That cop saved that guys life ..he could have blown a hole right through him and it would`ve been conisdered correct procedure ..although it would`ve looked bad if he was holding both guns but instead chose to use the real one

Still, that taze was more than legit ..again, he saved his life.

I see a police officer pointing a taser at a standing man. I see the police officer`s mouth move. I cannot hear what the police officer is saying.

So I cannot tell what is happening, but I can make a guess: maybe the police officer was ordering the man to lay down on the ground. The man clearly did not do so. Thus, the taser was used.

i have always opposed tazering, however in this case i think it was used appropriately as the tazer DEESCALATED the situation from a potentially deadly one to a controlled one. he was reaching for something that from a rational point of view could have been a weapon, so for once i do feel it was necessary

two things, one the sound cuts out...hmm wonder why that is...BS alert going off

two-the cop throws something out of the CRIMMINALS waste band, a weapon most likely

he was tazed for good reason as far as I can see.

I think we found masterchief....Yay duel wielding....Very justified....You know cops rather you have your back turned...Hands up, he was not following directions, he appears to grab for something giving the cop a good reason to taze the water covered dude....

It would have been excessive if he repeatedly pulled the shock trigger and laughed as the water amplified the effect

Who ever filmed and published this wasn`t stupid. They took the audio but if you look closely you can see the cop shouting him to put his hands up which he did not do and he looks like he was going to grab some sort of weapon. Maybe a knife? Which the policeman took when he fell. I believe police sometimes let the ball drop and use excessive force but it goes with the territory and this time it was more than justifiable. SOP, that`s what it was.

He totally should have been tased. The cop was giving him orders, which he ignored, and then he stuck his hands in his clothing and started to turn around. ZAAAAP!

there is no audio to this. It the cop was giving directions that the bad guy was not following the cop needed to take some action. The cop cannot know if the man is just standing there to be a jerk or because he is getting ready to attack. This video is worthless if we don`t know what was being said.

Upon second review, justified. He had some sort of weapon under that shirt that the cop took. That guy is just lucky that the cop is left handed....

On a side note. Double weapon win for that cop! I bet they don`t teach that in training lol.

Come on people, the audio cuts out. You don`t know if he said "ok I give up" or "F-you copper I`m grabbing a gun" (as his right hand goes under his shirt. Pointless to argue either side with this video.

Wow I agree that sometimes police have way too much power but to say that they should all die?? Yeah you may be able to protect yourself now.. but what about when you are all old and shriveled with crippling athritis and a dodgy knee eh? You`ll be easy pickings for the low life morons who want to steal your stuff.. Just sayin.. sometimes the police come in handy..

Looks like he`s bang to rights, my view is if he hadnt broke the law he`d have nothing to fear. Time people took a bit of responsibility without simply moaning "yeah i know i committed murder, rape, fraud but that doesnt mean i`m a bad person" no, it means your a bad person and deserve what you get. I dont commit crimes so i have no fear of the law breaking my door down, however, if i lved in a crack den then i might be a little concerned......

axeman929: It`s `Presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law`. That however has no bearing on arrest procedure. This was a felon caught in the act of commuting a crime (car theft), fleeing the scene, and he reached for a concealed weapon.

Again, I did NOT write the commentary below the video. Someone else did that and even I`d like to know who.

This is just anti-cop propaganda. Gotta love how they left out the footage of the cop taking away the object in the close-up slow mo replay. That would ruin the frothy hatred they`re trying to whip up.
Dumb vid is dumb.

How is this even questionable. As others have stated it is obvious that the guy was reaching for whatever he has tucked into his waistband. He is lucky the cop didn`t put a bullet into him for pulling that stunt.

Also...nice audio cut so we can;pt hear what is going on.

Why did IAB even bother with this?

The missing audio at the end is convenient.

I agree that it looks like he`s being told to turn around and lay down. He turned to face the cop, and it looks like he`s going for something in his pocket. So I`d say the cop was both justified, and decent for not giving him the full taze.

The man who was tazed had a f*cking gun what would you do? if you were the cop?

In this era where everyone is so sue happy, from an officers perspective, he is better off shooting the man. If the suspect was using deadly force, you are within your rights to use deadly force. If you use a taser and the guy drowns or gets injured because it is against his training (which it is), then he will get sued.

I stated that the theif reached for a gun and was tazed for it. This car theif is fortunate that we live in a world with tazers, Back 10 years ago he`d have been shot and possibly killed.

The officer pulls the gun out of the other guy`s trousers. Better the officer takes the gun out than the other guy. I`d have tazered him then given a kick boot in the back, anyone using guns for crime deserves a tazer and a boot.

Better tazed then dead. If the suspect can find an attorney to represent him he may have a case but, then it`s up to the jury to see reason. I would back the officer 100%.

When your trained to use a taser, the are very clear on these kind of situations. Your never supposed to tase people near water, not because of the mix of water and electricity, but because a taser overrides your muscle control. If a person falls into water while being tased theres a serious risk of drowning. So whether justified or not (I`m not arguing if it`s right or not), that guys gonna have a lawsuit.

Justified because it looks like he is reaching for his gun. But how real is this video? It is not a continuous amateur shot, but edited from what looks like at least two different camera perspectives. An one of these cameras zooms blazingly fast.

Idiot. Looks like he read that whole link on how to deal with cops and decided he could face the cop to ask if he was free to go. Further, I`m sure the cop had told him to lay down, face first, on that rock. When the guy turned around to face the cop, he`s lucky he didn`t get a face full of dog teeth in addition to getting tazed.

I think tazers are often abused and unnecessary. This was a perfect scenario to use one. The guy reached quickly for something, and by the looks of it, it was a gun. This is a case where the tazer saved this mans life, otherwise he would have been shot reaching for his gun.
