i totally agree that the jet ski idea was stupid when the jet ski starts going its just going to make you stumble and lose your balance not letting you "run on the water" as far

I reckon there`s just a big plank of something just under the water. When you see them at the big lake, they always fall into the water at the same point, and the ripples made by the jetski look unusually shallow on the part of the lake where he was apparently running.

i should have picked it as fake when they said they want to get a jet ski to ride them in! thats just dumb!

I think the bar attached to the boat going across the water ahead of them would break the surface tension and therefore destroying the credibility. This makes me dissipation :/

Open your eyes people, learn to look at everything you see with a critiical eye.
Mythbusters skimmed a car over water going not more than 100mph
I forget how fast it was but it was def not 500mps
A car has a large flat bottom, which greatly helps skimming. I think that makes a comparison between cars and humans too much of a stretch.

Although it`s much heavier too. I don`t know how much effect each factor would have.

Ah, I`ve just thought of something. I was wrong. There have been some cases of people being flung out of racing boats and skimming on the water for a little way, even one racer skimming on his feet. Fast as those boats are, they`re nowhere near 500mph.

The weight of a human is far greater too.

Good point about the skiing. I think it`s different, though, because in waterskiing you are moving through the water as opposed to the repeated slapping motion of running.

Also this vid links to some make money website, so I think its a way to get people to the website so they can scam them.

I`ve found a pair of scientists who studied a small lizard that can run over water, Basiliscus basiliscus, to find out how it can do so.

As a result, because they were curious, they looked into what would be needed for a human to do the same thing. Shoes the size of umbrellas that you could somehow lift as high as your ears and ram down again without one hitting the other (which would require the shoes to pass through each other somehow), far faster movement than any human has and at least 15 times the sustained power output that any human has.

Thomas McMahon and James Glasheen

Here`s what they were studying. Real video, these animals actually can run on water:

That works for something at the limit of your ability if you don`t have enough confidence to do it. In effect, you`re talking yourself into increasing your confidence in your ability.

It won`t let you do anything beyond your ability, and this is way beyond anyone`s ability.
if thats real thats awesome, if its fake i feel dumb for believing its real!
It`s faked as part of an advert.

I wouldn`t say you`re dumb. Gullible, but not necessarily dumb.

This is (obviously) impossible, but it contains enough bits of truth to fool some people. The skimming stone was a nice touch, because most people have done that and it`s a proof of concept that lends a superficial plausibility to this fakery.

It might be possible for a human to skim over water in the same way that a stone does, but they would have to be travelling at a ridiculous speed. Far too much weight, far too little surface area. It would be like trying to skim a large concrete bollard on one end.

Is anyone up to calculating a rough required speed? I`m thinking in the region of 500mph.

To all the people saying that "If believing is the only way, then this has to be bull", I have something to say. Most really great athletes in their sport say the same thing! They can`t explain their natural talent in any other way, really, so they chalk it down to "I told myself I could, and then I did".
It was the same way I first learned to fly, too.

methinks there was something under that water upon which they were running. Perhaps it was slightly curved in relation to the short, and perhaps it ended right exactly at the spot they kept "falling" in. But fun video, none-the-less.

And, as for the water repellent shoes being the key (oh, and "believing")! HA! Next they`re going to say they don`t ever eat or drink water, only get nourishment from the air they breathe. ;-)

One flaw.. other than, you know, the entire premise.

If you need to believe you can do it, before you can really do it. How the eff did they start? What drugs were they on before they eyed up a pond and thought, yes, I can take that. And whatever drugs they are, I doubt their abilities to allow you to retain your co-ordination.
