The only reason I did that was for the people a few pages back that were all, "OMG THAT`S SOOO UNHEALTHY!" and "OMG THATS SOO MANY CALORIES!". (Granted, that`s not exactly what they said, but it`s the idea behind it.) I was curious. Give me a break!

I also can`t help it, I`m currently in weight-loss mode and I`ve been counting the calories of like everything to make sure I`m not going over a certain amount. Dieting`s a bitch.

wrong - too much peanut butter to jam ratio, needs less peanut butter, ie only on one peice of bread, jam on the other. DONE

@JaundiceCake

in england we call what is in the picture jam(both smooth and with fruit bits) and we call gelatin, jelly

both the english and american ways are correct because they are from different country`s dialect...

i suggest both you and the person you quoted grow up and stop insulting somthing just because it is different

"Yes JuandiceCake, you`re right.

Jam is that stuff in the picture, the stuff you put in sandwiches.

Jelly is the stuff that wobbles around that is generally served at parties.

Anyone who says otherwise is wrong."

No. That`s not what I meant.
Jam has whole fruit pieces in it and cannot be spread. Jelly is spreadable and gelatinous, usually for toast and sammies.

And anyone who calls gelatin `jelly` is a fag. LUL HUZZAH, JELL-O! IT`S ALIVE!

>PranaDevil: Anyone who says anything contrary to my belief is wrong.

jam 2 (jm)
n.
A preserve made from whole fruit boiled to a pulp with sugar.

jelly1
n pl -lies
1. (Cookery) a fruit-flavoured clear dessert set with gelatine US and Canadian trademark Jell-o
2. (Cookery) a preserve made from the juice of fruit boiled with sugar and used as jam

Jelly can mean either of those definitions. So GTFO.

info given by "penguinazul". REALLY? Your gonna break down the caloric value of a PB&J sammich?
Well thanks but most people who actually enjoy them (i.e. kids, poor people, old toothless people and stoners who are tired of cereal and nachos) do not care. Oh and Jiff FTW!

Okay I actually went and looked at the jars in my pantry.

2 tablespoons of "Peter Pan" creamy peanut butter = 210 calories.

1 tablespoon of store brand grape jelly = 50.

Depending on the bread you use, and if you cut the servings in half, this could easily be a sandwich thats under 400 calories.

I usually put peanut butter on both sides and put like a small spoonful of jelly on one side. I like peanut butter, lol. Add a glass of milk and it goes down perfect! And remember guys: ANYTHING is okay in moderation. :)

No, there is a difference. Jam is made from whole fruit, while jelly is made from the juice. They often taste they same, but jam has actual fruit pieces in it and jelly doesn`t.
0
Reply
Female 1,677
"is jelly the same as what we call jam?"

Probably yes. I never hear anybody call it anything BUT jam unless they`re saying the words `peanut butter and jelly sandwich`. As far as I`m concerned, jelly and jam are the same thing-- I just call it jam.

That`s weird europe people don`t eat it, I thought it was like the most basic sandwich in existence.

i wouldnt eat pb&j even if I was high. its not a sandwich by any measure. you can just go sticking crazy shxt between some bread and call it a sandwich. that is offensive to real sandwiches. real sandwiches have meat. and that nutella - sea salt - chipotle combination *sounds* awful. but i guess i can`t knock it till i try it.

Skippy creamy peanut butter 3 tbsp: 285 cals ( I think there`s probably more than that, but lets be conservative)
Bonne Maman Strawberry preserves 2 tbsp: 100 cals (again, I think theres probably more than that in the pic).
Lets say this is wonder bread (since theres no way to identify it and wonder is common). That would be 140 cals for 2 slices.
Total: 525

You could have a Whopper (Burger king) without the mayo for 525 calories.
The infamous KFC double down sandwich is 540 calories
You could have 2 6 inch (aka a footlong) Roast Beef subs (without mayo) from Subway for about 560

Sure, its probably tasty... but I can think of better ways to spend that many calories.

"How about eating a fruit instead, what about an Apple"

PB&J has protein and whole grains (assuming you don`t use crap bread like this and use good ol` whole grain bread). And if you use organic jam and PB (which, admittedly, does not taste as good), it`s not as terrible for you.

Besides, you could have PB&J AND an apple, and make a full meal of it.

And if you do this, the jelly doesn`t get all the way to the edge, thus making those parts dry and untasty. Thumbs down.

First of all, white bread = yuck :-P
Secondly, you put pb on one slice and jelly on the other. It`s faster, cleaner, and you don`t have to "flatten the sandwich and smush the sides together." Flat-as-a-pancake sandwiches also = yuck.
