Eh, at least you can type on it normally without needing an attachment, and it probably supports Flash :P

I`d have to see the real one first before I`d actually want it. Is it a complete computer? What kind of power does it have? The rolling up is pretty neat, but what are the pros and cons? I don`t just choose a computer because it`s got a cute gimmick.

Likewise. I use a tower anyway, because I don`t need a laptop and I prefer a proper keyboard, larger display, potential upgrading and gaming-level hardware.

But I see no reason why this couldn`t be a proper laptop. They could limit its functionality to make it like an ipad, but they wouldn`t have to. The only thing that isn`t quite possible right now is the large hi-res touch-sensitive OLED display.

I wouldn`t want it because you can`t type on it normally - the "keyboard" is a touchscreen and, perhaps ironically, they lack the sense of touch that a proper keyboard has. But it is cool and very portable.

They`ve been working toward something like this for years, It`s not that far off.

I`d say within 5 years. At the moment, companies are talking about bringing devices with 7 inch OLED displays to market in Q3 of this year, and those don`t bend.

@Angilion I hate fake keyboards too.

Some concerns I have with this idea is it doesn`t look like it could have a CD/DVD drive or much battery power. Also, the way they`ve designed the power cord through the tube thing looks really cumbersome. Is it even any more practical? I already have a small and light laptop I can slip into my bag with my other things (this one is like a whole other bag I`d have to carry).

Good point on the optical drive - you can`t bend those. Although you could work around it with an external optical drive attached via USB, that`s just something else to carry.

OLEDs use less power than LCDs, so it wouldn`t be as bad as it first seems, but I think you`re right on that too. It`s a very large screen and the rest of the hardware accounts for most of the power consumption anyway.

The screen size is the only practical advantage I can see over a current laptop. This could have a 30 inch widescreen and still roll small enough to be easily portable.

It`s interesting, but I feel the first products will be pretty buggy.

Sure they`ve been developing it and may even have a working prototype, but chances are something like this will need several years to settle into a more stable system. I`ll stick with my desktops for a bit longer.

WANT... I`ve been wanting a wacom cintiq for ages now and it looks like this does exactly the same job but in a truely portable unit (For those who dont know a cintiq is a drawing tablet where you draw directly on the screen, but you use it as a separate monitor and it will also set you back around £1500 for the large one) This new one would be all i need and hopefully lesser in price after a few years. I want it to be the future now please!!

@Little-Red, I have a cintiq for work. It is awesome.

The trouble with this laptop is I doubt it would be powerful enough to run Photoshop CS5 or another graphics program without skipping and crap. I had a tablet PC and that was my biggest problem, so I opted for the cintiq attached to a desktop instead. It`s pretty rare (and expensive) to find portability and real computing power and I`m sure this would be no exception.

The porn music is incredibly appropriate for this.

It should... Since it rolls up, if this ever comes out, there`ll be a video within the next week of someone literally...

    Well, you get the picture.

Anyway, cool concept, but I`d still rather have a laptop, and a desktop over that any day. I love my tower.

some of those features couldnt work. if its flexible enough to be rolled up like a used towel than the stand wouldnt be strong enough to hold it up or be able to hide a pen inside of it. the keyboard would have to be heat sensitive since it cant really be "keys". that i actually like...but the whole rolling up is too strange.

If you watch it the video the thing is segemented. Its not like a perfect roll like a roll of paper. SO it could easily hold a pen in one segment and a stand in another.

Ya they actually developed roll up screens years ago... but at that time the screens were black and white only like what you would see on a first generation gameboy or something.

This, however, is muuuuuch better and I could easily see it possible if they could make the internals of a computer spaced out enough to roll up like that... I mean, they already can do it with a screen but getting the inside to roll like that would be tricky.

I still think it would be more practical if it folded in half. Then it be much more compact and easy to slip between the other stuff in your bag, but still have the benefit of being able to fold out into a larger surface. I really don`t think the yoga mat shape is very practical or portable.

I really don`t think this is plausible either. I can see this thing becoming a piece of junk. And why would you carry something so light and awkward on a strap on your shoulder?

The idea of this invention looks rather convinent.
Although the music, NOT very good choice.
Call me what you will, but I personally am looking foward to when this device hits the shelves.

I liked the concept, but whoever was responsible for the choice of music better never get that task again. Or have a learning curve the shape of a cliff in how to match music to your purpose and audience.

This won`t happen. It`s way too thick to carry around. If anything, laptops will be all holograms in the future. Not that crap.

Makes me wonder what technologies go into this, the tower looks to be the most interesting part, seeing as it houses the USB ports, webcam, speaker, and power button. They don`t mention how the power unit attaches to the unit at all, so that part is rather puzzling to me. Its a great concept, would be sweet to see a prototype.

I would prefer if the roll in the centre went away, and it would suck if it still had USB ports.

    Apple scares me.

They have some good ideas, but they themselves are evil.

(By the way, this reminds me of a flexible Ipad)

Come on Microsoft! You must beat them!.

Calm down, everyone. From the power plug it looks like it`s only made for use in continental Europe.

Once they make a power supply for America, then we wait for a couple of generations while the bugs are worked out, the price comes down and it runs Linux.
