Everyone has their own problems to deal with. Just because we don`t have illness, lack of money, or are illiterate doesn`t mean we don`t have our own things that make us miserable.

Bleh I hate these things. Just make me feel bad for not REALLY caring. And by that I mean, I feel sad that people don`t have enough food etc, but when I think about it, am I really gonna do something about it? I`ll probably forget about it when I click another link...shame on me.

It`s too bad that these are highly unpersuasive statistics, because there are better statistics that give the same impression. ~10 million children die each year of easily preventable causes, for instance.

8% of the last recording of people (6,697,254,041) is 535,780,323 people that currently are as wealthy as said in the infograph. With an aprox. rate of poverty in NATO countries being at 10%-14% (Avg. 12%) and with a grand total of about 650,000,000 - 12%(78,000,000)
Gives you... 572,000,000. Which definately above that 8% of world population. Granted, there are errors in this, and there are more people without money in their bank account/pocket/wallet/whatever BUT there are also more than just NATO countries, and I didn`t add every NATO country, just several main ones.

When you publish a legitimate research paper, you don`t say: "Prove me wrong or it is right." NO, you have to prove that what you published was right and can substantiate any claims. That should be the case here.

If you are even alive to experience life as a human at all, you are one of the luckiest 6 billion lifeforms in the world and should stop f*cking complaining about being less fortunate than others.

Hey i know that others are having a much worse time than me but theres also people having a much better time than both of us as well. and before you assume anything its not like my life is without its fair share of problems and complications.

    tl;dr this poster proves nothing.

Yes it does. You can go live in poverty in the slums of some backwater nation then if it really means nothing.

Really, go do it. It sucks more then anything you can imagine. Then you realise that your one lucky SOB.

@Salted Eggs, That will never change. In order for that to change people have to take command of their own lives, and do every thing possible to move out of their poverty. If you live in a pooty ass country that has no food and no government assistance programs, or alot of disease and famine, then it is up to you to get out of it.

Not EVERYONE else, but luckier than a lot of people.
Being beaten by your dad sucks, but not living in a warzone where your life is in constant danger is pretty lucky.
Having to prostitute yourself for college tuition sucks, but the fact that college is even an option instead of prostituting just to survive is pretty lucky.

You typed that without having to fear for your life. You had access to uncensored internet, the money to buy a PC, electricity to run it, the education to operate it etc.

generally things like this make people with depression feel worse, because it just makes them feel bad for FEELING BAD, even though it isn`t their fault they feel bad in the first place because it`s a chemical imbalance.. it`s not like people are unhappy because they choose to be, and when you tell them they`re being an ungrateful little pooe for it, it just makes it worse.

Maslow`s Heirarchy of Needs ensures that no one will ever be happy. Once one need is met, another arises.

Try living with the crushing pressure of making something of yourself before your aging parents die disappointed that their golden child never made anything of himself.

That almost felt good getting that out there.

I dunno about it. 3 billion people illiterate? That`s 1/2 assuming 6 billion people on the planet. And even in places like sub-saharan Africa literacy rates are ~30% and they don`t nearly have as many people as India (66%) and China (93%). Still there`s alot of illiterate people, but they probably counted young children as illiterate (not `adult` literacy rates).
Yes I bothered to look these up on the WHO website. Yes I am a nerd.

In any case, the point is appreciate what you have. So let`s all do that.
