I think the person who wrote this article is just a wee bit paranoid.

Really? This guy makes sure that everything he writes online sounds couth and sterile just because some potential employer might see it some day? Look, people. Employers aren`t going to avoid hiring you just because there`s a picture of you drinking/partying on your public Facebook profile. If that were the case, then the only people with jobs would be the ones without social skills.

Most of these are obvious, but it seems like a chunk of the population is just retarded, so i guess it makes sense

OK I believe you. No wait, if I believe you that means I`m trusting you so, no, I don`t believe you. But that means I have to believe you then... which means... but then I...

#2, The writer says you should at least meet the person 2-3 times in public before revealing your home address. The craigslist link he gives of an example says the woman DID meet the guy on two public dates before she gave her real address and he kidnapped her.

Meh, I`ve done all of these except for numbers 2, 7, and 10. I`ve been using the internet since I was 8 (this includes going into chat rooms.) For the longest time I didn`t care at all about internet safety until I was about 15 when I stopped going online as much and enjoyed life outside the internet.

If people are so dumb that they don`t already know this then they deserve what`s coming to them.

This poo needs to be plastered all over facebook. People are so ignorant when it comes to the consequences of social networking.

reminds me of the PSA disney channel puts out (with phineas and ferb):

disney.go internet common sense

list includes, but not limited to:

-don`t believe people are who they say they are
-nothing is private, it can be copy and pasted in minutes to hundreds of people
-not everything online is true, use common sense

Aaaand here goes IAB. Everyone follows that, no more IAB. v_v;;;

Besides, everyone who`s here have so many examples of the don`ts that we are bound to be more protective, or at least to know what we`re embarking on.

Someone`s obviously new to this whole "worldwide web" thing. Yeah, it`s the Internet, baby, you can be told to go f*ck yourself here and there`s nothing you can do about it.
