I`ve been using Chrome since the first day it was released and I love it. Still not as fast as lightning but it`s pretty damn fast.

Eventually, Chrome `rots`, and you have to reinstall. For example, after a few months, YouTube wouldn`t display properly, Hulu was just...ugh..., and photobucket didn`t work at all. Fortunately, it`s easy and fairly quick to wipe Chrome out with the Revo Uninstaller, re-install, and port everything over.
I love the AdThwart and Mouse Strokes extensions...
Oh, and I love my potato gun. Got banned from the local college campus for a year because of it.

That`s a Mac site - Haven`t got Firefox installed at present on either of my PC`s but I assume it works just the same on PC.

Chrome definitely rocks. Used Firefox for years and recently decided to try out Chrome and never went back. The main drawback is that Chrome is still not totally stable, and crashes every so often.

if you look closely you will notice that the mouse cursor is always over the forward button so all they did was load the page go back then when the mouse was hit it just clicked forward

"@OrangeCrow, I got adware last week and had no idea where it came from
i think you may have just answered my question"

@SomeShoes: Yeah you really can`t trust any websites anymore these days. I let my guard down and used Firefox here without Nocript on and right away I got a crappy piece of adware, which thankfully went away when I did system restore. It`s normally not the site itself causing the problems, but the advertisments on the page hiding some nasty scripts.

So that`s why I recommend getting No-script or Adblocker on Firefox and NEVER turning it off completely for any website. I`m not sure if there`s an equivalent to that on Google Chrome yet, but I will check. It`s been a while since I`ve properly used it for anything useful, so maybe there`s some more things released for it now.

I use chrome, and though I would like to have some of the little add-ons that I used with Firefox, I`ve been making due.

It`s definitely a lot faster than any of the others I`ve used... Probably because it`s so simple, and not weighed down with so many stupid add-ons, for that matter...

"Google Chrome.

I think that`s actually pretty close to the original description I submitted but I can`t remember the exact wording :P.

Why does it matter dormetheus? The browser loads around as fast as a sound wave; I could care less what it`s travelling through. That`s fast enough for me.

(But i`m still gonna stick to firefox just because. :)

"The second test slows the sound waves. Even light waves are slowed by passing through different materials; sound waves are also slowed by passing through certain materials. False. Sound travels faster and further through denser materials, i.e. liquid. The test isn`t really measuring the speed of sound, though, just how quickly a speaker can project paint, which is two different things.

I downloaded chrome. It`s spiffy icon is sitting on my desktop begging for me to click it. I`m too used to FF and IE. Don`t worry chrome, I`ll use you some day.

I`m sick of EVERY browser that comes out claiming its the fastest... because it isn`t true. I click on Firefox, THEN Safari a second later. Safari has the page opened and fully displayed before Firefox has even shown a blank canvas. EVERY time. On Macs at least, Safari beats everything.

i dont believe that the song waves test was accurate because it takes more engery to move that paint alot more than it would to just move the air and cause the sonic vibrations

The first two tests are very unscientific in their approach. Some of the kinetic energy of the potato is lost due to the slicer that it flies through. There is also a little bit of time wasted actually giving the potato the force to propel it forward.

The second test slows the sound waves. Even light waves are slowed by passing through different materials; sound waves are also slowed by passing through certain materials. Sound waves travel faster through air than through a viscous liquid. It wouldn`t be as visually persuasive, but the more scientific route would be to have a microphone with very short range sensors pick up on the travelling sound wave.

I`ve had it for awhile, never really got that into it. However this does take the term "fast as lightning" literally.

It depends on the speed of your internet connection, or hard drive(s)

I use opera because I find its the most convenient, it`s got a lot of features and it`s very organized, but for facebook, youtube, and aol.com chrome takes the cake.

I use chrome just for streaming videos because all in all my computer kinda sucks. :/ Firefox seems to take up more memory and it has a lot of trouble loading up videos.

But I`m paranoid of most sites having bad scripts on them, so I have to use Firefox`s Noscript. I ran into a nasty piece of adware from this site in fact. -_-; It`s becoming more and more common for any website to distribute possible viruses or adware just because of the advertisements on it since they are generated off-site.

firefox is still faster at rendering and has better features.

I have both loaded on my high end gaming PC and wanted to like Chrome but could not see a reason to use it over firefox...

Let me just clear this up as it is a common misconception. This video has NOTHING to do with their download rate, their webspeed, their connection or what ever you want to call it. Its only showing how fast Chrome can display a webpage that it has already loaded, which is never the less very impressive. And thats why its called a rendering test. Obviously Chrome wont speed up your internet connection, the only thing it can do for you is display whatever website you want to see as fast as it can. Thats the only thing this video is showing.

I don`t know what these clips were supposed to prove, but they`re awesome. Chrome is pretty cool too.

"I think the speed of ANY browser depends more on your internet connection, I have used Firefox, IE and Chrome, and the only reason I still use Firefox is because I like the layout of buttons..."

True that, with a good Internet speed the difference between speeds is pretty much unnoticeable
