"No, it`s wrong. Proof: Try it. I did."

Hmmm... obviously its pointless arguing with you, because you`re too stupid to actually read and digest what we`re saying.

If you eat more and exercise the same, then you`re obviously going to put on weight. If you eat more of the *right* foods (wholemeal pasta, tuna, salads, nuts, cereals etc) and you exercise more, then you will lose weight.

If you sit on your fat ass, watching tv and eating 5 meals of cheetos and cookie dough, then you`ll obviously pile on the pounds.

Trust me, I could go into the science behind it all, but it bored me when I was at uni, so I wont put you through it.

If your body feels full all the time, it wont store food as fat stores, it will burn it because it feels no need to create fat stores.

I run 5km at least 3 times a week, and do strength and conditioning training every other day. Trust me, there aint a pick of fat on me and I eat constantly.

No, it`s wrong. Proof: Try it. I did. Go ahead, try it for a month, try it for a YEAR. It`s just another lie. Want to lose weight? Eat less, exercise more. That`s the only thing that ever really works.

Eating when your hungry is like drinking when you are thirsty. Your body already is starting to think it is starving so it will want to store your next meal. If you are thirsty you are already dehydrated. You need to eat and drink throughout the day to moderate your blood sugar, hydration, and energy.

> 5 smaller meals a day convinces the body...

Actually duffytoler, that IS correct. When you eat once a day, your body stores food as fat in order to slow-release it during the daily fast. Trouble is, it never converts it all, and you end up fat. Nutritionists and doctors recommend 5 or 6 small meals a day, which can total twice as much as a once-a-day single meal if you like, and having the first one as soon as you get up, the last one right before bed. Your metabolism stays even, and you maintain correct weight.

"you have to eat more, not less. 5 smaller meals a day convinces the body its not going to be starved, so it boosts its metabolism which burns calories faster. If you wait til you are hungry before you eat, then you`re doing it wrong. Eat before you`re hungry"

>>>>"LOL! OMG! STOP, you`re KILLING me! Ha ha ha Self-delusion. This is classic."<<<<<<

I just recently went to the doctor for my daughters eating habits, and that is exactly what she told me to do. 5 smaller meals a day, will give her more energy and make her poop more!

No, it`s correct. Read: five smaller meals a day. Not fave meals of fifteen bigmacs per day (slight excaggeration perhaps, but you get the point)

This is compared to fewer, big meals a day, nota bene.

CrakrJak is right - to raise metabolism, you have to eat more, not less.

5 smaller meals a day convinces the body its not going to be starved, so it boosts its metabolism which burns calories faster. If you wait til you are hungry before you eat, then you`re doing it wrong. Eat before you`re hungry, but dont eat until you`re full, just until you`re satisfied.

You do have to eat the right stuff otherwise its still going to be turned into fat stores. You also have to exercise to burn fat, eating right and going on a 5k run 3 times a week would get someone that size trim in a couple of months.

Fad diets just dont work. You have to change your entire lifestyle.

HappyBee42:
..people simple need to EAT LESS and then they will not put on massive amounts of weight..
It simply doesn`t work like that. I`ve seen people on 1200 calorie a day (starvation) diets, Exercising daily, Loose 40-50lbs. just to plateau and stop loosing weight altogether for several months. The body`s response to being starved is to lower metabolism even further. After that happens they have no more energy to exercise and begin oversleeping, That leads to diet failure and has nothing to do with willpower.

The only solution that seems to work is gastric bypass surgery for many people, But not all. Surgery is not something to take lightly, It can be dangerous. A woman I knew in high school had it done and nearly died afterward, She recovered and lost over 300lbs. I didn`t recognize her at first when she greeted me in a store.

@CrakrJak: It is true that some people have a low metabolism in order that they can survive famine conditions, but these people simple need to EAT LESS and then they will not put on massive amounts of weight, because their low metabolism can store food for longer! In order to get as horribly overweight as a lot of people today are they need to eat far more than is recommended and not care about wanting to lose weight, because even with a lower than normal metabolism, losing weight is not as hard as people seem to think.

NDLOgan: You`re equating people`s problems with weight loss with willpower. That`s just not the case, Most everyone that is currently obese has had the willpower, Has tried multiple diets and exercise and failed. There is a good reason people with low metabolism exist, During a famine the fat people of this world would survive longer. Naturally skinny people don`t last in famine conditions, They are the first to starve to death.

DiegoDeFuego: It has very little to do with junk food, The fattest people I know eat `home cooked` meals 5-6 days out of the week. Maybe those people with normal metabolisms can and will lose weight relatively easily, But there are many people with genetic codes that cause their bodies to store fat to a greater degree.

dax2009, Is correct when she states that many obese people have ancestors (not descendants) that survived low caloric intake for generations. The way we are sold food today has changed quite a bit since the (genetically recent) 1930`s, When there were bread and soup lines. In fact, When the USA declared war, After Dec. 7th 1941 a lot of men were rejected from military service for being underweight.

Aspartame, Food additives, HFCS, and a government food guide that stressed a high carbohydrate diet, Since the 1950`s, Have fattened people up just like cattle. If you look at a cattle feed guide and the food pyramid, They have today, Both are very similar.

What makes anyone think that`s a handicapped spot? For one thing, you can see the same symbol on the chair in front of it to the left. Besides that, it`s in the damn middle and looks exactly like all the other chairs around it. Who figures the guy didn`t even see the back of the chair before he sat down in it?

he`s a large fellow, but i`ve seen much "fatter" people before. that`s what`s sad. i think this guy has other issues, people. especially since dude sittin one up one left has a possible down`sward slope about his shoulders with a handicap sticker on the back of his chair, as well.

believe me...if you think this is obese then you should visit tennessee.

Your parents don`t put mcdonalds in your body, society doesn`t put mcdonalds in your body. You are responsible for yourself. Your body doesn`t magically create fat around your thighs. You can only put on what you put in. I don`t care about how bad your genetics are, they don`t change physics.

@ Altaru:

before you call anyone names, please realize that mentally handicapped people (at least, to my knowledge) do NOT receive special seating at sporting events. Seats reserved near the field for the handicapped are those who for PHYSICAL reasons cannot climb many stairs.

We don`t have laws that give fat people extra rights. If they want enough room on an airplane for their fat-asses then they must buy an extra seat (or two). Or they get kicked off the plane for safety reasons. Sometimes they get kicked off despite the extra seat (see Kevin Smith).

lostinkorea: Maybe you didn`t know this but, 90% of obese people that start a diet fail, 90% of those that `succeed` at initially loosing the weight gain it all back (and usually more). It is known that morbid obesity has genetic and societal causes, Just like homosexuality is said to have (scientifically). So please drop your prejudice
