My only concern is if she missteps and sticks one of those into the sand... can you say face plant. >.<

@Biship "Aimee Mullins...Again. Expect links to The Cremaster Cycle soon, she gets dressed up as a leopard." Nah, let`s get the links to her 2 TED talks. Much better perspective of her. If people think she spends less on shoes they are sorely mistaken. She has several pair of custom legs, most for cosmetic purposes or to change her hight by almost a foot.

<---agrees with pui. When we say good job for everything we do they start to think they don`t need to work and should just get by on their own talents by not studying. I have suffered from this first hand.

@NitroJunkie hmm I somewhat agree. However, I think *achievement* should always be rewarded, but only if they`ve actually achieved something. I think it`s important to show children when they actually have achieved something extraordinary, and the way to do that is to not play up every single thing they do as fantastic, so that they recognize when they`ve actually done something great. So yes, praise in moderation.

She`s hell hot. I`m jealous of her boy/girl-friend...and of her actually. She`s earned her physic.

It`s hard to run in sand. I`d think that must be quite difficult.

Panzer- No, it should not. If you reward someone for every bullsh*t thing they achieve, they come to expect it and then only do stuff for the payout. That`s when you get f-up, brat kids that think they`re worth more than they are, and they won`t do something good and kind just for the sake of doing it- say, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or an animal shelter or just pick up garbage.
That mentality winds up raising a generation of sissies.

@aseirinn yes europe does have cheetos... and you dont get fat from eating them you get fat from eating them and other junk excessively.
of course she should be commended for running so should all athletes - they work hard to be good at what they do

aseirinn, How`s them cheeto`s working for ya? Have you overcome something as challanging as she has that gives you a right to dis her?

you probably pat people on the head that you think are inferiors and tell them what a `great job` theyre doing even if theyre not...
instead of telling them the constructive truth...

and thanks, but we havent got `cheetos` in this neck of the woods, also i dont eat corn drivitives...lest i get `big boned` as you would probably put it...instead of `Fat`...

i wasnt disrespecting her...if you read my comment properly you`d see i was merely pointing out that she probably feels no different to most other athletes...and the notion that she should be commended for running is ridiculous...theres thousands of people without legs, not all are athletes some are lazy some are not...but all are normal human beings with human failures and achievements...stephen hawking is a scientist, renound maybe but a scientist nonetheless...

Nope, you have to have a Springthingy attached so you can play the ukulele in 16/4 tempo.

You know, it`s always the athletes who are in REALLY good shape who go out climbing mountains or something that are more likely to loose their legs, so it`s no surprise that they bounce back and continue to be great athletes.

"Cheetah legs? Its weird I always imagine those bounce. Boing!"

Issa, actually, That`s the whole point. A cheetah gets his speed by the springiness of his legs and how he runs. Long and slender, they`re built for long loping strides, that almost seem to bounce.

Running on sand is hard when you can tilt your feet, wonder if it is any harder on those. Maybe makes up for them being so much faster.
