No it wasn`t. It was a shopkeeper (according to BBC News).

When i was a kid, i didn`t drat with things I didn`t understand, and I certainly didn`t drat with things i understood to be bad.
This is why i`m still alive. It`s because when I was a child, I ate dirt and played nintendo 64 while other children played in traffic and climbed 90 ft tall trees.

They use to scare the crap out of me when I was young. I bet that was his dad.... I rather like the illusion of it being some random good samaritan instead.

i think the guy who caught him is his dad- but whats with all the oblivious people walking around? when there is a kid running around doing weird stuff unattended, i notice!

My roommate got drunk during the 2010 Olympics and tried to ride the escalator railing down backwards. He lost his balance and summersaulted down half the escalator, No Joke!

Be wary ._.

I`d like to think that guy wasn`t the kid`s father. I see it more as, the guy just noticed the kid playing with the escalator and was like "dumb kid is going to get hurt", and walked away. Then the kid probably started screaming bloody murder when he got a little bit too high. The guy went back to see what had happened, saw the kid, and rushed to save him!

Or it was his dad being stupid and ignoring his son, but I`d like to think that it wasn`t :(

It took me a few watches to get it but I know what happened here:
The man who caught the child is his dad! He was on his phone and looking over at his kid once in awhile, then walked past the escalator into the doorway of a store (or bank?) then looks over a little bit later to see that his kid is now going up up up the escalator and runs in a panic to get him.

I totally missed the dude catching the kid on the 1st angle, and on the second...I saw the kid appear out of nowhere, falling, and 3rd angle, missed it for a while... It`s difficult if you don`t realize what you`re looking for.

I accidentally fell an escalator. Is this bad?
Like the WHOLE escalator.

sam...at least one of those men was blind and in my experience that makes it slightly more difficult to see children hanging off the side of the elevator.

"GAH i hate it when people just drating STAND there on an escalator... ITS DESIGNED TO GET YOU UPSTAIRS FASTER!! NOT JUST SO YOUR FAT A$S DOESN`T HAVE TO WALK!!!"

Actually that`s what the left "lane" is designed for. Left walk, right stand. It`s like traffic. The right lane goes slower the left lane goes faster. You can judge and condemn those who stand all you want but some of us have genuine disabilities and don`t exactly appreciate it.

"Man, there`s not a year goes by, not one year, that I don`t here about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid that could have easily been avoided if some parent, I don`t care which one, but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator!"

...I actually did that at a Barnes and Nobles once when I was 6 >_> I wanted to see if it would really carry me up and well...it did. XD Also, you can`t completely blame the parent come on, kids run off randomly so much. You can look away for two seconds and they can be gone.

so yeah, you can clearly see the guy that saves the kid begin to walk into another store, turns around because he realized his FOUR year old child isn`t following HIM. (which he should be following the kid shouldn`t he?) and sees his kid almost to the top... also do you see the guys that are on the escalator? they look like they knew what was goin on but once they got on the escalator they forgot how to run up stairs? GAH i hate it when people just drating STAND there on an escalator... ITS DESIGNED TO GET YOU UPSTAIRS FASTER!! NOT JUST SO YOUR FAT A$S DOESN`T HAVE TO WALK!!! ok sorry about that. same principle with the moving sidewalks.

well the kid was FOUR! I guarantee you weren`t very smart when you were four either. But I agree, the kid should`ve been surpervised. I hate it when parents let their kids run around all over.

hah that guy was like "Huh? What the... Is that a...? OH S--T!! *runrun, cacth* -__-;"
