I`ve often wondered about full-nude strippers; do they automatically get a week off during their menses?
I`d be very surprised if they got a quarter of the time off on full pay, that`s for sure.

I think it`s more likely that they use the pill to stop menstruating, use a cup instead of STs or tampons or work a different job for that period of time. Tending bar or whatever. There must be other jobs to do in a strip club.

haha i worked at a tittie club for like a year.. they should add the staggering amount of cocaine and painkillers the collective staff consumes yearly during work hours.

No nude dancing before 1964?
Ever hear of "Sin Cities"?

Uh, dude, if you think there wasn`t nude dancing before 1964, you are a seriously clueless person.
Most of these facts are complete BS

I believe the ovulation part. Apparently, women give off a pheromone during this time and, of course, men are going to biologically attracted to that stripper.

Exactly, there was a study done on this.

Let`s look at the facts, iLoveChoo,

During ovulation, women tend to feel sexier and more willing to engage in sexual congress. It`s a time when a woman`s body is at its peak time for mating. Subconsciously women are more open to sexual display during this time in their cycle, mentally and physically. They get more "into" their dance routines.

During "that time of the month" ladies tend to feel crampy, bloated and yes, moodier. They get less "into" their routines and feel less inclined to attract the attentions of the customers in sexual display.

These are tendencies we`re talking about. Your mileage may vary, of course. But, it`s not hard to understand the correlation.

A lot of the facts in the infographics are pretty poorly supported/bogus. I`m sure there`s not direct correlation to ovulation and money. I guess just a possible connect to create shock factor.

Stripclubs are so uncommon here, as is visiting them. I always thought they were (chiefly) American and Canadian, are they popular elsewhere?

I do not and will not believe that the FIRST topless dance occurred in 1964, sure maybe the first topless dance in a club... No wait, forget that because is b*llpoo, so sure maybe the first time somebody documented it and that is all
did you say... Olympic event? :D
I wonder what odds a bookie would give against it? :)

I watched some pole dancer exercise thing video on Youtube once, when I was bored. It`s sort of like a horizontal bar gymnastics event, in a way. I think it isn`t as much of a silly stretch as it first seems.

I was impressed when she hung upside-down by her calves, straight down, and then gracefully did a sit-up, full 180 degrees. That`s not easy.

There are certainly male pole dancers around here, Perseus, though nowhere near as many as there are male strippers. Loads of those, although I don`t see as many now as I did a couple of years back. It used to be a standard attraction in nightclubs, usually monthly. Maybe the recession is hitting it hard. Maybe it`s now so normal they don`t advertise it. I don`t know.

Although I`ve never heard of a strip club with male strippers, only ordinary clubs hiring male strippers for stripshows.

I can see pole dancing as a sort of gymnastics event. It`s not *necessarily* a sex show and it requires strength and skill.

I`d be surprised if they managed to disassociate it from sex shows enough to get it into the olympics any year soon, though.

Maybe a name change would help. Call it `vertical bar` or something like that.

The worst part about stripping, is that even though you can MAKE about 500+ a night. Half of that sh*t goes to the bouncers, DJ`s, the owner etc. Hell, if you didn`t have to give almost all of it to them, most strippers would be rich as f*ck >_>

Apparently, it recently closed, but there used to be a place called the Climax Strip Club on Route 22 near Pittsburgh. Drive thru.

Safe for work (No nudity/language)

Saying that topless dancing started in 1964 is like saying Christopher Columbus discovered America. I doubt you can find anything in the sex industry today that isn`t technological that hasn`t existed since antiquity.

It is objectification. I`m not judging the women that do it (if anything, I judge the men who pay for it). You can dress it up how you like, but it is the very definition of objectification.

But if I thought I could make a living out of it, I`d be up on the pole too. No stones being thrown over here.

Judgmental people make me vom.

I used to think of it as objectification but some, even feminists, feel differently.

I wouldn`t consider it particularly degrading or empowering. It`s a job where I take advantage of certain skills I have, nothing more nor less.

Yes, societal objectification makes me vomit. And the thought of people growing up to see their bodies as commodities only fit to be sold and ogled makes me vomit.

Well, now`s as good a time as any to out myself.

A lot of girls I know swear they make more on their periods. I haven`t bothered keeping track, couldn`t tell ya.

Boadicea, I believe I`ve heard the year before. Sure there was burlesque and stuff before, but strip club environment, yeah it pretty much got started in the 1960s.

Most competing pole dancers aren`t strippers.

Average numbers are probably outdated. Strippers have taken a hit with the economy and all too.
