Marijuana will never be legalized. Why? Because the drug companies can`t control it and profit from it.

@nielzz and here is the biggest thing missing from this, they need more people to analyze your country and notice the lower crime rate and lower use of "real" drugs....

God the government thinks we`re all too stupid to take care of ourselves. they should legalize all drug usage. then natural selection would take place. ;-)

@tedgp: they "think" huh?
buddy, scientist have been using mice for testing for a long time, and its been proven as an effective way to start testing something before moving to pigs, primates, and then humans.

your statement is a fail.

you can legally drink or smoke yourself to death...but you cannot smoke pot, which has little to no know dangerous effects on the body, does not make a person aggressive and has well established medical uses...

not to mention that hemp could be used to stop the wholesale destruction of forest...and be used to make a ton of other things from fuel to clothing...

the gov is blindly follow BS dogma CREATED and CRAFTED by them after prohibition ended to do nothing more than SAVE GOV JOBS. that`s right, pot was deemed evil in order for the aholes running prohibition to keep their jobs...

I think the gov should have to conclusively prove through a non-biased third party study that pot has some type of significant ill effect on people or on society before they can continue to make it illegal. otherwise they are acting like nothing more than a nanny and removing our freedom of choice.

still not sure how society is okay with alcohol and not weed??? that mak

I love how they think that testing on mice means the same results will happen in humans. It`s the same as saying testing in hippo`s will yield the same results as testing on giraffes.

I think somebody needs to come up with a way to quickly test for marijuana (like a breathalyzer, but for THC), then legalize it and put restrictions on it the way there are restrictions on alcohol. Everybody who smokes pot is going to keep doing it, whether it`s legal or not, and legalizing and taxing it could help boost the economy. It`s kind of like the college dorms that allow teenagers to drink if they do it on campus, so they aren`t driving afterwards.

It seems to me that the public is much more aware of the social need for marijuana and are much more educated about the inaccuracy of the myths surrounding it. Slowly but surely more and more states are decriminalizing it and it won`t be long before it`s legalized. At the very least, the social burden of prohibition far exceeds the burden of it`s effects and the benefits far outweigh both.
God I wish I had some weed now. I haven`t had it in years because I just can`t get it, but I still want it!

You bump into a guy who had a 6 pack of beer, and he`s likely to start a fight with you, then drive off angry and have an accident. You bump into someone who is high, and THEY`LL probably apologize to YOU. I`ve seen similar things happen. So has my mother, who is a Parole Officer at a Provincial Prison.

the only NEGATIVE effect i tcan think of is that it increases chances of psychosis over a perio of 5 years. Which is why moderation is key :)

K3vin,

Correct, I like how Bill Hicks (I think it was him) said it, "And if you hit someone while high who cares?! You were going 4 miles an hour anyway."

But really, the number one reason why I can`t stand America is because even though evidence is presented we`d rather think the worse and illogical of things were true. No one will ever act on these studies, nothing will happen. People would rather be "right" than admit they were wrong.

"Fine, provided anyone convicted of DUI of pot receives at least the same penalty as if it were alcohol."

Wow, you`re ignorant... Obviously never smoked weed before. Being stoned isn`t the same as being drunk. While i don`t condone driving after smoking weed, I don`t think most people do anyways. It made me way to paranoid and cautious, where alcohol is almost the opposite while slowing your reaction times.

also to "HarryBalszak" I drive High all the time and I will Swear on anything you put before me that I am a better driver with itt. I am not aggressive, I do not rage, I take my time, and I sometimes drive past my exit cause I forget where I`m going. I know it makes some people nervous to do it and then they refuse to drive. DUI is for alcohol that makes you think you CAN drive better but can`t, its actually the opposite with weeed o_0

I live in NYC and I`ve noticed a shift in attitude as recently at the past 2-3 years. I have and do smoke joints when I`m out on a street like out side a bar and have never been hassled (except for people wanting a hit). Cops have happened upon me more than once and the worst thats happened is I was told to do that inside and if I didn`t put it out then he would write me a ticket. Once a cop actually winked at me as he rode by on a bike... I do think that if I wasn`t a nice looking white boy this would be different so YAY me.

When was the last time you heard a news story in which some guy who was stoned off weed killed another person while driving?

Your Response: (insert lame, overly dramatized rationalization here)

"i think they should just stop fighting to legalize it and just decriminalize it. stop arresting the every day toker and locking them up bc they wanted to smoke a little pot...ugh its so ridiculous how many uses upon uses marijuana could serve to the public."

No fan of drugs- don`t care to use `em, but I support legalization. The cost of fighting marijuana is far worse than anything marijuana could do legalized.

10 reasons?

Can it really be 10 reasons when 2 are broken down into sub-categories?

Ah the heck with it.
I`m just glad I`m Canadian and can smoke a joint in public and not even worry about a fine let alone 3-5 years in a federal penn.
