I read it @bigshorty :)
And yes I`m thinking this is a real picture, but has nothing to do with BP or the current oil leak.
And I thought this was "no big deal" too, about 4-5 days into it. NOW I`m thinking.... oops! Getting bigger! Lolz! But as I said before, there was worse in the Gulf and all life didn`t cease to exist, eh?

ha ha, top trolling fatpill. I`m not sure that when god wrote the bible he would have been so focused on the US. If one third of the life in the oceans has to be killed, this spill needs to continue for another 4000 years. Still, maybe you`ve been sent to interpret gods word for us.

Did nobody read my comment on the page before about why there were all the dead fish? Davymid wasn`t the first to comment on it.

Fattpill, you`ve got to be kidding right? That book has been translated so many times, how anybody can claim it`s words as true makes me laugh.

you know the BIBLE predicted 4000 years ago that around this time the waters would be turned to blood and that a third of all life in it would be killed. ohh and it pretty specific about the time frame too. remember God loves you and he wants to help you. you just have to recieve it just like you would a gift. confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and Gods Love will become so clear to you

Dammit, did I just find myself agreeing with Auburn? Only kidding, love ya bro, I enjoy the posts, even though we`re usually at each others` throats.

In other news, I previously stated this was no big deal. Turns out it is (and this is coming from me who works in the oil industry). I`ll be the first to admit I was wrong.

Agree with Davy. There is not of trace of oil in the picture. Doubt it`s related to the oil spill. Massive fish kills happen all over. This is probably from some other random one.

Those are dead fish. I live on the coast and the yacht club down the road looked just like this not too long ago. But it`s not from the oil, but rather from a oxygen depletion in the water. My friend has a picture on his phone that looks just like this.

Why do you surmise that I work for BP when I say BP is at major fault?

Actually, is BP at fault, or is the US Government at fault for giving the same rig that blew up a safety commendation just a few months before the accident?

Yet you`ve made false claim after false claim. Do you work for BP?

"this entire oil event will never kill as many birds as ONE wind farm will during the same period. "

BS.

"No it doesn`t. The oil they get on them when they surface washes off when they dive. They don`t breathe it. "

The oil danger for mammals is not a breathing issue. The oil does not wash off when they dive. Oil has to be removed from feathers and fur with detergents. The oil gums up their fur, reducing or completely destroying its insulating properties. The animals lose the ability to maintain a healthy body tempertaure and die. They also risk ingesting toxins if they try to lick their fur clean. Oil has to be removed from feathers and fur with detergents.

"The slick is a very fine, light crude slick. That lets through much of the sunlight."

No, there is no underwater refinery between the ground and the leak. Further, the light reducing effect is more than sufficient to kill the algae, as well as the oi

"Also, the oil spill isn`t killing fish. Oil floats on the top, fish are not on the top."

Guess you haven`t heard about the oil plumes deep under water. Guess you haven`t heard how the breakdown of the oil by naturally occuring bacteria uses up the dissolved oxygen in the water, creating dead zones where fish and plankton cannot breathe.

Guess you haven`t heard how oil contamination in the gills of fish cause them to suffocate, and I guess you didn`t know that in the open ocean, much of the life is at the surface, particularly the microscopic life that forms the foundation of the ocean food chain.

The microscopic plants and animals that aren`t killed by oil, absorb toxins, which accumulate up the food chain, eventually reaching toxic levels in top end predators.

Oil spills are deadly.

"The oil does kill birds,"

Yes it does, but this entire oil event will never kill as many birds as ONE wind farm will during the same period.

"mammals that need to come to the surface to breathe,"

No it doesn`t. The oil they get on them when they surface washes off when they dive. They don`t breathe it.

"and also affects the plant life and algae that need sunlight to grow."

I`ll give you that one, but not on the level you`re thinking. The slick is a very fine, light crude slick. That lets through much of the sunlight.

"There go the everglades."

When did it hit southern Florida again? Last I checked it was almost 1000 miles away from the everglades.

Bp just had £12Bn wiped off their value yesterday, they`re now worth £90Bn, and theres even talk of them going under, which i doubt would happen- they will pay in more ways than one for this; that goes without saying. Lets be realistic about this though- drilling for oil is never 100% safe. Maybe this might make us think twice about how much we consume eh?
