Submitted by: fancylad 6 years ago

Ohh, so pretty. And why am I all of a sudden hungry for sourdough bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar?

I made an account just to reply to your post. Even if you don`t drive, this incident, does infact, still effect you. It is causing much more destruction to the environment than the price of gas. It has the potential to effect everyone before it`s over.

GO BP! It`s all a British ploy to make America spend their billions on cleaning up rather than a defence budget, and when you`re weak WE`LL INVADE.

question: does anyone else think BP and the company that was drilling should have to compensate all the people who`s lives have been seriouly disrupted by this? i was watching a vid earlier about different seafood factories closing down. i say we drag the bastards out in the street and make them pay.

i think they did do that..i remeber someone making fun off them for shaving sheep and alpaca for thier fur. i forsee a ginatr centrifuge set up on the coast to seperate water from oil. if that magicaly worked the way im drawing it in my head, it would have to be runing constantly for a long time, but at least its something.

i do wonder, realisticly, how long it can gish before running out..oil doesnt go on forever, it will go belly up at some point

I did see a show where this guy got heaps hair from different hair salons, stuffed them into stockings and floated it in oily water and the hair absorbed most of the oil and left the water behind. It seemed like a fantastic idea I wonder why they haven`t tried it...

"if you knew FOR SURE the end result of this oil spill/catastrophe was the TOTAL end of the world`s dependence on oil AND wars over it, would the environmental damage it created be worth it?"

No. Why does humanity have to be SO retarded that it takes something so catastrophic to force us to wake up to ourselves?

Bah, cut off...

...so you have >10MT of oily magic hay (that doesn`t actually exist, remember) floating around...how do you clean that up? It won`t stay neatly together, of course.

Oh, and the oil would still be pouring out underwater.
What about doing SOMETHING other than pissing on everyone and telling us it`s raining?
Do you really think BP is doing nothing?

Even if you assume BP is run by a bunch of psychos who don`t give a damn, it still doesn`t make sense. It`s costing BP a staggering fortune and the amount grows every second they don`t fix it, so it still wouldn`t make sense for them to do nothing.

If you have any ideas (note: ideas that might actually work), send them to BP. There`s even a phone number for that, on their website.

Regarding hay:

i) Hay absorbs water. So you`d end up absorbing mostly water.

ii) Even if you had magic hay that didn`t absorb water (which doesn`t exist), you`d need over 10 million tonnes of hay. Which you`d need to get there. The weight wouldn`t be as much of an issue as the volume.

iii) Even if you got your imaginary magic hay there and it worked, you`d end up with >10MT of hay floating a

ok, ethical and hypothetical question for iab:

if you knew FOR SURE the end result of this oil spill/catastrophe was the TOTAL end of the world`s dependence on oil AND wars over it, would the environmental damage it created be worth it?

"And what good will that do, huh?"

well, it`d likely bankrupt the companies if everybody did it, and then while all of that was going on with the bankruptcy.... more oil would spill out into the ocean

What ever happened to those mushrooms that soaked up oil? What about the hay-idea from those blue-collar folks? What about doing SOMETHING other than pissing on everyone and telling us it`s raining? I forget where I saw it, but seriously, you`re not angry enough at BP/oil industries unless you stop driving your car

Boycott the people who have used up most of the oil that isn`t a mile underwater and still demand cheap oil!

They`re the root cause of this mess.

We`ll see more of this, and worse, as oil becomes increasingly difficult to extract.

SmilinSam: Most BP gas stations are independently owned and operated, Boycotting them is missing the target completely.
