Each time when I`m on my period and I hear that "Always: have a happy period" tagline I have to fight the urge to throw something at the tv. Periods are not happy. Ever. What they should say is "Always: keeps you from bleeding all over the place".

I think that an honest advert would be allowed today and would improve sales. A simple, straightforward advert, like the famous Ronseal ones that created the memorable slogan "It does exactly what it says on the tin".

So maybe the slogan could be "It`s not that uncomfortable and it stops blood getting on your clothes".

Hmm...maybe it wouldn`t be allowed everywhere.

VERY funny. XD

We need more realistic ads.

"Are you cramped and bloated? Feeling like you want to just cut the throat of the world and drown it in its own blood? Well we can at least help keep your panties clean."
how could women talk about such things so openly!?
Easily?

It`s a bodily function, like sweating or whatever, but limited to only part of humanity and only for part of their lives. It`s far better to talk about it openly than not, because ignorance can be very harmful.
It had been 18 years since I made my debut in the ministry by burying a 14 year old girl who`d killed herself when her periods started, thinking it was VD.
Chad Varah, founder of The Samaritans. Despite the name and the founder, it`s not a religious organisation. Outside the UK, it`s known as Befrienders Worldwide. You`ve probably heard of it.

Which would you prefer:

Talking about it very openly?
Burying the corpses of those who killed themselves?

Also, of course, for one who went as far as suicide there would be many more suffering to various extents. Ignorance is harmful and openly ralking about things is the cure.

I don`t know what you guys are talking about- I always want to dance through the crippling pain in my stomach. It matches so well with the crippling pain I always have in all my joints.

HA funny how I just got mine this morning, and I was rudely awoken with crippling stomach pains, preventing me from being able to move until 3pm. No dancing for me! The worst thing Is having to tell my boyfriend "It`s here" to which he replies "NOOOOOOO!"

enough said, I think.

I really hate those period commericals where the women are dancing and happy and hey, maybe that cute guy is still checking you out! Ugh, forgetting the actual mess of it cramps are like the devil happily poking you in the lower stomach once a month. I wish a commercial would come right out and say that.

"how could women talk about such things so openly!?"

Because every single woman in the world deals with it and most are sick of having to hide the facts of our natural body processes. Many are still ashamed of a completely natural occurrence because of responses like that.

> phantom16 (and others)
> True, but why blue?

Because they are messing with your subconscious. Blue is perceived as clean, fresh, healthy - think of all the things you have in your house, like toothpaste, disinfectant, thing-you-drop-in-the-toilet-cistern, etc that are blue, but don`t really need to be. Your primeval brain says "It`s liquid, and its bright blue, so things could survive really well in that!"; they know it, and they deliberately send that message `under` the actual message.

"Lame people would complain that red liquid is too gross for tv.

True, but why blue? Maybe it just shows up well on TV. It`s too runny as well. Something that absorbs one very well doesn`t necessarily absorb the other very well. It`s dissimilar enough to make me think "why bother showing it at all?". Anyone who might be buying the product knows that it`s absorbent. So why bother with an inaccurate image of it absorbing something else? You may as well advertise shower gel by showing someone washing their car with it."

i actually remember reading about why they chose that color and it was something like back in the day they wouldn`t use red because it was too associated with blood, so the networks decided against that as a possible color for use in commercials. Other colors ran into similar problems, like green was still thought to be too unpleasant, and just clear water was too hard to see how effective it worked, and they just came to the grou

I`ve always hated those commercials.

Periods don`t make you want to dance. You`ll be in way too much agony. I`d rather just play really violent video games and eat food by the bucketfuls.

10 to 1 they were making the same kind of commercials before they decided that this would sell better. Anyway liquid is liquid. But hey why don`t they put their money where their mouth is and show us some bid red globs themselves? Until then I`ll stick with whats cheapest, because a tampon is a tampon.

Q. Why did God give WOMEN periods?
A. Because they deserve them.

...

Q. Why didn`t God give MEN periods?
A. Because they already whine and bitch more than once a month.

It`s the very watery blue liquid that gets me. They`re basically advertising a product for one thing by saying it`s very good at something else.

This commercial poked fun at the other tampon commercials. But it used: Beach scene, women dancing, cliche butterflies, the blue liquid.

This was as much a tampon commercial as the other ones were. No joke.

lol Funny because it`s true! Tampon and pad commercials are so hokey. "Have a happy period." Since when has *anyone* had a happy period? My husband will confirm that there`s nothing happy about it. No dancing, no slo-mo twirling, and certainly no white. Just a cranky betch looking for some chocolate and a sappy girl movie.
