Man Has An Obsessive Marble Addiction

Submitted by: luketoyou 7 years ago in Weird

When you think about it, his obsession is not nearly as sick as others. What do you collect on obsessive levels?

i dont think his track and collection are all that impressive. For 60 years in the making I expected a race track across his house

ok he lost his marbles then he lost his mind at the age of 12. a very rich woman accepted to marry him because "omg he`s crazyyy he`s so different. yes i want to marry him" then she watched him play his marbles as her youth is passing by. her friends told her to dump him but she said "no he needs me, i can`t leave him like this. he`s got noone else!"

then here they are alone. a sad old woman with a childish old man with marbles, waiting to die.

very sad story

"When on holiday he say`s he misses his marbles"

Sounds like he has hopelessly lost his marbles!

I don`t know whether to feel sorry for him or not.

On one hand, he seems to genuinely enjoy what he does, but then again, I think it`s obvious he`s got some underlying mental and/or behavioral condition.

Interesting, though.

He plays marbles 8h/day. And has a huge nice house. Where does the money come from?

And if he were paid to name marbles with people`s names (real people)? "And there goes Bill Gates, 2 laps in 134 seconds...".

At least he seems happy. But it that actually his wife? I think it must be his sister. She actually said it started when he was 12, and sounds like she was there. Unless they were friends since 12 and eventually married, but I don`t think so.

And that`s like a real-life semi Marble Maze. I wonder if he`s seen that?

I`d like him to watch the stock market for me. Maybe if we change the index fund`s names to the same ones he has for his marbles he`ll start tracking the market.

There are a lot worse things to be obsessed about, He seems genuine. I`m sure he does other things, though this report and the music they added make it seem so sad.

Wow. Was that his wife? Perhaps he really is autistic as someone mentioned and that woman is more of a lifelong caretaker, perhaps a young (comparatively) aunt who never married or something.

I don`t collect on an obsessive level but I keep movie tickets. That is because I rarely can go to the theater, so I like to keep the tickets as a memento for those fun times when I had the money.

I used to collect model cars and books.

My mother stored the bag of books (Weighing in at over 100KG) on the cardboard box containing all my model cars one week.

I got about $10`000 in MtG Cards that I really should ebay at some stage.

I collect dice and roleplaying books I guess, though that`s not really a collection yet.

I used to collect regular books and DVDs, but sold them all when I needed the money. Again had about... $8000 worth second hand, so say... $16K new?

also used to collect Warhammer figures.

We moved country too often for me to keep anything up basically, and I`m the only one who actually looked after them.

There could be something Zen about watching marbles roll down a path like that... for about 5 minutes.
Then I`d be bored to tears.

>> "me thinks perhaps the sound of the marbles rolling calms him like the sound of running water."

I think it may also have to do with how they just sort of flow down the track so smooth and majestic like. Obsessions are so fascinating, but creepy at the same time.

I wonder if he`d go ballistic if a marble fell of the track.

The man cares for his "marbles", what is the big deal ? :D

But the love seems to be strong, the wife doesn`t leave him, although his husband, who is 72 years old, likes to play with marbles.
