i usually dont comment but id like to point out 2 things to the people who say this computer is not worth 2k.

1. It`s already been built and you don`t even know all the specifications. The average computer user can not build their own comp. like some of us, which means this computer is probably well priced.

2. You have no idea when this ad was made, at that time it could have cost 2k to build that computer.

The picture`s sole purpose is to sell a computer (which he probably accomplished) and for i-a-b`s purposes, to make us laugh, which for me it accomplished as well. So ease back, relax and just enjoy the creativity it took to make this ad. Your harping on the little details are just going to stress you out and ruin the picture for others.

Actually Radeon owns with the 5XXX series. The 5850 is pretty much had the best price/performance ratio. ATI had DX11 for 6 months before Fermi came along. Fermi is a disappointment IMO. I`m waiting for the Fermi refresh before I upgrade from my GTX 285.

"Radeon 48x0 - $90-$290 depending on card.
12GB DDR3 - $360 avg.
I7 920 Bloomfield - $260 avg.
Capable motherboard - $200 avg.
Capable power supply - $80 avg.
Good tower - $60
Monitor like that - $200
Keyboard, Mouse - $100 MAX.

Total - $1550

Ha."

It`s probably a HD4850 considering he didn`t give a model number; just doesn`t make sense to simply say HD4800 series if it was anything higher, so that`s only $110. The RAM should cost $330 if using 6 x 2GB sticks as G.Skill Ripjaw 2 x 2GB 1600MHz stuff is $110. The motherboard need only be $120. The monitor, keyboard and mouse may not be thrown in, saving the gut that $300. Admitednly you forgot a 1TB HDD and a DVD Burner, totaling $100 together.

@shreder23,

You`d buy this computer in a heartbeat for $2,000?
You must not know much about computers yourself. All of the specs he mentioned in the AD are about $1,000 at the most. Then you can buy a good case for $150, a good 1TB HDD for about $100 or less, a good PSU for around $100, and a good optical drive for around $30 - $40, unless you want Blu-ray. Then you might have to spend around $75 if you just want to read, or $150 or so if you want to be able to write.

And you could find a great motherboard for around $200...so that doesn`t leave much else to buy except small things, like a card reader if you need it.

So what is that, maybe $1700 all together. And that`s with the Blu-ray write, which we don`t even know if his has. We also don`t know what kind of HDD(s), Motherboard, PSU, etc, that he has in it. Oh, and then whatever the OS costs. So add maybe $100-$150 for that.

Still, unless its other specs are pretty good, that IS NOT wor

Honestly, they could`ve put more information on the ad. I suppose you could call and ask, but does no one think to include HDD size, what kind of optical drives it has, what kind of PSU and what wattage it is.

I mean, it really wouldn`t have taken too much room on the paper to just put that.

I don`t know if I`d WANT to watch porn on that computer. HD porn is not all it`s cracked up to be. There are really some things that shouldn`t be rendered above standard TV resolution.

I built a very similar machine for 1500, too but that doesnt make this overpriced. Most idiots would pay 4000 or more for a machine like that, prebuilt.

Way overpriced. I built the same system with half the RAM (seriously, you don`t need any more than about 4gb) and a GTX 285 - which is far and away the superior card between the two - for $500 less.

Looks like this guy built a system for $1000 and is now trying to rip someone off for double his money... and succeeding.

Loved the skeptical face in the middle :-) that had me laughing too much, but I am thinking $2000 for this computer is too much. Maybe if someone is willing to reward him for his creative ad, but the "machine of manliness" prob not worth that much.

I love how impressed people are with this computer. The memory goes for about $260 and the chip is $300 the video card is $160 TOPS. All other parts are probably generic crap so $2000 is ridonculous.

"Do you have any recommendations for hardware that will make After Effects CS5 run even better?
The system requirements provided by Adobe are minimum requirements. With native 64-bit support, After Effects can take advantage of all the available RAM in your system. For multicore systems, Adobe recommends 4GB or more of RAM per core; on any system, 16GB of RAM is a good baseline if you plan to run multiple applications simultaneously."

32gb is actually the standard in pro video editing rigs."

Point taken, I was a little ambiguous in my statement, I was referring to a gaming rig in particular. Large amounts of RAM obviously has it`s uses for multitasking and memory intensive graphical rendering. But this person is clearly using this PC for gaming . You can tell that by looking at the GPU alone. Th
