Okay so people still believe it`s something other than fake. How many people get wrapped up in Lost, 24, Prison Break and talk about the characters as though they`re anything but contrived by a writer?

Primary point: It doesn`t matter if it`s fake or not, the fact that there are those who drone on and on and on about it might as well turn off their TVs if they`re so worried about the "reality" of what`s on.

So nice that Chikara Pro is getting noticed. Probably the more entertaining form of pro wrestling out there. It`s good stuff.

"Definitely not Pro. There`s like 7 seats and 5 of them are empty."

"after carefully reviewing this gif, and watching it 9 times, i have come to the positive conclusion that this is NOT "pro" wrestling."

The bloke in yellow is Claudio Castagnoli, very much the pro and even for small events they are still paid because a lot of companies make revenue through DVDs etc. In short it`s still pro wrestling.

Again... I agree with Mandingo here... If I can see something as sad as Curling n the sports channel, or something as boring as golf... Wrestling is most definitely a sport as well. And living near Boston, I can honestly tell you that Red Sox/Yankees games are rigged to extend the series and sell more seats at the stadium. When they go for the ALCS and go all 7 games, isn`t it convenient for the stadiums to have sold ALL THOSE TICKETS? Or how about Lakers/Celtics? No different...

Yeah it`s fake, but it can still be quite a spectacle, especially for younger folk. Unfortunately this caused my strong cousin to wrestle me many times when I was small, which wasn`t fun...

mandingo3519, your point about fixed sports reminded me of a Mock The Week joke: "And in case you missed them, here are next week`s Italian football [soccer] results."

@ metalm0rgan i agree with you pre-determined is not a sport so neither is baseball, American football, the olympics ..... every time i turn around there is more talk about rigged this and shaved points that blah blah blah but realy a sport to me is something that takes talent determanation and even wrestling qualifies as that if i have to live with skeet shooting and golf being called a sport pro wrestling is one too lol

@limphotdog

Pro-Wrestling is definately NOT a sport by definition. For it to be a sport there needs to be competition. There is no competition as the winners are pre-determined.

Although I agree with what you are saying in that it is very physically demanding and potentially very dangerous.

Meh, the only thing that`s "fake" about wrestling is the melodrama they put into the story lines/characters to hype up the audience. Matches are of course planned out. Other than that, the physical activity still makes it a sport and like so many others are saying injuries are definitely real. My uncle used to do wrestling for the local "pro" wrestling group up here and after one match he had to get quiet a few stitches on his head. Also, he`s now having back problems from the years of wrestling he did.

Batmanners... As Mandingo and myself can tell you... DAMN RIGHT.... It hurts on day one, and hurts on day 1001, to take those huge hits. Injuries are VERY real. Many a wrestler in my personal history has left pats of themselves in the ring. There have even been a few who have left their lives. Call it fake... or a soap opera.... That`s fine. But NEVER take away from the reality of the impact these guys put on their lives for YOUR entertainment. I will never regret the years I put in the ring, or the injuries I walked out with, because I did it all for the fans and I STILL meet people today, 5 years out of the business, who walk up and tell me they enjoyed watching me in the ring. It feels good to make people happy. And I still welcome all the "The moves and hits are fake" or "the ring is just a trampoline" idiots to come see me and find out for themselves how much it hurts to do what we do, and how much of ourselves we give to the industry...

Calling pro wrestling fake is like going to watch Iron Man 2 and screaming "FAKE" at the screen.

Everyone in the industry admits it.

It`s not a cover up, you`re not the first to break the news, get over it...

@Genocyde

The problem is that some people STILL believe its not just a TV show, despite more than 30 years of exposes, confessions, inside stories, etc not to mention the Actor`s Strike putting a temporary stop to it (THERE`S a subtle clue folks) a few years back.

But as bridog6996 said, they ARE admirable for their fitness and ability to stick to the pre-planned choreography, in what must be a damn tough gig.

Wrestling fans don`t usually do it for the story lines, in fact, the cheesiness of wrestling stories is usually what draws people in. The wrestling is a major component, but not to be taken seriously because, as everyone knows, it`s fake.

Fake in the sense that they know what they will do, they know how to do it without hurting themselves. I don`t care how strong you are, jumping from the top of the turnbuckle hurts every god damned time no matter how you land. Falling off the ladder out to the side of the ring hurts...every time.

You can fake wrestling, but you cannot fake all the real injuries sustained by wrestlers every year.

I used to watch it, not anymore. Still think most wrestlers are awesome at what they do.

Okay, for the wrestling critics who blabber on ad nauseum about how it`s a soap opera and yadda yadda, I wanna know...what do YOU watch on TV?

It might be fake. It might be scripted. I`ve heard it and I`m still watching it. If it really bothers you that much then I`m happy to let it.

How do people even discuss pro wrestling without mentioning that it`s nothing but a soap opera on steroids? So many ppl take this shiz seriously, and I just can`t believe it. My remaining shred of faith in humanity blows out the window every time I see a kid in a John Cena (sp?) t-shirt.

Sure wrestling is fake in that the wrestlers aren`t actually "competing" against each other, but it`s very real in that those guys` bodies take a ton of physical punishment and suffer serious injuries on a regular basis.

i agree that wrestlers are just as fit as any pro football player and i also agree that the moves hurt like heel and they are extremely well trained. however, i do not understand how WWE and the other shows like that are so popular. it is the lamest thing ever watching those guys "acting".

now related to the post...it is an awesome move ;D

Of course it`s fake, but that doesn`t take away from the fact that some of these guys are really dedicated and skilled athletes who risk serious injuries doing some of those moves.

That being said, it`s funny to think that there really are people who actually believe these guys could pull that off without hours of practice and cooperation.

Calling wrestling fake is like calling a soap opera fake.

DDDDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHH.

That never has nor will ever be the drating point. People who call wrestling fake are the type of people to watch jurassic park and stand up screaming "THOSE AREN`T REAL IT`S JUST FAKE DINOSAURS!"

Now, is wrestling lame? lol yes.

He grabbed his legs to make sure that when he landed, his arms wouldnt be caught underneath the guy, which would break his arm or dislocate his shoulder... Again, its all about knowing HOW to take the hit... The wrestlers are doing their best to put on an entertaining and athletic show, without injuring each other.

@taylor:

Respect.

I wrestled for a while in a local school gym promotion. I can assure all of you that it`s "fake".

Of course, it`s fake if fake means it hurts like hell and take a ton of athleticism and stamina. You have to be fit like a pro football player, and a marathon runner all at once.

As a former wrestler, I can honestly tell you that wrestling is fake on only 2 levels... The winner is predetermined before the match, and the stories are the result of writers... The rest is real.

This move is a Powerbomb being reversed into a Canadian Destroyer. It may seem faked, but these guys spend hours learning how to do these moves and have learned to defend. Its similar to judo, where your training is both learning to give the throw AND take it properly.

Whenever I hear people spouting that wrestling is fake, I tell them to come see me and I`ll throw them into a few moves and see if they tell me it didn`t hurt. A piledriver is a piledriver. Its gonna hurt no matter HOW you land... Same goes for powerbombs and other high impact moves. Wanna say its fake? Take a few of those moves and see what you think afterward.

Okay, I`m a wrestling fan and all... but that show was obviously promoted by an idiot. I can see four entire fans there... and that`s assuming none of them are friends or family of any of the wrestlers at the show. I drew a bigger crowd on the first show I ran... and I lost £350 on the thing.

Also, I note the bar tender who is bored out of his mind. You can just tell that running through his mind is "and I thought this might bring some money in, kill me now".
