreed, are people fricken idiots? Yes.

Oil is not like water where it just evaporates, condenses as clouds, forms droplets, and falls.

This is CLEARLY just video of rain WASHING AWAY OIL ON THE GROUND.

Why didn`t anyone just think of that??????????????????

McGovern, Acid rain is due to sulphur dioxide mixing with the condensed water droplets in the atmosphere making a weak sulphuric acid solution. It`s a totally different process.

This stuff about hurricanes seems bizarre too. If hurricanes can `whip up` water from the ocean`s surface and rain it onto the land why don`t we get salty rain after hurricanes?

No I didn`t say a huricane will make oil rain I said it will spread the oil out more and push it farther up land. As for acid rain if water is in the sky it can`t be too condensed hence evaporated and capable of having impurities like sulfur dioxide.

Guys, acid rain is caused from particles that are already in the air clinging to the pure water that is falling as rain. It isn`t in the water before it evaporates.

This is simply water cleaning oil off a road.

This is the typical ignorant stuff from Europeans I`m talking about. You need to study why the Conservation Corps by FDR was created. Due to the neglect of the Dust Bowls of the 1930`s Midwest. It`s due in large part of the winds carrying it up into the air stream and carrying it and dumping it as muddy rain on Washington DC. That is how it got passed.

handy, how is dust the same as oil? Dust storms are common around the world, dust consists of fine particles of light materials. Crude oil, by nature is sticky and does not readily form small particles. The wind is not going to magically suck the oil off the surface of the ocean. A good way to test this would be by seeing if a conventional vacuum cleaner is any good at sucking up oil.

Also, the only ignorance here is someone being insulting just because they hold a different opinion. Try to temper your responses in future. All that bad science must be making you angry.

I would rephrase that but what different would it make were i to chuck euphemismic equivalents for "you`re an unfounded, groundless moron" at you?

The rest of you dudes that might want to blame me for making a whole group look bad, I`d just like to inform you that your internet opninion counts for sh*t, just like mine does. The fact that I have a picture of a little boy apparently convinces some that I am still that same little boy, and that might mean two things. You`re either afraid a little boy blames someone for throwing prejudices at a small quantity of maybe not so scienitifcally grounded Europeans. Or you`re generally convinced I`m still a little boy. Either way, I don`t really give a single flying crap about what your words represent.

Handy, if you would have any common sense, you`d check out my profile to begin with. It says: born the second of June 1992. I-A-B does not change the age portion when you age automatically. Analogously, I had to change that myself. You can count, right? It`s been a while since I last visited, hence the late change. Thank you for your very insulting remarks about my age. It reminded me to change it. Not that it matters. Obviously, your pompous nature does seem to prevent you from not being a person diverging from the one you are. I`m going with the euphemisms now, see?

Second, I reacted to the whole "I thought Europeans had a good education", which in a whole is ridiculous to state as Europe is not a country where there is a universal educational system. I reacted to that, regardless who posted it. Second, I reacted to you because obviously, whether you directed your attack towards me alone or to a collective of individuals, I found your remark incredibly lame. Think

1, The company is called BP PLC, maybe you would`ve had a chance at spelling that rather than the pre 1999 name. After it merged with Amoco (american) they dropped the British bit.

    2, It wasn`t a refinery

3, You pretty much do own BP and you definitely owned the drilling company who screwed this up.

poo like this has been happening for years. The yanks up north never noticed because hey.. for the companies out there drilling its easier for them to pay the fines of the pooload of regulations they break than to actually fix the poo.Something like this was bound to happen anyway. Its not just BP its every god damn drill out here on our bays. What gets me is the smart asses who keep spouting all this poo like they know how to fix it and that BP is all to blame, and we`re just rednecks who are overreacting about it all. A lot of people out here have lost their livelihood. A lot of us don`t know if other places around here are going to close out too. Florida fought for years to keep drilling off their bays and look whats gona happen now!I`ve been out there cleaning up tar balls and trying to keep my minimum wage job that depends heavily on the tourism here. Instead of people sitting and arguing about it, I`d like to see their asses out there actually doing something. Talk is cheap.

BTW the video is retarded, it could come from any redneck neighborhood where people don`t know how to fix their cars and spill car oil everywhere. Also, you get the same poo when you live near a farm crop that uses pesticides often.
The only way the oil would get farther inland is if we had a bad hurricane on the shore. Thats about it. The guy videotaping probably didn`t think about that.
