Reminds me of the room Bruce Willis used in the movie Fifth Element.

That`s the most amazing and innovative feat of interior design I have ever seen.

Although after a while/when you`re old, moving everything around would get tiresome.

I was imagining an apartment building that turned into a gigantic robot. I was disappointed.
His idea`s cool too I guess.

"Stupid is not clever, even if you can afford it."
Baalthazaq, the joke is not about envy or waste, it`s macro-phobia from being stuffed in a box his entire life. You know, in opposition to the comments of North Americans that see Mr. Cheng`s house and say "looks like he has to step outside when he has a big idea..."

Seriously, in the middle school I attended, there was a system like this which transformed between being a cafeteria, an auditorium and a gymnasium.

I can see doing something like this for my private office and he seems happy with his creation but, to me, living in it seems a little much. Reminds me of submarine life.
On the other hand, wife is salivating over it.

Being that American aren`t into public nudity (normally,) or public bathing (Mr. Chang`s guest bed is on top of the bath with no walls,)
I`d chalk up our difference of opinion about space on regional cultures.

By the way, your average American thinks Hummers are wasteful.
Must be why they were purchased by a company in China.

thats a really cool idea and ya it has to be a condo or something because he obviously has money otherwise he wouldnt have been able to do any of that

very cool, but what if you were visiting him? I can imagine scrambling to get out of the way of moving walls.

""why did they have subtitles?? he was speaking english! that really pisses me off ""

Some of us don`t have sound, genius.

I have a tiny studio apartment. I already thought about doing this. Now I definitely am.

"I didn`t see a toilet"
See that silver closet in the corner beyond the kitchen?
I`m guessing that`s not a furnace...

"Wow, and my landlord got pissed off when we pulled up the linoleum in the kitchen."
Probably a condo, not a rental. "Tenants` Association" rather than landlord.

"And in other, other news, Americans still think people envy their waste".

I`m currently building a 2 bedroom (+ study I guess) house. I can afford a 7 bedroom. I have 20`000 sq ft of land, given to me free from my government, as well as a ~$300`000 interest free, 20 year loan from the same government, to whom I pay no taxes.

I need a 2.5 bedroom. I`m building a 2.5 bedroom.
Back in the day when petrol was <7c a litre, I drove a regular car, not a Hummer.

Why? Because I`m not going to throw my money away in favour of stupid bullpoo. It`s also why when the credit crunch hit 75% of my colleagues had to move house, sell cars and whatnot just to survive, and I had enough money to get married and go on a honeymoon.

Stupid is not clever, even if you can afford it.

Hong Kong rules.

"And in other news: After suffering a mental break, famed architect Gary Chang was admitted to a mental institution after moving to the US and discovering that people keep their cars in more space than he`s lived in for the past 34 years. Ironically, each of the private rooms in the facility where he`s being held is also twice as large..."

I think he installed that window so he could toss each of the other six people out of it.

"And more news on famed architect Gary Chang who was re-admitted to a mental institution after seeing the inside of the Hummer stretch limo which his US employer sent to collect him from the Endless Acres of Rolling Hills Mental Hospital..."

How will multiple people live in this apartment? What if one of them wakes up before another one and wants to use the bathroom? He can`t exactly roll up the sleeping guy in his bed to access the toilet.

/agree with Tonyjet. Cool concept but too much work to maintain.

howlingwolf - the only other option the guy has is to leave hong honk. they don`t have open spaces like the US, so if you want to live in the city, you`ve got to deal with tiny spaces.

i still would not like to live there, but i love the lighting. Can you imagine having to move all those pieces of the room around, you get fed up with it over time. I would probably have the bed out and just be like f IT this will do.

Technological marvel that is, the only problem I see is that he obviously seems to have enough money to design that so it is somewhat unlikely he has to live in such a tight space. Oh well, terrific idea nonetheless.

I`d love it at first, then as the months/years went by I`m sure I`d have the kitchen out halfway most of the time, and the laundry always showing. It probably wouldn`t be "pretty" unless someone came to visit because it seems like a hassle to constantly change the rooms around just to get to something.

I`d get sick of sliding poo around, and then i`d forget where I put something and have to move like 20 walls to find it. Still, great stuff, that
