sunlight soap was a product of the lever bros, they formed to make unilever, who has a annual turnover of 40 billion euros. They are responsible for brands such as ben and jerrys, pot noodle, flora, dove and around a hundred more
now, when employing people, they dont make any decisions based on gender, race, handicap or creed

A few of those were fine, and I could see them still being used today. The one with the kid shaving a cat, for example, and the one where they suggested that clean people are more likely to get hired. Obviously a cat is rarely referred to as a `pussy` these days, but it would be fine if they changed that to `kitty`.

And I have to concur with MechBFP.

I challenge you to find a form of advertisement today in which the white character does NOT play the fall-guy.

@Evilgrouse:

There is an old saying, "Don`t throw your baby out with the bathwater" or something like that.

Back in the olden days, hot water was rare, and took time. So instead of fresh baths, they would have 1 bathtub.

Most of the time, went in this order:

1. Man of the house
2. Wife
3+. Eldest kid to youngest
last: Baby -

Baby was the last one, but by that time the water was so dirty, cant see the kid anymore if you were cleaning :P

Thats pretty much what is symbolizes <

@Zerocyde,

the idea isn`t that they are ALL racist, some are just weird. number one is creepy and number four is showing the image of a child upset and possibly hurt.

I wonder what people will be laughing at in another 50-100 years. Surely we`re doing some really racist/sexist/whatever things still without realizing it.
(My guess is going to be all the toy ads for girls that force the idea that every girl wants dolls, stuffed animals and everything in pink.)

well at least the hiring one hinted that one of the women should get hired, though i doubt the employers back then would even care, they would just hire the unclean d00d.

Most ads back then used some form of comic prejudice as a sales gimmick, Thankfully we`ve grown out of that.

It`s a part of Americana. Yes it`s racist, but Ameroca was racist 60 years ago. Deal with it. On an interesting side note, soap ads like that are worth a PILE of money.
