Guy Shows How Knives Are Better Than Guns

Submitted by: Matwix_2004 7 years ago in Funny

So, are you convinced I-A-B? Going to get rid of all your guns? Look at this guy, he"s like a ninja with that knife.

It is a proven fact that if someone charges you within 21 feet they will stab/cut you before you can shoot them, and you also have to consider that you may miss due to the stress involved with shooting incidents, and that if you do get one shot off and hit anywhere but the brain or spine they are still going to be able to kill you and you can`t stop them even though they will never live themselves. Sometimes a good defense is the best offense. In all reality if you have to kill someone within 21 feet an edged weapon is proven more effective.

With as loud as he is though, there`s more than enough time to pull out my pistol, turn around, and shoot him.

Knives are cool, but there`s a reason an entire Bansai Ambush fell to 1 machine gun in WWII.

I`m sure anyone would simply disintegrate from the force of your awesome manliness before they got within 20 feet.

If you weren`t so dazzled by the brilliance of the sun you see shining out of your arse, you might have seen that my posts were completely impersonal.

Making it personal was a mistake on your part, because the only weapons here are words and you can`t shoot those. Not even in your dreams where you`re vastly more capable with a gun than any trained soldier and you react faster than any human.

This guy is as goofy as it gets, but...

The 21 ft. rule is legit. Try it with someone. Empty your gun and holster it, give your friend a pen and mark off 21 ft. Don`t start to draw until he shows the "knife". See who gets there first.

I`ve done it a dozens of times and even out to 30+ feet it`s a coin toss on who`s going to win. Even if the person got an accurate shot off, I was still close enough to stab them in the throat without losing momentum.

Check youtube for a movie called "Edged Weapons" that covers the 21 ft rule more comprehensively.

Does this 21 ft rule not consider that a normal thinking person if seeing someone coming to attack them wouldn`t back peddle or move while also drawing a gun.

@mrpuddle: That was a great video. He got that thing out in less than a second.

This video is terrible. 21 FEET??!?!If you count how long it takes him to get to that target, I did, and it`s about 3 seconds. In 3 seconds, provided I`ve got one in the chamber, I could nearly empty my G-19. Trust me, I`ve counted how long it takes at the gun range. Especially with such a light trigger pull and no external safety. Thanks, I`ll continue to carry and leave the knives for cutting fruit.

Angilion I hope your willing to bet your life on it. I`m sure my .357 mag snub nose would win in any instance. Even if you had it a knife pressed to my neck and were asking for my money. Reach into my pocket and you would get a chest full of 158 grain lead. That`s the same power as a 40 pound sledge hitting you in the chest at full swing. I can also shoot from the hip so if your thinking that running at me will work I can hip fire six rounds in less than it takes you to get to me from 20 feet..and hit you. Remember practice makes perfect. (licensed gun owner/carrier and hunter.)

Anyone saying they can draw and fire in the span of time it takes for a person to run 21 ft at you is either retarded or doesnt understand the concept of reaction time vs advance speed. All these people saying they;d have 2 or 3 bullets in them arent realizing that they wouldnt even have time to see the threat and draw the gun in the time it took someone to advance 21 ft. As former military, I can tell you with good certainty that the 21 ft rule is not only solid, but is part of military basic training.

@Baalthazaq: Exactly. The circumstances are what matter here.

The 21 foot situation would likely never happen. Let`s say I`m walking down the street and see Knifey McKniferson in his front yard wailing on cardboard cutouts. I am going to see him from way more than 21 feet away, and if I have a gun, I might just unbutton that bad boy just to be on the safe side.

The only scenario in which his tactics would work would be a sneak attack, in which case, yes you would probably get owned.

Also, a knife attack can be countered. You can`t go Neo on bullets IRL.

@Loxen: That`s why you don`t have a boyfriend that is a complete retard. If he sees you raiding the fridge or something when you get home all he has to do is say your name.

Wow this is probably going to be tl;dr for most people.

I would never date a guy THAT "into" weapons (guns, knifes, or otherwise). Its one thing to want your World of Warcraft sword replica because its "nerdtastic" or to have fun with paper ninja stars, its another entirely to be into things because they can lop someones head off. Sure you can defend against intruders... but I`d hate to be mistaken for one if I come home late at night for any reason.

Somewhere around here, there is an article about a kid that fought a burglar that was hiding in his garage, lopped off the burglar`s forearm and in ended up in more trouble than if he had shot the guy.

In US, the blades in the video are outlawed, however, I`m positively sure that this guy will totally screw up any burglar that is standing perfectly still in a wide-open uncluttered space.

Lolboy: Given what circumstances?

If the gunner is ready, expecting, aiming, and then the knife wielder starts to charge? Sure. I`d even say 6 bullets.

If the gun is holstered, buttoned, he`s not expecting it and the knife wielder is already charging? No. He`s most likely drated.

@Lionhart2:

You`re right, it`s not like the movies, but if you`re not utterly drating retarded about it, you can kill a man in self-defense with little to no repercussion. As far as legalities go, dude`s charging you with a drating SWORD. At that point, killing him would be justifiable self-defense.

@OldOllie:

Only 2 or 3? I own a Heckler & Koch .45, with a 10+1 capacity. I can dump the magazine in the time it would take someone to cover 21`, and hitting anything inside 21` is like shooting the broad side of a barn.

Angillion, the problem is that most of the gun-toting morons wouldn`t think.

Their entire process would be "See, draw, shoot."

Which is why there are so many incidents involving guns, because people don`t think first, then shoot.

They shoot first, then regret it for the rest of their lives after they find out it was their *insert live-in family member here* having just come home late, slightly drunk, and raiding the fridge, or some other similar situation...

Here`s something any Wilderness-savvy person knows: if you`re attacked by a pack, you don`t kill, you wound. The pain-screams of wounded animals will scare away the others, whereas if you kill a few, the rest will not realize anything`s wrong and keep coming.

Now, consider humanity and a potential fight scene. A gun is as useless as a stick. Why? Because if you don`t pull the trigger, you may as well have empty hands. If you do pull the trigger, you`ll likely be jailed, sued, or otherwise have the rest of your life ruined. Real Life isn`t like the movies.

With a knife, you can wound. And they know it. You may not kill them, but there is the very real prospect, in their awareness, that it could hurt them permanently, and that same basic animal fear described above applies.

Of course if you`re the attacker, you`re better off with a gun. It takes less time to shoot someone 21 feet away than it does to run at them with a knife.

It really comes down to a gun being a ranged weapon and a knife being a hand to hand weapon.
Angilion are you saying a knife is better?
*In the described circumstances*, yes.

The circumstances are that you are attacked without warning by a person wielding a knife who was within 21 feet of you when you saw them coming (or when they starting coming at you with a knife).

In those circumstances, you`re better off with a suitable knife yourself if you know anything about fighting with one. In those circumstances, a gun is a very short light club with a very clumsy grip.

As former military, I`ll say that the 21 ft rule isnt accurate, but its close. Its more of a guide than a strict fact. Just figure that you`re walking around unaware and someone starts running at you from about 25 ft away. In the time it takes for you to draw and fire, the person has already closed the gap and gotten close enough to close quarters engage you. This is the purpose of the rule that states "Never walk around unfamiliar territory unarmed and unaware. Always travel in groups. And always be ready to fire at a fast moving target."

You are all sadly ignorant. It is basic training in law enforcement now and has been shown time and time again that a trained police officer CANNOT draw his weapon, aim and fire in the time it takes a man with a knife to come at you from a MINIMUM distance of 21 feet. Basically speaking, if you brought a gun to a knife fight, you will be dead.

@uhmerikin

The 21 foot rule has been around since the early 80`s as a part of cop training. It basically says that in the time it takes an officer to recognize a threat, draw, aim, and fire, someone with a knife or whatever could move 21 feet. So, if you are within 21 feet of someone like that, have your gun drawn.

This video isn`t about a drating duel between a gun and a knife for drat sakes. Talk about nerds...

Well lets see. In the amount of time it took him to run up to me to swing I would probably have just fired an automatic from the hip and killed him. You better get a good stab in with that knife cause if a round from a high powered gun even grazes you your going to be in some pain.

Not only that but everyone who would be in the jungle fighting troops as he says is highly trained in hand to hand combat and would have torn his arm right off if he came running up swinging wildly like that.

So this guy doesn`t know anything about using a bladed weapon properly. You don`t hack and slash with weapons like that. You quickly and carefully place your attacks either with a quick jab or with a very short fast slicing motion to severe a specific target like an artery or tendon.

Well, this guy may not demonstrate it well, but in the law enforcement business we call it the 21 foot or 25 foot rule, and yeah, knives are better at this range, that`s why we carry batons and such, depending on your service: military, prison, etc. The reason why is because you don`t walk around with your gun roostered with a bullet in the chamber and the safety off. Everyone who goes through training goes through a demonstration where one guy runs at you with a rubber knife or somesuch proxy, and you are supposed to pull your weapon from the holster, take off the safety and rooster it. The point being, if you are not ready for it, the assailant has a really good chance of reaching you and knocking your gun out of the way before you can shoot him. This is why we are all trained in close quarters combat with batons/ knives/tasers etc., not just guns.
